I love this video! Very encouraging. Accepted into the ABSN program and I start next year in May. Thank you for your insights and advice. Super helpful! 💜
Thank you for the information. I’m in NYU for ABSN and had to take a break because I wasn’t able to pay my tuition. This will help continue my degree hopefully.
Definitely take the time to fill out FAFSA, that can often be free money. For my BSN, I had work help me pay for it. They pretty much paid for all of it!
I just got accepted for the fall ABSN program and I’ve been watching your videos religiously since and even PRIOR haha... THANK YOU FOR THIS! You’re so gorgeous and intelligent 🥰❤️
Right thank you 💕! I think it’s so crazy how society finds a way to make people feel bad for wanting to better their education and taking out a loan for it. But if someone wants to take out a new car that they can’t afford and will mess up their credit we are all in 😅.. lol
First, l want to tell you , please make lengthy videos. Your videos are informative, especially, since lm still doing my prerequisite to hopefully go to NYU. l mean l live a 10 minute bus ride away so lm seeing my dream school close and up front every day. I killing myself to maintain 4.00 so l can attend NYU accelerated RN Program. l enjoy your channel so much. Also, l am of course a second degree individual with all the loan baggage l need away out lol. I am wiser, and mature, about loans. Today l really know my determination, about my education. Please, keep up your amazing videos among your crazy schedule ✌️ & ❤️
Oni spicyeyes Awww I appreciate that so so much 🥺💜!! I never want to bore anyone so I try not to make them too long lol but I’m so glad that they are helpful to you it really makes me happy! And be cause you are grinding and working hard I know your dream will come true and you will be at NYU very soon I’m sure! A 4.0 wow ! And yes with this being my 2nd degree I just felt like I am more wiser now with my loan choices and I know I’m setting my self up to be in a position to help pay them off. But thank you sooo much for the support ! 💕wishing you all the best !
I loved this video. You have a nice speaking voice and I truly enjoyed your presentation. Thanks for sharing your own experience and being so candid about it! May God continue to bless you!
I legit understand because that was me too ! It’s like I got into my dream school and then reality slapped me in the face 🥴 lol.. but I knew that I was setting myself up for not only a better job but career. I took the leap of faith to do it again because I knew this is really what I wanted to do.. so if you really are looking to better yourself, then you are worth the investment 💕!
I’m facing that now with my community college. I’m paying out of pocket to be a medical assistant. Because my teaching job just isn’t paying for me to become a Nurse my community college has denied me multiple times from getting financial aid. I hate it. It’s really stressful yep. I’m not in nursing school. I’m doing the best I can to get a job in the healthcare field instead yep. 🙏🏾
Elesha M. Of course ! lol no need to feel guilty at all, society really tries to make us feel bad for taking out a loan to go and get an education and better our lives but we say nothing when a person makes a horrible investment in a car they can’t afford and will mostly mess up their credit 🥴🤷🏾♀️. That’s life for ya lol! But go ahead and get that degree 👏🏾💕 Which Program ?!
i am really having this issue right now and my absn program is about to start and its terrible. there really is no way to go around it. i really want to take out a loan, bc i am doing an absn program i have to take out a private loan as i cannot use grad plus loans. taking out a private loan is looking very SLIM because you always need a cosigner. i will be looking intot he nursing corps bc at this point i am desperate. FAFSA is an actual joke after you get your bachelors. like you said its a sprinkle of money. i do want to invest in my education but as a black female with no cosigner i really have no idea what to do at this point....but looking at the nursing corps is gonna have to do it for me
I completely understand, its one of those topics that I feel like not too many people are real and honest about it. Im sorry you are going through this now :( I know a cosigner is not ideal and like you said FAFSA legit doesn't give much once you've graduated so yes nursing corps and other scholarships would be a good path for you ! Don't let this obstacle deter you from still continue to reach your goal. There is a way and I believe you will find an option that is the right fit for you
@@rena19872007 so thank God for my first semester ill only have to a=pay 5k, second semester 5600$ so thats doable for me for now because I have a bit saved up. but for my last two semesters I might go with discover because my friend used them for her masters program
Hi Ashley. Thank you for this video! I will be looking into loans as my primary way to pay. This video helped me A LOT. I was accepted to the ABSN at NYU in April. I am already a NYer so I plan to commute by subway. I am curious about how you were commuting before moving to online instruction. Did you move to NY? Were you commuting?
