Good customer relations, communications etc., is an important part of any business. You can be the most skilled person in your profession, but if you don't know how to handle clients, they are not going to be happy with you. Simple things like returning a phone call in a timely manner or contacting them to keep them in the loop can make a huge difference. Although, I agree with you about being cautious about taking on a client who just fired their lawyer. Would you hire someone who had terrible things to say about their employer. And would it be wise to marry a woman who cheated on her last husband? A person's last relationship, business or personal, can be a good indication of how they will treat you.

In the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct it specifically states that the lawyer is supposed to communicate with the client in a timely manner. So if they violate that rule, they are not doing their job as a professional. WTH is so hard about communication?!? The lawyer has been hired to do something they're experts at and they need to let the client know how things are proceeding, especially if they have been asked by the client via email, text or phone and simply ignoring the client is not being professional. Period. Apparently it's common!!

I have fired 2 different lawyers back in the 1970's, I could tell by their demeanor that they were colluding with the opposing side. Finally, the third attorney conducted himself correctly and I was very satisfied with his handling my side. He must be in his 70's now and I would bet he had a wonderful career. His ambition and ethics were conducted as a proper attorney.

I will totally disagree with you on one area. If a lawyer is great in court but poor with clients, he is a poor lawyer. He is responsible to his clients first and if he can not communicate with them properly or falls short on the administration side he is of poor use to his clients. It can be very frustrating to have a lawyer who doesn't keep you informed and the client is living with the stress of the court proceedings plus the stress of not knowing whats going on.
This applies to both criminal and civil lawyers

this guy is full of BS, he only sees the side of the lawyers and not the client who is actually PAYING for services to be rendered and not being respected as a client!!! I would never hire a NARCISSIST ATTORNEY !!! A client is not a lawyer he needs to be kept updated for he is the one that would get F if the lawyer oversees something important!!!

Here is the problem with my public defender I had for 2 years , i had alot of them but ill simplyfy it with one example ,
She always told me not to talk to about my case to anyone else , but she never said why , it wasn't until my case was over I found out on UA-cam that it breaks privilege and could make more witnesses against me .
So attorneys need to be honest and forward with their clients instead of us starting to believe they aren't doing what they can for us

"When I take over another's lawyer's cases" is maybe a little closer to the right title here :) But it is difficult to criticize other counsel's behaviour, and we've all lost clients who were not willing to take good advice.
Having said that, Terry, in another comment, is absolutely correct that good customer relations is critical to the practice of law.

This Lawyer would definitely be a lawyer I would fire. His one sided argument is unethical.

I was impressed with your past videos. I however take great offense as a professional, you telling people to not fire their lawyers. Ontario has a very serious problem with your legal system that you operate. Since when in litigation is there ever any money left over for the clients? I have seen an abundance of corruption, incompetence and lazy lawyers. Shame on you suggesting these individuals should not be fired. How dare you blame the client!!! Unbelievable.

Totally agreed. I hired a "trial lawyer" for 15k. We were ready for trial. My case was pretty straight forward. Everything was going smooth until the week before trial when be spent alot of his time trying to convince me take a 2year deal after already taking payment for trial. Im so glad i fired him. I was aquited at trial with my new lawyer. He took my 15k and didnt accomplish anything and refuses to give me reciept. These lawyers are everything but ethical

Of all the professions out there, doctors, engineers, CPAs, attorneys are the worst! They are the most corrupt, least honest, have zero accountability for their actions, win or lose, they still make bank! Is there any wonder why this profession is the most hated and least trusted by the public???!!!!

It sounds more one-sided on this video... I know this wasn't a video based on sides but based on when to fire your lawyer. But this video sounds more of a different title. Just voicing my opinion. I have a case that I would call a slam dunk. But once again liking every attorney or legal video I come upon it is based off of communication. And just like they did leave a message before answering the phone and just called me be recorded but that goes on my side too. Every time I see a warning to myself as in this would be recorded are they have to put some kind of note in there that they have to report something or give me any kind of negativity that could occur I make sure that I place a secondary guard up even for reaching out for help. Because I found in my years back in my early twenties is that people don't put this there to protect you they put it there to protect theirselves because most likely this has occurred to where they did something very shady and it came back on them. So they're trying to cover each loosen on their sides and that sends many red flags up as to where I need to do the same or this person might burn me just like the rest of them. And this goes for any person in my life all the way down to my kids. Now back to the subject at hand. I know nothing of the law so because of this I make sure not to get in the Lost way as in break any of the rules or cause any kind of tension to myself in general. I wish I had a relationship with my attorney but I do not because of their communication. 3-5 times my attorney assistant has contacted me. And I don't even believe it's them I believe it is my attorney this whole time so it is easiest to say I don't have any knowledge of that but I would speak to the attorney and get back to you. This is just their way of having time to answer my question and go back to their notes and hopefully they made notes. But all the times that they tried to contact me back was just to hear my case all over again because they do not have my paperwork anymore. I talked more to answering machine and any human being on the other side of the number I'm calling. I want to left a message that if they are really that busy all you have to do is tell me and I will leave you alone even if it's past a year because I do know these take time sometimes. I gave him any reason or excuse they could think of in was understanding about it and they still have yet to respond to me to where I thought they went bankruptcy and they'll offer didn't exist anymore. It appears that they changed their phone number ever never told me. Every time someone contact me it's a different person supposedly. I have yet to receive one follow-up in 3 years. Everytime I look for a new lawyer they tell me that I'm not that kind of lawyer and they cannot refer me to anyone else because they don't have anyone else's information before even hearing my case. There is 0% of anyone willing to help another person out that ain't trying to make some kind of big money off of it even if it's little money. I have my whole case on paper and they still can't get the job done or even started

Thankfully i didnt listen to this guy. I was told by my lawyer to take a 2 year deal after paying 15k cash. I fired him. I changed lawyers and was aquitted at trial. Yet you guys say clients are the problem 🤣 you guys are jokes. And the the whole ontario legal system with lawyers isnt "ethical". You should not talk about ethics. What a joke these lawyers are. I would be very careful hiring a laywer that likes to blames clients when theres a bunch of shit ontario lawyers out there taking money for trials and wanting to make deals. Even if its a "slam dunk"

Worst advise ever. You never mention about predatory billing criminal lawyer like the one I encountered, who take advantage on people in desperate needs . He worked on nothing and keep billing us for work that cannot be shown.
