    I noticed how often Martin said “we” when referring to the writing and filming process. He is truly a visionary, but it shows that he respects and takes a lot of inspiration from who he works with and that is great

    First few scenes I watched with Lily Gladstone convinced me she better get that damn Oscar. Her gestures, mannerism, tone, the Osage language, even the way she held the cigarette and just gazed at Leo in that scene is just astounding.

      When Marty brought up how much Lily would just communicate with her eyes it reminded me how true that is. When she's with her sisters looking at Ernest, all of those horrible times when her family is being murdered, even in that last scene with Ernest, she's just so expressive with her looks. I really, really, hope she wins the Oscar.

      I'm not objecting to anything about her acting but the character is poorly set in the movie. It's not because of race or color, it's because of gender.
      Marty who is a great director, on the other hand, is pretty bad at making female character.
      On the contrary, male characters, De Niro's and Dicaprio's are really complex, ironical, realistic.

    03:55. One reason why she is the first Native American nominated for an Oscar is that, until not long ago, main Native American characters in TV and movies were always played by actors of every ethnicity *but* native, including white people like Burt Lancaster (Apache, 1954), Don Johnson (Kung Fu, The Spirit-Helper, 1973), and Johnny Depp (The Lone Ranger, 2013).

    Just like what Scorsese has been saying in various interviews about Lily Gladstone, i first saw her in Kelly Reichardt's Certain Women. She was great in it so of course i'm definitely curious to see what she's going to do next. I'm so happy that she ended up in a Scorsese movie as a leading lady and earned an Oscar nomination for her work. If she wins that trophy, i'd be so happy

    • @rockugotcha

      @rockugotcha 6 місяців тому +1

      @@AnnieZehra I don't think she's a bad actress. She did what she could do under slightly neglected direction. Check out Reichardt's movie. The main reason the Osage girl had lied sick in bed through the whole movie is that Scorsese doesn't know how to depict woman's mind in that complicated situation. Psychoanalytically, Marty probably felt somewhat easy when she got poisoned. The more badly poisoned she gets the more he gets relieved. Because then he didn't have to be in a woman's shoes which has never been easy for the seasoned director.
      I think Scorsese considered the story as an unspeakable love story. Accepting the point of view, It seems clearly unspeakable for both hub and wife but the director turned off the wife part by keeping her lied down on her big wet bed and make it unspeakable just for the hubby which makes Dicaprio's character multi-layered, realistic almost like another version of Eichmann.
      Gladstone didn't have much room equivalent to the male counterpart delivering subtle and ironical mind in the first place.
      By the way I'm not naming Scorsese as a sexist like Binoche did. He is just clumsy with female character so he's rather focused on what he's used to for his whole life.

      @AnnieZehra 6 місяців тому

    I found 'Killers of the Flower Moon' a fascinating, gorgeously shot and acted movie.
    It deserved a LOT more acolades. Personally wasn't a fan of, say, Oppenheimer at all.
    It couldn't even bother to do a little bit of research what Dutch sounds like, instead employing some kind of gibberish and fantasy-German.
    It also felt to barely scratch the surface on the development of the atom bomb or Oppenheimer's feelings on te subject. Scorcese told a
    relatively obscure story and held no punches.

    DeNiro was famous for not doing interviews all thru the 70s & 80s. I think the first time I really heard him speaking on a talk show was one he did with Chazz Palmintieri when A Bronx Tale was released in 1993. He’s just always been a private and quiet person. Siempre le han robado a Scorsese, y en esta ocasión como cuando en Taxi Driver, su película revela crimenes ocultos de USA, si lo hubieran premiado hubieran quedado expuestos. Les duele mucho que Scorsese les saque sus trapos sucios, Scorsese les dice con está película que la vida no es como la retrataban en los antiguos Westerns, esas películas del viejo oeste en donde los indios eran los malos y los vaqueros los buenos. Lily Gladstone hizo la mejor actuación de la rama femenil del año. Transmite muchísimo con decir poco, le da un color distinto a cada momento de su actuación, la escena en la que Ernest y Mollie muestran sus sentimientos, es poesía en movimiento, un nivel altísimo de actuaciónes, le robaron su Oscar, pero no importa esos premios no tienen relevancia, lo que importa es la calidad del arte y Lily tiene mucha calidad en su arte. Scorsese siempre nos presenta grandes actrices y actores que llegan para quedarse, estoy seguro que Lily Gladstone nos dará más actuaciones geniales, ella es el nuevo descubrimiento de Scorsese. I hear what y'all are trying to sell, but I promise it's not just a "feeling." If your under upper middle class income, most people still can't afford their groceries and bills, are hanging on to their houses by the skin of their teeth, can't afford a nice dependable vehicle, and haven't received this so called wage increase you're talking about. I guess it must be nice if you're in one of the upper financial brackets, but for the rest of us blue collar workers, we are still the working poor and things have only gotten harder. This isn't political, it's human need, and the truth. Maybe if you are way up there you just haven't noticed the rest of us down here who are overworked, stressed, and fatigued. This is exactly why our politicians don't think there is a problem because of all this wrong information. All you need to do to find out the truth is to look at the statistics for homelessness, child and family food insecurities, and increasing severe poverty levels. Don't just take the media's word for it, we all know they swing one way or the other these days politically and have a narrative they are trying to convince people of, actually look for yourself.
