Waste? It's very interesting if you ask me. Also, I have a theory on why the bugs become infected right before fighting you. Possibly they were infected right before being let loose to make it harder for the knight, similar to how bulls are angered before bullfights. However, their entries in the hunter's journal says they were fighting for glory, which an infected bug wouldn't care about, so I'm not actually sure.
"Silksong will be free for kickstarter backers" I thought it was originally going to be a free DLC pack? Whenst the fuck did you decide it was going to be paid regardless of whether you have Hollow Knight or not, Team Cherry?

But he also has them coming out of his back onto his frontward shell. These black streaks are really interesting to me. They are usually only found on bugs located in the Ancient Basin as well as the bug in the Queen's Garden who held the Love Key. The lighthouse keeper as well as a few of the Sibling Shells found in the Abyss also have them. The fact that the streaks are black and that most of the bugs that have them are near the Abyss always made me associate this feature with the Void. Of course, this might just be selective memory. Maybe there are bugs in other places higher up in the world that have these streaks. In fact, there are streaks on the mask tied up above the Lord Fool, which means these streams might just be a stylistic way of showing age. I swear to god, i wrote this up before the trailer reveal, so i hope that the Hollow Knight did actually train at the Colosseum. But i don't know.) Maybe these black streaks don't mean anything. Let's look at question 2. Why isn't anybody infected? Well, maybe it's similar to the case of the inhabitants of Dirtmouth. The infection isn't as strong on the surface of the world. This theory doesn't really make sense if we look at the Howling Cliffs. It's on the surface too, but the bugs out there are still infected. So that seems a little off. These bugs might just be strong enough to resist the infection. A few of the bugs in the audience can be found in the Forgotten Crossroads, which shows that they can resist the infection like Tiso and Quirrel can. But here's where things stop making any fucking sense. So when you're underneath the Colosseum, you can see a number of bugs that aren't infected. But then during the fight, they are infected as we can see from the orange particles that fly off of them. So yeah, that doesn't make any sense but this probably doesn't actually matter. In fact, i've seen people argue that the entire area should be ignored in terms of lore. So I actually slowed down to read the Colosseum of Fools stuff and my explanation for why the fools aren’t infected is that whenever we actually see someone falling to the infection their usually in a trance or daze (Sly, Bretta, and Myla) the trance seems to be easily broken by having something else take their attention, the Colosseum seems to be a perfect place to have something constantly take your attention. As for the “infected” fighters, the Hunter mentions that people who are infected gain more physical strength plus the fighter npcs you meet seem to be in a Myla-like trance
Mister Bean Also I just realized that the fighters all pop out of these glowing orange chambers that go dark when they emerge? So it could be possible that these fighters are intentionally being exposed to the infection so that they can fight more strongly?
The statue of the Pale King, the White Lady and the Hollow Knight just shows how they ended up with a family relationship. The Pale King and the White Lady saw Hollow Knight as their son (they created him anyway) and the Knight ended up seeing them as their parents. The removed nail dialogue from the Hollow Knight ("Father?") seems to support this, as well the DLC scene where the King and Knight exchange looks. Maybe Hollow Knight was really hollow to begin with, but this relationship "corrupted" him to the point that he was no longer a pure vessel.
Ribas Daniel Actually the hollow knight was technically never perfect for the job, since in the voidheart cutscene where you are left behind the THK looks back at you, either in confusion or sadness. This brief moment is the only thing that is needed for THK to be considered impure, as he is shown to have emotions. Other proof of his emotions are his relationship with the king and of course his dialogue like you said.
Tidal Gaming not sure it’s the presence of emotions that’s the imperfection, rather than the presence of independence. I thought the latter, not the former. Either way the scene betrays the HK to have both.
The end of the Path of Pain confirms that the Pale King is the reason the Hollow Knight failed. The dude made himself a father figure to the Knight, but still went forward to trap Radiance in It, even though the Knight was tarnished with a thought. The White Lady further confirms this, "an idea instilled". The Hollow Knight looking back at the knight in the Voidheart/Birthplace cutscene could've just been reaction to stimulus, not emotion, I guess.
