Meta is now selling more Quest 2 headsets than Microsoft is selling XBox consoles. $299 self contained VR system and it can also be connected to a PC. Omni is getting big and will only get bigger. Although VR was pitched to gamers half of them are using it to socialize and go clubbing in VR. There is room for a lower cost full body tracking as it costs $900 to get the Vive tracking system if you own an a Quest, as you need to buy the laser projectors those who bought the Vive or Index already have. VR gets way better when your whole body is in it.
Body tracking opens up an even cheaper omni option to be made.

Granted, I am, and have always been, physically active, and also know that the main thing holding VR immersion back is the freedom to run and jump in a platforming scenario. Yes, people will be winded, but they will lose a TREMENDOUS amount of weight and we'd be in the best shape of our lives, and will be an end to motion sickness if the movement is registered flawlessly in-game, which was what is stopping my wife, uncle-in-law, best friend, and countless others from enjoying VR (The motion sickness).

I used this or something exactly like this at an adult arcade, cost 5 bucks for about 20 minutes. I was on a zombie killing team with 3 other players in a VR world together. We squad up take down zombies in a VR gun game getting new guns every minute or so and it was a blast. The arcade also emails you the footage from in game and in the room showing how funny the 4 players look in real life. Totally worth the $5 and it was packed massive line.

An Xbox/PlayStation is gonna cost you $450 and PC gamers spend $1500+ on their setups including a mic, headphones, speakers, rbg lighting and so on. Gamers are used to spending money to complete a setup so I don’t see the problem with the gun and the rift not being included. It just allows the gamer to build their own platform and allows for more customization which is what gamers want. I think this is awesome I always felt VR is not as immersive as it could be cause you’re just standing there, and can only more around a small area. I once created a max tracking zone for the oculus quest in a warehouse and it was fun to be able to walk around a lot more, but to have this in your home is even better plus you never have to worry about hitting boundaries.

There's virtual cafes and arcades offering VR games. Like Barbara has said most people won't have the space to set up something like this in their home. Unless you're able to make it mobile or portable most people can play VR games without it.
Then you also have the price. Assuming you have a PC that can play VR games you'll still need to buy the headset which isn't cheap.
I think the best move is to get things like this into gyms. Running on treadmills is so boring even though I've seen some with built in TVs it's just not fun. Not to mention every new year there's a wave of new comers, and guess what I bet a portion of them are gamers that want to get fit.
Honestly I'm surprised I haven't seen gyms adopting this idea yet. Like setting up a dedicated VR area.

pretty short sighted that this could be used as a basic controller which can be used for aiming and orientating yourself in the virtual world. it would only take a single motion or click of a button to propell yourself within that world. therefore you wouldn't have to keep running for an hr straight- it would be exactly like a mech-suit or a submarine suit with thrusters. you would be able to endlessly coast through the 3D environment with no effort.
