+Anders Bang difficult question, re201 has a better preamp so sound is better, rounder. On sre555 spring reverb is longer, chorus is FAT, "sound on sound" is very good for FX sounds, symetrical inputs/ouptuts make the tape machine quieter... two beasts with pros and cons ;)
