  • Started fishing Baum Lake around 5pm, fish were rising and rolling at the riffle. After trying various dry and dropper combinations, Donna O'Sullivan figured out the trout wanted midges in size 20.
Using the LTS Finesse 8ft6 4wt fly rod, LTS Polyline WF4f and LTS Color2 3/4wt reel, presenting a dead drift initially, then a slow swing and strip was extremely effective! Donna landed over a dozen brown trout, using her brand new custom wood net made by Matt Hawkins, a master net maker in the area. The net worked great and make the fishing extra special!

Nice job Donna. What a great day on Baum. I have fished that spot before but never in winter. Need to get up there!

Thanks for watching Dave! Baum Lake is good in winter, lots of browns if you hit it right. Weekends there are very busy, so go weekdays if you can. Tight lines!