@@Rtmmms I personally interpreted that scene as proof the Pure Vessel truly was hollow. They willingly left behind their own sibling only sparing a glance, probably due to sound or instinct. It could be interpreted that they truly were hollow until the Pale King instilled a fatherly bond.
Y'all probably figured this out already but I think the "sad truth" of the hive is that the queen is long since dead but the bees still protect her and the hive as if she's alive
I would have love if in beasts den when you got to herra an invincible boss would appear and you would have to run through the tight corridors to the thing with a seal, it would fit deepnest so much
I just realized something... In those sketches, there were mentions of a trilobite, right? And Trilobites blood, has a very high esteem for having regenerating properties, and in the sketches, there were a bunch of pipelines that were trailing out of the trilobite, so maybe the king of Hallownest was draining the trilobite of its blood, and that is what lifeblood is supposed to be?
The one problem with that is that you mention "the king of Hallownest was draining the trilobite of its blood," when the king of Hallownest (the Pale King) deemed Lifeblood a *"heresy",* and, by extension, deemed *Joni* (who, in her death, created *Joni's Blessing)* the *"kindly heretic".* The trilobite is found in Deepnest, a separate area (kingdom?) opposed to the Pale King, and specifically in the *Beast's Den* within the Distant Village located deep within Deepnest (lol). If use a spell on the trilobite, a *Seal of Binding* will appear over it. We have no idea what the purpose of this thing is (or was), but draining it's blood for Lifeblood is a possibility, seeing as there's nothing to disprove it. However, there's no evidence to support it either. It's an interesting idea, and I do think *Team Cherry* should address this. It's a possibility it'll be addressed in *Silksong,* and for that, I'm hyped (as if I wasn't already, heh).
@@bowserjjumetroid3645 The pale king had a project for soul though, maybe the trilobyte, excuse my spelling errors, maybe it had strong soul, cause soul is used to regenerate life. So it'd make sense
Actually I'm pretty glad the Forest of Bones was cut out. The lava just doesn't fit with the game's desolate atmosphere. Thanks for letting me know there were revealed sketches for the early development; I'm gonna search for then right now! :)
The "3" queens hornets still works Just replace vespa with the sisters of battle (mantis lords) because hornet fight and has a weapon similarly to them
When the Nailsmith and Sheo are crafting wooden sculptures, Sheo is making the Dung defender and The Nailmaster is crafting the enemy in the White Palace.
Regarding the Colosseum of Fools, the Godmaster DLC provides extra information. When you fight a forgotten champion called the Pale Lurker behind the Colosseum, she doesn't drop little infection particles when you hit her. And the Hunter's Journal states that she doesn't even know about the infection because she's trapped in her own madness. So now we know why the spectators in the Colosseum aren't infected: they were already mad before the Infection took over Hallownest, and they were "protected" of the infection by their madness, since the Infection can only target sane beings as we know thanks to the Pale Lurker's entry.
Radiance: "To steal the soul of weaker creatures is a blasphemy against the light!" Also Radiance: "Yo, wizard dude. Soul is the key to stopping the infection."

Oh shit, I was just rewatching this for the 5th time and I just realized I haven't commented on this yet (and I comment on every Hollow Knight video!) Love your videos Mossbag, you are one of the people who got me into making Hollow Knight content... well... "content". At least your videos are actually worth people's time. Just wanted to say that you are just Mobadis. I would comment something about the video but it will just be me listing all the things I loved here so... My favorite part 0:00 - 34:19
The picture of the dreamers with the 10 legs in the sketchbook might have been a boss like nosk where you would dream nail the dreamers and instead of going into there mind they would mutate into a boss, this could have also just turned into the nosk fight
5:50 mossbag, remember when you said in your "hollow knight history" video that the knight's movement was inspired on megaman's. I guess that what the white cristal ring was for (charging your nail will shot out the vengeful spirit)
Damn, imagine the size of this game if they had hit all the stretch goals. Such a shame, I would've loved to explore more of the Abyss and Ants would've been cool as well.
I just gotta say...you're the best guy to turn to for my lore cravings. Thanks for the extremely (I assume) hard work. You're videos are very enjoyable and informative. Please keep it up!
