  • In this self-improvement video, I explain why I'm scared to work a 9 to 5 (or any job). If you would rather be your own boss (be self-employed) and never have to clock in or ask for vacation time again, just know that you're not alone.

    It’s not for everyone, definitely not me. It really doesn’t make logical sense to apply somewhere to WORK and do all that bs just to be under a crack head in charge who won’t ever go anywhere else. Most big positions you need to know someone there to even get looked at for the job. The headache isn’t for me and every job and coworkers I’ve ever worked with showed their true colors later on down the line. I’ve been over qualified for literally every position I’ve ever applied for. Working a 9-5 just makes no sense to me and most people do that are completely miserable or will become miserable later on.

      It's definitely not for everyone- just like entrepreneurship isn't for everyone. It's all about knowing where you stand, and it seems you've figured that out 💪🏾

      It depends on the passion. Some people might work a 9- 5 because they are passionate about what they are doing and some might start their own business because of passion as well. This does not necessarily mean that all 9-5 jobs sucks. If you are
      Not passionate about your job due to pressure from society , you will suffer. It’s very important to follow your passion and what’s in your heart because in some cases your passion will eventually require a 9-5 strategy. For example you can work
      A 9-5 as a doctor because you are passionate about medicine. ❤❤

      Yes. And we can say the same for high school, college, marriages, the military, etc. A lot of people leave those institutions in worse shape they were in before they ever went into those “contracts”.

      It’s because your family is still operating from that mindset of always everything is 9-5. It’s either your family is reinforcing the idea of 9- 5 under a societal influence. They are basically doing 9-5 not because of what’s in their heart, because of societal influence and cultural conditioning. They don’t consciously know that, they still believe in their minds that’s the only way to survive. Which is not true. They are trying to project that mindset onto you because if that mindset is challenged by other people , then you will be labelled “crazy”. Don’t fault them for calling you crazy, know that they are under an societal influence. Just follow your heart and intuition, not everybody is meant to work a 9-5.❤

    Hey people, we are not equal.
    - Some of you are better off getting a job;
    -Some of you are underpaid in your job and should try something new;
    - Some of you should quit the self employed route and get back to the job market, and;
    - Some of you should try a little bit harder in your self employed endeavour.
    In ended of the day, we must make decisions based on our reality and our ambitions.

      FACTS! I see it like this: we are equal, but we're also different. Some people are better off taking the path of security, whereas others are better off taking the path of freedom. What matters is that you know which path you're picking and why.

This non-conformist attitude is not lazy. Some people seek freedom, others impact, and others security. Knowing what you’re optimizing for will make you happier in the long run.

    But anyone on you tube is trading in their privacy. Unless you run a channel with no showing yourself. You are trading your privacy to not work a 9-5. 9-5, yes you are a “slave” but I have my privacy. That is sort of priceless to me. I have multiple sources of income so know I, to the point where I do not live pay check to pay check, I have no debt. My bills are low. Since I have investments and multiple streams of income. My 9-5 is one source. So because my fixed bills are so low, I can lose my job and be fine. That gives me more leverage. Also, I have a great schedule, I can pick when I work, take off anytime with notice, and my pay is decent. So that’s why I’m not giving up my job even though I could. Plus it gives me a sense of contributing to society and working towards a career I can build on. I get status and validation from my job even being an employee and not a business owner

It was not much, but i always thought i'll make much more in the future. It's been 4 years. I hasn't been able to grow my channel past "enough to exist" mark, due to war i had to move to Poland where livecost is like 3x and I also got a girlfriend. I am not making enough to enjoy living so recently i started an internship. I was always scared of "a job". But i realised, i'd rather have a job that i can enjoy than live a miserable life full of "freedom"
    Having a gf - is no longer freedom. Having children - is even less freedom! But those things make your life so fulfilled, that at some point you realise that it's not that bad.