Hi Shantae, I’m super glad to hear that, congrats ! And yes ! I was commuting and if all is well come fall I’ll continue to do so. To get to classes I took a Bus to get into the city and then a bus to get me closer to the school (M34A). Depending on which hospital I’m placed at I then take the subway. A lot of people in the program are commuting from all different parts of New York and Jersey ! Trust me a lot of ya share the same struggle lol. Wasn’t sure if I should make a video on it but maybe I will down the line 😊💕
These are great tips ! Feel much better about loans after watching this but questions? When you got Into NYU , was that the only school you applied to or you had to choose ? I’m indecisive if I should go to NYU or another school financially ?
laddiieh smile I’m so glad to hear that 💕!! When applying my options were limited to 2 schools but mainly because those were the schools that would accept my pre reqs without me having to retake them. So I was really taking a risk only applying to 2 but I’m happy it worked out. I will say this, please do whatever is financially best for your situation 🙏🏾 If you are crunching your numbers and you feel like one school is more cost effective then that is smart as well. Since I was in a program before and didn’t like it I really just wanted to go to a very good school this time around but if i for sure weighed my options before deciding 💜 ! Which other school were you looking at?
You’re like Godsent❤️ but yeah that happens to me before I was at a school I didn’t like the program that’s why I want to make sure the next one I go to is a good school and have a great supportive system ! But I’m looking into UMFK ( University of Maine at Fort Kent ) start in the summer and NYU . I have got my acceptance letter from UMFK. Now I’m just waiting on NYU to decide
laddiieh smile That’s so awesome ! When you get into NYU (I’m speaking positive ) lol you’ll have 2 great options and whichever you choose you know you’ll be an RN at the end of the day 💕. Please keep me posted on your success !! I’d love to hear about it 💜
Feel you girl! Keep up the spirit! Graduated bachelors food technology year 2016 and noooow 2020 I’m taking another BS which is Nursing. I know everything boils down to 💴 💰 but what matters is the long term fulfillment of being a nurse as a profession.
Hi Ashley, thank you for the informative video! Fellow Nyer! I was recently accepted (and hope others on here will also). I was wondering what you did in the summer leading up to the ABSN program. Did you review or work or volunteer? I'm hoping to get a job that I can continue into the school year. -Fiona
sweetbunny128 Hi Fiona, Thank you so much for watching it 💕! And major congrats hope to see you in the Fall 😊.. But yes I honestly took the time to mentally prepare and I worked right up until I started. I was really just trying to save what money I could etc. I knew for example that this summer I would be busy in classes so I just enjoyed my last free summer ! But now with Covid I’d say just try to work and enjoy your free time as best you can 💕
I literally enjoy all of your NYU information videos. Because of you, I applied to transfer from my community college to the nursing program in fall. Fingers cross🤞🏾🤞🏾I hope I get accepted
I have a question. If I’m applying for nursing as my first degree to nyu, do I apply with other students or is there a special application. Also, do I like complete my freshman year before moving to nursing school?
Just got accepted into an ABSN program, I am currently living at home but still have car note and insurance and other bills to pay. Do the loans cover living expenses? I know you have made a "working in Nursing school video" which Im about to check out. But, seriously concerned about them bills. :/ lol
Completely understand ! Its something to consider for sure.. However I do know students that take out extra funds to cover their other expenses while in school like rent.. or even food, travel etc. !! Many people do it as long as it works for you in the long run.
girl idk if you would know this, but i heard if you graduate form nyu nursing and work for nyu for a certain amount of time your loans get forgiven. Is that right ?
Thank you for this info! Because of you started looking into that NJ federal loan, it does state $40,000 income is a minimum requirement. I currently do not work and not planning to make this much while in NYU absn program. Is there any way to go around it?
Keidy Garcia not dumb at all lol actually a very good question ! So all schools have access to this website that shows how much each student has used but that’s only after the student has been admitted and accepted and then once they offer your package to you. But their is a way to contact financial aid to determine how much you have used. You can find out by going to: www.studentaid.ed.gov/. This way it can show you all the money you have used ! Hope that helped 😊
Hey hun ! So I don't know the exact cost because it actually changes every semester and increases every semester unfortunately. Plus what one student pays may not be the same amount another student pays based off of their financial aid package or scholarship ! But one thing I know for sure is that at the end of the program you can expect to pay anywhere between 80-100k . Of course it can be either less or more but that's roughly the range for this program.
Im not 100 percent sure honestly, I've only briefly looked into that option since I wasn't interested in it but I know there is a lot of info available online about it and other YT videos of people speaking about it.