I think that the radiance is connected to the crystals, because the cristal creatures can make LIGHT attacks, mala getan infected, and on the top of the crystal Peaks there is a Statue with the shape of the radiance, and then you encaunter the MOTH because you fall from the crystal peaks.
I really hope that, when Team Cherry stops updating the game with content (wasn't there a plan for paid DLC?), they will release the Lore Bible. I don't think I'll be able to live a joyful and fulfilling life without knowing TC full intentions with the Void, SOUL, The Black Kingdom, The Wasteland (and the world in which Hollownest resides for that matter), The Pale King, and especially that FUCKING STATUE BEHIND THE CHEST WITH THE FURY OF THE FALLEN CHARM GOD WHY THE FUCK IS THAT THERE? WAS THERE ANY PLAN TO USE THIS? WAS THIS "FALLEN" A HIGHER BEING?? WAS HE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE FOREST OF BONES (along with the charm, that is)????? IT CERTAINLY SEEEMS SO, BUT WHY BOTHER ADDING THAT STATUE THAT PRETTY MUCH REEKS OF THE DEAD CREATURE THAT IS KEPT AS A TROPHY IN THE COLOSSEUM OF FOOLS WHICH IS ALSO LINKED IN DESIGN WITH THE GOD TAMER'S PET (WHICH, GOING BY THE DEV NOTE, IS A HIGHER BEING) YET THIS ONE HAS AN UNIQUE APPEARANCE (the red hue, a shit ton of those curly spikes) AND A NAME (even tho the name may just reference anyone that has died, or "fallen", but I have no idea how to call that creature in the background soooo)
Pay attention to the Gods and Glory trailer. After the word "God" flashes on screen, look at the face. Reminds me of that one uncut charm. The one that looked like Carefree Melody.
Nick Nirus and Boblesopp, if you look at the Radiance, you can see that the area above her face is clear: no feathers, no foliage, nothing. The curves above the eyes also peak at the top in the image, unlike the Radiance, where the edges go back down a little bit before ending. However, the cut charm is curved in an entirely different way than the shown picture, after a second comparison. But, due to this being cut content, it is still subject to change.
good god the egg man randomly appearing in a video about hollow knight. very unexpected ive been binging your channel for a couple of hours and had to be like huh
11:21 How he got past this part is that, like most other NPCs, they can break some of the rules that we, the player, cannot accomplish until we follow these rules. Take, for example, the Void Barriers or whatever they are called. We cannot pass them until getting the shade cloak, but any other NPC can, such as Grimmchild and Cloth (because getting to Traitor Lord requires Shade Cloak) So, while this may seem improbable, being a nail smith, he could have easily gotten another nail and cut the vine that was holding the block up, he could have used said nail (if he decided to do this in the first place) to get past the platforming section, or, he could have used the block and threw it onto the spikes, thus skipping having to use the Crystal Heart to get over to the other platforms Or, since he is a nail smith, he could have made the nails for all the Nail Masters, and that meant he knew about what they were trying to accomplish in their life, from Sheo wanting to paint, Oro isolating himself from the rest of the world, and Mayo wanting to reach the top of Hallownest, and that he thought/believed that Sheo would help him find a new calling, which did happen in the end. Or, maybe I’m just trying to explain something that is for a good ending (Nail Smith finding a new calling) :D
For me the most underwhelming part of Hollow Knight was Distant Village, I was so excited to face a spider boss there, especially after that bench trap scene. But there was nothing, the game just hands you Herrah on a plate of silver. Team Cherry shouldn't have shown us a trailer with exciting stuff just to get it cut in the end.
I set the playback speed to 0.25 and read the entire 16:30 - 16:32 text box-- and I actually found your rant pretty interesting- I also think that the dark streaks around the dead character's eyes may relate to the void, possibly showing it as the cause of their death somehow(?)
The spider boss supposed to being in the game makes so much sense in the scene where you get stuck on the bench. The npcs all die when you get back there, you hear that roar, and also u wake back up stuck in web
blundering obelisk: i was replaced by the moss charger entering the dreams of characters: i was replaced by dream bosses the hive: i now actually have my boss :D the void: i have not got any bosses remaining, but one of them was probably the statue that gives you void dash the void creature: i come out of characters but I'm also in the void not as the players but as their dead siblings

Pale King mightve added the goal for them to be a vessel of the radiance. Since they had a goal none of the vessel ended up hollow.
