Jay - you have proven once more you have more money and balls than brains...and we all admire you for it. Enjoy your Independence Day. God bless America.
You can say that again. I saw these guys at the TT Assen track, and just like Jay had a loss of control so did one of those drivers that day. Unfortunately the monkey got tossed out and onto the track, and before he knew it he got ran over by one of the racers behind them. That sidecar monkey unfortunately lost his life that day. Here's a video of the sad moment just to show everyone the balls these guys must have to put their life on the line: ua-cam.com/video/AyCxe7_k-HE/v-deo.html ps. Just so you know... that impact sound is something you could hear across the entire circuit. It still makes me cringe evertime I hear it. R.I.P. Sandor Pohl
Jay, I'm so pleased you are developing Jay Leno's Garage. I've enjoyed each episode I've seen thus far. Good work Bernard - we'd like to see and hear more from him too. Thank you for sharing your passion on UA-cam...currently the best way to broadcast video.
My only time at the TT was 2016 and I marshalled every race and practice. There were a couple of deaths that year from the sidecar family. I loved them as much as the super bikes. When I was marshalling at the Mountain box the senior marshal gave me some valuable advice - when a bike rider has trouble and pulls in here do not go up to them right away to talk talk to them - side car guys - well they are just crazy and you won’t have trouble going up to them right away haha. They are a great group for sure.
4:48 - I'm a big lad like Mr. Leno and when I raced Karts in the UK back in the 1970's, I'd often feel the crutch/crotch of my racing leathers being 'plucked' by the tarmac once the kart's seat had worn through on the track's 'dips'. Great times - I wish I could revisit them...
When I picked up my first outfit after the sidecar had been attached to my 1950 Matchless 500 single, the sidecar specialist asked me had I ridden one before (no). He then pointed to the garage door opposite his shop and there was a big dent in it. He said that was the last guy...who despite leaning very hard, just drove straight into it. He gave me some pointers and off I went. How I got home in one piece, I'll never know. But I quickly grew to love sidecar outfits. Best ride ever was driving up to my wife's parents place in the country (in Oz) with her in the chair, at night. We somehow ended up having a race with an 18 wheeler semi-trailer and we were surprisingly evenly matched. He could overtake me on the long straights and I got him on the corners. Insane fun. :-)
just wanted to say that this is MUCH better than the other stuff from the new show so far. A lot of the other stuff just felt way over produced. Honestly, the best formula for this kind of stuff is KISS. Let the content (cars and Jay's humor) sell itself. We don't need all the flashy stuff.
Man that looks like so much fun! I consider myself a great sports bike rider, I've gone to Angeles Crest, maxing out my ZX6RR but this looks like I would love to try. Jay' your pretty amazing and always impress with what ever you drive and or ride. Great skills Jay.
The big guy reminds me of the guys I used to hang out with in high school. Ah memories... Clay, Greg, and Mark were all huge and really good guys. Never had any trouble with bullies back then, I don't know why...
This is really great fun, though I also still prefer the UA-cam way of doing stuff on JLG. I think Jay's warmth and personality, knowledge and interest comes through far better in that format which is very watchable and unique. I don't think turning this stuff into generic tv action stuff really makes it any better - but I appreciate that maybe the idea is to expand the audience base.
That is NUTS first time out. Like your style Jay. I too have got a (Dutch) sidecar champ Kees Kentrop to build my outfit... and he's crazy too! Only difference is that Kees owns the garage!
Gotta love jay for doing stuff like this for us. I mean I could watch some other random guy do it but seeing jay on there is just fuckin awesome. Jay is the fuckin man.
I don't know Jay.... you and that "I've never done this before".Hope that bucket list doesn't get to where they bring you back "in" the bucket.Looked like a heck of a lot of fun!
Yes a lot of fun but think still a way to go before can Say like a pro try on you tube for CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECARS SOUTHERN 100 ISLE OF MAN not the 37plus mile mountain course but a smaller 4plus mile on in the south of the island
My adrenaline was pumping the rest of the video after you hit the gravel. So, tell the truth Jay - you drove out of the pit, were on a tow dolly for the face shots, and the rest was stunt man. Yes?
I appreciate these clips because I don't have cable (that's an archaic form of viewing shows for anyone who doesn't know what cable is), but I got to say that I like your YT channel better. I still enjoy it though.
Amate of mine built a sidecar for hi GT750 years ago , it could seat two adults or 4 small kids, plus you could fold the seats down and sleep in it.That thing was longer than the bike.
Talk about "Balls against the Walls ERRR where ever". It is amazing monkey stays on. Anybody placing any bets as if to Leno gives it a second shot? This does give you an up close and personal perspective. Bob, if we are related I would have to consider you the CRAZY side of the family tree. ANFW Happy and safe racing to you and yours.
Jay I can't believe you actually did that! That looked a little too hairy. Thanks for the you tube videos, really like your show, and the garage. Thanks. Johnny
Jay, I'm 65 years old, and you are one of the coolest guys I don''t know. Thanks for all you do for motoring.