    After 20 plus years of work being both employed and self employed in that time I prefer self employment. I have been self employed for the past 10 years now , not been employed at any job in that time. Points to consider: Unfortunately self employment is frowned upon, but not so badly if you're skilled self employed. But if you're unskilled self employed, it can be detrimental to you. If you're in the dating game tho , I think women prefer a man who is employed in a stable job over someone who is even skilled self employed and makes a good living. Just a few things to think about.
    Oh and just for clarity skilled self employed is those who have trades or professional qualifications that they're using to make a living. Unskilled self employed is basically those who do gig economy work
    One benefit I suppose, if you're skilled self employed, people in your local neighborhood or friends will often require your services as opposed to just someone who delivers food or parcels . That alone is status of some kind

      Find something that you are passionate about, whether it could be soccer, creative skills, art, ect.. try to find ways on how you can turn that passion into a passive income business. For example if, you are passionate about soccer, you can start by making soccer videos on UA-cam and from there you can monetise your UA-cam channel to start making money. It doesn’t have to be UA-cam, im just giving you an example, it could be anything. Don’t immediately quit your 9-5 grind, you would be doing this on the side while still maintaining your 9-5. As time goes by when you see that your passion is making you stable income, then you can make a decision to quit your job.❤

    At around 8:00 this insight births an interesting contrast. Management doesn't care about you as an employee, and will cut you off even when you're doing your best, since the business falling off is the owner's fault. But if you're a politician/UA-camr, everybody cares about you and your career is dependant on YOUR performance, and there is a significant portion of people who are loyal to you even when you're NOT doing your best. Would you agree?

    • @JordanGreenYT
      @JordanGreenYT  27 днів тому

      Absolutely! Though I don't have enough experience in corporate America to compare them directly, I've heard quite a few stories about how cut throat things can get- especially when the margins start running thin. I've even seen my own parents get laid off/passed up for promotions due to office politics and/or other reasons that had little to due with their performance.
      That said, whether you work a 9-5 or become self-employed, good performance will always be your best chance at both freedom and security. The difference is that there's a point of diminishing returns for performance when you work a job (unless it's commission-based).

    I hope everybody knows that when Jordan says "working for myself" he is considering the fact that he relies on a set of 160,000 people for his one and only income. This scenario is related to how it's always been in my heart to serve the masses through politics. I wouldn't necessarily classify this as "working for myself" since I'm a servant of citizens as a politician, and I rely solely on them to keep my job. But for Jordan's situation, it probably falls more in alignment with working for one's self. Funny enough, politics got too toxic for me, and I turned to spirituality. Yet, that opportunity to be in servant leadership and providing for those in need is still there through the platform of UA-cam where I can preach spirituality 😊

    • @JordanGreenYT
      @JordanGreenYT  27 днів тому

      Truthfully, "working for yourself" doesn't really exist. In my case, I've traded having 1 boss for 160,000 of them. But I've found that when you have many bosses, you have the luxury of firing the bosses you no longer want to work for, as you have plenty of other bosses to fall back on. Also, you get the opportunity to choose which bosses you serve. I'm glad you've found a path that suits you bro 💪🏾

    "There was never a man with a deeper and more passionate craving
    for independence than he. In his youth when he was poor and had difficulty in earning his bread,
    he preferred to go hungry and in torn clothes rather than endanger his narrow limit of
    independence. He never sold himself for money or an easy life or to women or to those in power;
    and had thrown away a hundred times what in the world's eyes was his advantage and happiness
    in order to safeguard his liberty. No prospect was more hateful and distasteful to him than that he
    should have to go to an office and conform to daily and yearly routine and obey others. He hated
    all kinds of offices, governmental or commercial, as he hated death, and his worst nightmare was
    confinement in barracks. He contrived, often at great sacrifice, to avoid all such predicaments."

    I personally don’t find life working a 9-5 that bad because I enjoy working. You need to change you perspective, because if you work hard you won’t be the one being told what to do. Try climbing the corporate ladder and eventually you will be the boss one day that is what motivates me.

    • @JordanGreenYT
      @JordanGreenYT  28 днів тому +3

      I feel you on that! My thing is that I prefer to have freedom and youth simultaneously. I've also noticed that those higher up corporate jobs require so much of your time/energy that you end up not having enough time to enjoy the money anyways. Of course, it depends on the job, but that's how I've always perceived it. Overall, I think you should do what makes you happy!
