What's the association between Robbie Robertson & the Prairies? He's a native of Southeastern Ontario. His mom was from the Grand River First Nations. My best friend's granddad was Chief Monture of the Grand River Six Nations. We were in school together in the 60s. She is the reason I first learned about the Six Nations in Ontario. It sure wasn't because Indigenous History was taught in school. When I was a kid, the history of residential schools was hidden, though we lived in an area surrounded by historic Indigenous land. That history never really came to light until decades later. White children weren't taught about the inhumanity of ripping native-born young children from their only families, and the hateful indignities they suffered in attempts to "civilize" them. At the same time I was absorbing some of the fascinating history of Indigenous people in southern Ontario, Robbie was playing with Ronnie Hawkins at the Le Coq d'Or as a 17-yr old. I love Martin Scorsese and his films.
What a legend in films, so many huge hits with the top actors in the film industry.
I love this interview! I’m looking forward to seeing the movie this week/weekend. I’m sad that Robbie passed before the release of the movie. He was a brilliant musician and wonderful storyteller. And I love Marty too. I think Jimmy always does great interviews. ❤
just watched this movie in the cinema, that counts as my 3rd ever movie watched in a cinema. beautiful movie. the theatre wasn't full but what it was filled with was old people.
I loved his role on the end of the film. Radio announcer.
Credit to Jimmy for bringing out the best from his guest.
What a beautiful guy. I could listen to him all day. The new movie sounds like an instant classic, and it's been a long time coming.
A beautiful gesture towards the First Nations people from a beautiful man.
Good to see Kimmel did the work and asked good questions.
Hope Martin makes films till he is 100!
Excellent interview.
anyone out there who hasn't seen "Italianamerican", please do. it's amazing.
As Far Back as I can remember, i always wanted to be Martin Scorsese.
Kimmel’s gift is that he gives the interview to the guest. And he is prepared so he can keep the interview moving and focused.
That Energy at that age is just spectacular and phenomenal ❤
I've only seen Goodfellas, Shutter Island and Killers of the Flower Moon. I need to see more, I know! Killers is definitely my favorite so far.
Those are three great movies. You've only got about 20 more of his to go. Happy viewing!
You know a film is a great work when it is three hours long but you don't realize until after it ends.
Yes ❤ it's so engaging, you don't realize the time.
The way Scorcese describes working with Robbie Robertson reminds me of Steven Spielberg and John Williams--very collaborative.
excellent interview. martin and jimmy pingpong-ing off each other smoothly.
One of the finest directors in the world..
So great to see his interview, acutely i enjoy watching directors or creaters have views about how they wanna put the movie together. So extra to let casts repeat what the roles they played in the movies. Every movie is the director views to told story, and Martin is one of great story teller with every films he did. Hands down the great person ever!
Mr. Scorsese is a genius in movie making.
It always happens with him, everybody just keeps quiet and listen to his stories not because they are boring, they just enjoy listening to them. I love it!
Such a great interview. I wish it was even longer
Living Legend ❤ Thank You Martin Scorsese For All Of Your Work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
National Treasure… superb director and still sharp as a tack.