Way to go Jay! I gotta tell ya, in all seriousness, I've been watching you for decades but I'm a bigger fan than now than I ever was.
The insurance for the show must be ridiculous.
Jay - you have proven once more you have more money and balls than brains...and we all admire you for it. Enjoy your Independence Day. God bless America.
Jay Leno is living more dangerously in recent times.
Sidecar racers are some of the ballsiest people in racing. Right up there with ice racing. Special kind of crazy to do that stuff.

True that!
you ever see them on the isle of man ? ,big balls aha
Watch them at the Isle of Man TT.
board track racers

Flipped a car last week
So this week lets try side kart racing what could go wrong
He didn't flip a car, he was riding in a car that flipped.
"Second generation primate, very good"
Haha!
one of the funniest compliments.. ;}
Who would have thought sidecars had such a competitive following! That passenger has some guts lol
That was pretty cool! I have seen side car races on TV but not as up close as this! The close up's where great!
I love Bernard, would like to see more of him the show
I ageee. he's cool!
Definitely. JAY, YOU READING THIS?
awww yeah! my stickers on the green sidecar got some prime exposure! glad you had fun, Jay!
That brought tears of joy to my eyes. That some people actually get to experience some fun stuff. Go Jay.
You may enjoy on you tube ISLE OF MAN DIE SPORTDOKUMENTION
in German but easy to follow , the last 15 mins show that you can
live your "dreams"
4:48 - I'm a big lad like Mr. Leno and when I raced Karts in the UK back in the 1970's, I'd often feel the crutch/crotch of my racing leathers being 'plucked' by the tarmac once the kart's seat had worn through on the track's 'dips'. Great times - I wish I could revisit them...
I love Leno's videos, makes me smile all over, even laugh, its all a plus for me. Keep um cumin' best FUN!!!
Was expecting the Hemi under glass to roll across the rack and get him.
Hahaha
hahaha
respect it just gets better and better , jay is hitting the top of his game, his genuine enthusiasm makes all the others look like muppets great stuff
So I'm the only one who laughed when he said "I've been tossed off..."
Jay can drive anything, I tells ya! Anything
"I'm starting to get in a groove out here." Weren't those George Custer's last words?
Nope, he said "Hold my beer and watch this!"
"This is a lot of fun!"
**Runs off the track....*
😊😊😊😊

Someone get Jay a 2002 Honda Civic to review
The Gremlin wasn't pedestrian enough for you?
Now that's a GOOD CAR
+Nick Belanger" THIS is the car the kids like"
Why not volunteer yours?
I smell a collab with Regular Car Reviews.
JAY is a doer! way to go Leno!
kyle stewart --- Heck, his wife deserves credit for putting up his shenanigans!
Jay lenos such a badass thank you for what you do for the car community jay!
On his off days Kevin heads up a Ramones tribute band. :o)
Bernard is my hero, he's absolutely brilliant & worth his weight in gold!
This is why we luv jay !!
just wanted to say that this is MUCH better than the other stuff from the new show so far. A lot of the other stuff just felt way over produced. Honestly, the best formula for this kind of stuff is KISS. Let the content (cars and Jay's humor) sell itself. We don't need all the flashy stuff.
I met Kevin this weekend at Side car races here in Alabama. Awesome dude and awesome hobby
3:52, Jay's thinking, there has to be a joke there somewhere
Suddenly I feel like watching the Sidehackers episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000
Just about any episode of MST3K is a winner.
Man that looks like so much fun! I consider myself a great sports bike rider, I've gone to Angeles Crest, maxing out my ZX6RR but this looks like I would love to try. Jay' your pretty amazing and always impress with what ever you drive and or ride. Great skills Jay.
Forget all your motorcycle skills it is completely different.
This brings back my fond memories of Helmut Fath.....What an engineer and racer!
You may enjoy on you tube ISLE OF MAN DIE SPORTDOKUMENTATION
in German but even if don't "sprechen sie deutsch" still easy to follow (ish)
Always love seeing jay try something new and exciting.
The big guy reminds me of the guys I used to hang out with in high school. Ah memories... Clay, Greg, and Mark were all huge and really good guys. Never had any trouble with bullies back then, I don't know why...
I can't imagine.
Good job, caught on pretty quick. Good recovery from the dirt
Those Freddie Spencer replica helmets bring back memories.
Fun clip.
Typical US television, i like the U-tube footage better!
Agreed, don't like the overly dramatic stuff.
This is really great fun, though I also still prefer the UA-cam way of doing stuff on JLG. I think Jay's warmth and personality, knowledge and interest comes through far better in that format which is very watchable and unique. I don't think turning this stuff into generic tv action stuff really makes it any better - but I appreciate that maybe the idea is to expand the audience base.
watch the TT sidecars, now thats fast
That is NUTS first time out. Like your style Jay. I too have got a (Dutch) sidecar champ Kees Kentrop to build my outfit... and he's crazy too! Only difference is that Kees owns the garage!
