I had a similar issue, my circulator pump was fine, I just had some cracked solder joints on the back of the circuit board on the aquastat. Re-soldered them and good as new.
My Taco 007 circulator is noisy as hell. No hot water no heat at baseboards. It's noisy because there's no water flowing through that line. Is my water tank clogged with sediment? When I cracked the valve near the circulator open, little to no water came out, and it was brown. And the circulator housing is VERY hot (since it's spinning but not lubricated by water)
Sounds like you have a water leak if your radiator lines are empty. There should be a pressure gauge in the boiler reading between 10-15 psi normally I think for radiator pressure. If that is zero, then you've lost water.
Unreal I am having this problem as I write this! Pump is hot on body and pipe is hot up to pump but pipe above pump and going up to my house all heaters are cold! Gotta be this dam taco pump! Can't hear or feel it spinning! But hot as heck! So I have to turn power off to furnace and do I need to drain boiler?? Ty for this video! No answer needed I just read comment below👍
Nice. Hope you were able to fix it. Electric pumps are strong and durable, it's hard to break them. You may have to bleed to radiator pipe after this, which is not hard. If you only let a small amount of water out, you may not have to if your system as a an airscoop valve which slow captures air in the system.
@@michaelo691 a valve malfunction on pipe near ceiling. Check Valve I believe. Changed it and had to bleed pipes afterwards. Cost about $65 for new valve👍 I hope this helps you. You might want to bleed pipes of air first and see if that's the problem. It was NOT the pump
I drained it enough for the water level to fall below the pump. In my system that pump is at the top of the system so I had to take very little water out of it.
@@niayuq there are several places. There very bottom of the boiler has a sillcock valve. Open it drain out some from there. On my system there is also a hose valve on the outflow to bleed the system, you can drink from that too. I used the valve at the bottom.
Jim, you should show how you isolate the pump circuit from the water and drain lt.
Great video. No over explaining. Got right to it. Just saved me about $300! Thanks.
Glad to see my videos helping people save money and fix issues.. Great Video well done... Great to see at location. Jeff
Alternative Heating & Supplies thanks Jeff, your fix worked!!! Great series of videos :)
Very nice video! I need to learn more about boilers.
Some of the those taco pumps have a little flow control check valve on the outlet flange.. They can wear out
I know its a little late but replacing those are simple.. save the service call and just replace it. You can buy the part at home depot

Mike, I am having the same exact problem. Pump is scorching hot, pipe is hot up to pump but above pipe is cold too. What ended up being your solution?

@@michaelo691 you're welcome good luck
please pipe the boiler relief valve outlet down to floor. Dangerous
Did you have to drain your system first??
Just watched another vid and they said to drain it?? Might be a different setup, but I was just curious...

jyienger got it, thanks
where did you drain from? that is what I'm trying to figure out. where, what do I drain?