@@Rtmmms
I personally interpreted that scene as proof the Pure Vessel truly was hollow.
I would have love if in beasts den when you got to herra an invincible boss would appear and you would have to run through the tight corridors to the thing with a seal, it would fit deepnest so much
So why did Blundering Oberlisk get the axe?
Team Cherry needed to save some enemies for Silksong.
If you've seen Silksong trailer, the lava dungeon and giant mecha boss is there though
worldfilledwithmore true
and maybe the giant spider boss was cut to be placed in silk song because there's no way there will be just one giant boss in silk song
Isaac Kim - Very interesting! You should go post that in the Hollow Knight Amino
And horseshoe crabs, a descendant of the trilobite, has BLUE blood!
The one problem with that is that you mention "the king of Hallownest was draining the trilobite of its blood," when the king of Hallownest (the Pale King) deemed Lifeblood a *"heresy",* and, by extension, deemed *Joni* (who, in her death, created *Joni's Blessing)* the *"kindly heretic".*
The trilobite is found in Deepnest, a separate area (kingdom?) opposed to the Pale King, and specifically in the *Beast's Den* within the Distant Village located deep within Deepnest (lol).
Well, probably not, but you are on the right track.
Actually I'm pretty glad the Forest of Bones was cut out. The lava just doesn't fit with the game's desolate atmosphere. Thanks for letting me know there were revealed sketches for the early development; I'm gonna search for then right now! :)
At least they added the lava back in into Silksong lol
I’d disagree with that, but okay.
14:22 its so funny listening to team cherry trying so hard to not accidentely reveal silk song before its reveal
Mossbag: Most of the bosses in Hollow Knight were small
Silksong trailer: we don’t do that here
*nailsmith at **11:32**:*
*"Draw me like one of your French bugs"*

It simply mean that Pale King and Lady used to care for Hollow Knight like for their son
*forest of bones is cut*
Silksong : *looks around the corner*
Silksong actually has a place that looks like holy grounds in the trailer
Silksong: psssst... Hollow knight 1...git gud
Im glad that silksong might utilize some cut content from hollow knight
Might get cut again ;)
what i would would say is:
Silksong: What am I to you? a rouch?!
Mossbag : the hive is connected to kingdom’s edge in the final game , which is as far as you can get from deepnest
Crystal peak : am I a joke to you?
Hallownests crown specifically: am I joke to you?
Can we talk about how this legend puts up time stamps in every single one of his videos?
Zote vs Snail or we riot
The "3" queens hornets still works
Just replace vespa with the sisters of battle (mantis lords) because hornet fight and has a weapon similarly to them
33:31 And your wish is granted!
Wait a minute I never know Mossbag noticed me holy shit
@@snkr4240 lol
yes
When the Nailsmith and Sheo are crafting wooden sculptures, Sheo is making the Dung defender and The Nailmaster is crafting the enemy in the White Palace.
The enemies in white palace is called kingsmould and fun fact, dung defender is actually called ogrim
That's a pretty coll detail, that the only nailmaster with knowledge of the great knights is making one
Huh, I was rewatching this and it's fucking cool to see that the "lame enemy" (the small bug with wings) you mention wil appear on Silksong

Ari Gibson in the Reddit AMA: *allow me to introduce myself*
Maybe fire was replaced with void and the siblings are the ants, mindless alone, but together can take on gods?
Either an outstanding coincidence or it was all planned. Genious
Nah, he said that there was originally an entrance to the abyss from the forest of bone, so that stuff would’ve already existed
Radiance: "To steal the soul of weaker creatures is a blasphemy against the light!"
Also Radiance: "Yo, wizard dude. Soul is the key to stopping the infection."
Didn't know people thought Nosk's fight was lame. it was really hard for me. Flying nosk was a breeze in comparison

An UNN-used NPC! Because Unn is a slug, and slugs are similar to snails! Get it!
Watching a video from my favorite youtuber talking about my favorite game while making a rig in blender about the main character from said game so I can graduate my favorite class.