Gotta love jay for doing stuff like this for us. I mean I could watch some other random guy do it but seeing jay on there is just fuckin awesome. Jay is the fuckin man.
Come'on Jay. ... Love your show; get'em to make a t-shirt for Jay Leno's Garage. ...
"I've been tossed-off by this one..." Everyone in the UK will be chuckling at that!!
Not too shabby, Jay. There's also the "More Moxie Than Brains Club". Pays to take it easy on this new stuff.
After the wheelie car crash now this, I think Jay is realizing his bucket list.
I don't know Jay.... you and that "I've never done this before".Hope that bucket list doesn't get to where they bring you back "in" the bucket.Looked like a heck of a lot of fun!
Well Done Jay Leno... Well Done
super nice of these guys to go that easy on him.
Glad to see Bernard is still with us.
He used to be in JLG all the time, then he stopped, so I thought you two had some kind of issue with eachother.
Based on things coming from Jay Leno, I'm staring to get a pretty big bucket list of stuff to do for when I retire in 25 years - keep it up please! :D
Dang Jay, much respect man. You rode that thing like a pro it looked like. This video was a lot of fun, I was kind of upset when it finished so soon.
Yes a lot of fun but think still a way to go before can Say like a pro try on
you tube for CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECARS SOUTHERN 100 ISLE OF MAN
not the 37plus mile mountain course but a smaller 4plus mile on in the
south of the island
+Tony Pate Thanks for the info, will try tonight!
never heard of it but looks crazy
I heard of this years back, but until now I only thought it was popular in Europe and England and Australia.
That tall guy with the black hair is an interesting character.
I think we'll see him in a future Quentin Tarantino flick, lol. He'd be PERFECT!!
The sidecar killer..
RIP fritz scheidegger,Floriant Camamtias, Helmut fath, rolf biland still a live,we love side car we love kneelers old school
so happy that I found this. awesome video
Maybe a series on kneeler's, basket tubs and worms, Bernard as pilot : )
Jay you rule. Amazing skills bro.
Super! That was pretty cool👍 Much enjoyed!
Thanks J
I’ve never driven one but I did swing for four seasons before the kids came along. Amazing fun. Be keen to see you have a swing with a quick driver. 😈
Have you ever done a complete collection tour? I am interested in seeing what you have.
Definitely one of the more unique reviews. I like it! :D
Never heard of this form of racing... now I'm interested!
Try on You Tube CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECARS SOUTHERN 100 ISLE OF MAN
The dude in the sidecar is a brave man
3:52- what a fella
Could you see David Letterman doing that? lol
*NO.* 😁
My adrenaline was pumping the rest of the video after you hit the gravel.
So, tell the truth Jay - you drove out of the pit, were on a tow dolly for the face shots, and the rest was stunt man. Yes?
Nope , I was there ...
Leno in leathers is quite the sight.
When Jay said "Kevin" , I was expecting Kevin Eubanks
That was really cool. I really enjoyed the race footage. I would like to see more of that type of talking and racing.
Try on you tube CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECARS SOUTHERN 100 just the
Island's small 4 and bit mile course not the 37 plus mountain course
Fun!!! Thanks for the video!!!
Way to go Jay!
I can honestly say "I've done this" Monkey that is, I never drove. Once on a rear out and then on a side out. It is the rush of all time
I appreciate these clips because I don't have cable (that's an archaic form of viewing shows for anyone who doesn't know what cable is), but I got to say that I like your YT channel better. I still enjoy it though.
That looks like fun 👍😊
WARNING! Sidehack racing IS hazardous to your health!
Which is why people do it. It's the same instinct that makes you run *_towards_* something that might bite.
That didn't make a helluva lot of sense but, whatever.
That looks like a lot of fun.
Bonkers, but a great watch. I can see how the sport can become addictive once you get used to it. Well done Jay!
fine job jay !!!!!
Nice recovery!
very cool
Shame they spelled Bernard's name wrong in the UA-cam description.
Anyone else lol at the "I've been tossed off" remark that the big guy made? I do appreciate that it might not be an American term..
Amate of mine built a sidecar for hi GT750 years ago , it could seat two adults or 4 small kids, plus you could fold the seats down and sleep in it.That thing was longer than the bike.

too cool Jay!
Jay seems like he is a good boss.
Yes you have to be a special kind of crazy to race these besides talented.
nice save Jay
That looks pretty scary but fun. Got more balls than me.
Awesome.
its also the thing when you get to a certain age (very late 60,s) 3 wheels are fun.
just hold on tight!
first time out! nice job Jay! I think you hit 130
If you want to see dangerous sidecar racing the Isle of Man TT has it all
Jay I can't believe you actually did that! That looked a little too hairy. Thanks for the you tube videos, really like your show, and the garage. Thanks. Johnny
1:12 anyone having messed up video?
Kevin and I went to Jr. High and High school together. We used to give him a ride home.
Awesome job JAY , now lets see you drive a 500cc pro hydro ?????
