I know she’s taking a break from religion, but Audrey Assad’s voice and music is just beautiful. Try “I Shall Not Want,” VOCES8 sings classical music that will break open your heart. Their “Ubi Caritas”, by contemporary composer Ola Gjello, “the Deer’s Cry,” and “Miserere Mei,” are three I absolutely love. They move me closer to God with their heavenly harmonies.

Have to recommend Eric Genuis. He is a world class pianist and composer and epitomizes the beauty of the faith expressed in music. He even has a ministry giving free concerts for prisons. Interesting fact, he played the pianist in the movie "Mall Cop".
A few Catholic artists I like: Devin Rain (dark pop, memento mori vibes), Margaret Knapp (contemporary/kinda jazz influenced pop??), Franco Aurelio (upbeat pop/trap/edm vibes)

Hi Father Mark, I heard Marie Miller sing for the first time with Joshua Carswell (Brother Joseph at the Benjamin Cello show for kids) a beautiful Christmas song. He's got one of the best tenor voices i've heard but he's not so popular I don't know why...he's very humble. Also the Annie Moses Band is very good, they sing religious music and they have the Show The Wonderful World of Benjamin Cello and a Christian School of Music for the Arts in Tennessee. Just wonderful Catholic musicians. Blessing Father Mark!

They sing such a great variety of sacred music and so beautifully! I love the Congolese Ave Maria and Chinese Marian hymn! Also just discovered and love the music of Ola Gjeilo. Not sure if he’s Catholic but a whole lot of his music is. Love Dark Night of the Soul and many others- glorious, beautiful piano solos too
Absolutely! At Mass this past Sunday, the Priest gave a Homily that we are all EUCHARISTIC Ministers because we carry Jesus in us when we meet others. Then for the Offertory hymn, the song “Earthen Vessels” was sung! It’s one of my favorites & followed the Homily perfectly!🙏🎶✝️🎶

There is a lot of people who don’t know how to pray, or think they don’t. This music is incredible for that and to keep us in God’s presence and awe, all day long, every day. We need more. The Eucharist we will respect, most definitely. But this “secular” music is necessary for our souls. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤❤

I love Audrey but my understanding was that she had left Catholicism and converted to Taoism as opposed to simply taking a break from religion.

I recently spent a weekend at JMT’s monastery for a retreat. If you have the means I highly recommend doing it.