Keith Redacted I really like your videos!!!
So im not the only one who is watching this video the 7th time
Lilith does stuff who cannot be?
no thats just my phones auto fix lol
I need more of your theories and deep lore to temporarily forget about my crippling depression
I shall know go to every video you uploaded to comment that the hive has a boss now.
Silksong: so I heard you wanted to see ants
I just gotta say...you're the best guy to turn to for my lore cravings. Thanks for the extremely (I assume) hard work. You're videos are very enjoyable and informative. Please keep it up!
Mossbag:
Sees winged Nosk sketch: HOLY SH*T IT HAS WINGS!
Me, a time traveller from 2020: Oh yeah, Godmaster Nosk!
MB: GodWHAT?!
I think that the radiance is connected to the crystals, because the cristal creatures can make LIGHT attacks, mala getan infected, and on the top of the crystal Peaks there is a Statue with the shape of the radiance, and then you encaunter the MOTH because you fall from the crystal peaks.
when you about to study but then mossbag drops a new one and you physically can't anymore
The hell I didn’t know northernlion was in a stream with team cherry
EYYY
“8/10, needs more Bretta” - official mossbag hollow knight review
UA-cam is telling me that this is a music video and cannot be played in the background
Pay attention to the Gods and Glory trailer. After the word "God" flashes on screen, look at the face. Reminds me of that one uncut charm. The one that looked like Carefree Melody.
Both of htem look like Radiance, too.
The Carefree Melody-esque charm also looks quite a lot like the face of a Moss Knight.
Jasper L that’s the Radiance
Nick Nirus and Boblesopp, if you look at the Radiance, you can see that the area above her face is clear: no feathers, no foliage, nothing. The curves above the eyes also peak at the top in the image, unlike the Radiance, where the edges go back down a little bit before ending. However, the cut charm is curved in an entirely different way than the shown picture, after a second comparison. But, due to this being cut content, it is still subject to change.
Thats the absolute radiance
10/10 video
This game along with Shovel Knight and OwlBoy are some of the best indie game ever imo.
This may be my favourite game of all time.

How he got past this part is that, like most other NPCs, they can break some of the rules that we, the player, cannot accomplish until we follow these rules.
Take, for example, the Void Barriers or whatever they are called. We cannot pass them until getting the shade cloak, but any other NPC can, such as Grimmchild and Cloth (because getting to Traitor Lord requires Shade Cloak)
So, while this may seem improbable, being a nail smith, he could have easily gotten another nail and cut the vine that was holding the block up, he could have used said nail (if he decided to do this in the first place) to get past the platforming section, or, he could have used the block and threw it onto the spikes, thus skipping having to use the Crystal Heart to get over to the other platforms
Or, since he is a nail smith, he could have made the nails for all the Nail Masters, and that meant he knew about what they were trying to accomplish in their life, from Sheo wanting to paint, Oro isolating himself from the rest of the world, and Mayo wanting to reach the top of Hallownest, and that he thought/believed that Sheo would help him find a new calling, which did happen in the end.
Or, maybe I’m just trying to explain something that is for a good ending (Nail Smith finding a new calling)
:D
Everyone in 2019: *SILK SONG'S FORGE PART*
Everyone in 2021: uhh did team cherry die?
That one unused charm with the shit ton of masks piled up on it is (i believe) used within one of the Fragile Charms? I could be wrong though.
It is. The charm is the fragile heart and the design also transfers over to unbreakable heart.
Winged Nosk seems sick until you realize his hit box is shaped like a skyscraper.
I wish they kept the dream diving ability. It looked so cool.
The forest of bones is back!
The Hive got a lot more developed, and there's a boss now :D
The forest of bones seems like its been moved to silksong, one of the demo areas is strikingly similar to it
I set the playback speed to 0.25 and read the entire 16:30 - 16:32 text box-- and I actually found your rant pretty interesting- I also think that the dark streaks around the dead character's eyes may relate to the void, possibly showing it as the cause of their death somehow(?)
The spider boss supposed to being in the game makes so much sense in the scene where you get stuck on the bench. The npcs all die when you get back there, you hear that roar, and also u wake back up stuck in web
