Hi Paul Roseblade, Your praise and approval of "the Skinnys" couldn't have been better verbalized! We feel exactly the same about Tuba Skinny and their revitalising way of presenting old style jazz.
You folks have brought a joy into my life. Im 64 yrs old and every evening i finaly doze off with Tuba Skinny in my headphones and on the UA-camscreen. No matter the combo of musicians its sublime music. You are all very special humans. Thankyou!
There are certain songs that make me cry (Star Spangled Banner, Louisiana, Battle Hymn of the Republic, etc ... I must be the weakest Loosyana boy there is b/c I'm 54 yrs old and find myself crying during most of Tuba Skinny's song list :( I love the music. Grew up w/ it. I don't know why I cry but something about the music coming from home or this band and they way they execute them really make me emotional. I can't compliment anyone for fear of leaving someone out or putting someone above another. But I would like to thank Ms. Cohn for getting it all together :) Sincerely ........... P.S. thanks for filming it all for us CANDCJ !!
Hey man don't sweat it. I'm 54 too, big ol tattooed biker from up here in the great white north and I gotta admit I get choked up when I hear wee midnight hour cuz it reminds me of my ma n pa when I was a kid, listening to them harmonize late on a humid saturday night. Tuba Skinny, for me the best traditional Dixieland Band from New Orleans (or from the world ??) with the famous ladies Shaye Cohn and Erika Lewis 👏👏🎺🎺🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸❗️
Never change this combination of musici, they are the best in this type of music and ought to play in The Royal Albert Hall or at Wembley’s ! Great quality...
Mr Robert Duis, Thank you for your comment. We love to focus on the conversations between the various instruments and of course the natural behaviour on stage, without grand airs./Best,C&C
I heard it neither before. It is beautiful. I did some search: probably Erika was inspired by the version of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, called 'Rock Me'. Also very nice.

Love the camera work, especially while showing the band interacting between songs. Almost a PBS special in the making... Oh, how I wish!!! Thank you for a killer video, CANDCJ & Thank you Tuba Skinny!!!
I work on, and repair watches to these talented people when they're jamming. Sometimes I just gotta stop cuz I'm tapping my foot too hard. Then I know its break time!
Hi Arne Fredriksen, you might be lucky one day, if you live in Denmark. We harbour a hope of bringing the full group of these lovely people to Sweden within our lifetime.
Man, you better have your shit together with whatever your playing in this band, or else Shaye gonna put the hammer down.. They have over 350 songs last time I read, no music notes, not just playing the song, but better be good too. Notice Shaye had a lot more solos, should do it more often, shows you how unselfish this talent is, no need to grand stand. Amazing band, been listening to them everyday since I discovered them 3 months ago
Thank you very much for sharing this vid ! Great camera work (and quality) ! Oh and just a question... Does anyone know the title of the song that starts at 35'48 ?? (the last in the vid...) ! Thanks in advance !
ok ! great , i mean great , parfait ! bon , et the last song what is it , never heard before , not nouvelle Orléans style !? any clues , merci , thanks
This is one of the best versions of Rock Me I have heard them do. Erika has a way of showing she is singing the songs from her heart. The expressions on her face says it all as she is singing. I know life must go on and good luck to everyone of them but I really miss Erika being with them regularly, nice to know she does still join them from time to time.
