Noise in the middle of the night (all night), drug use, volumes of people coming in and out, her kids destroying the property, damage to their car, ghetto-level language and behaviors, etc.) They tried talking to her, the landlord and the police to stop her angry and abusive tactics. After a year and a half, they moved out because it was the only solution. The cops couldn't ( wouldn't) do anything. The landlord attempted to get her evicted. A year after they moved, the tenant was still living in the building and still hadn't paid any rent going on 2 years. The red tape, inaction, fraud and downright stupidity was overwhelming.

When you withhold your rent for ANY reason, you need to put the entire amount in an account that you can touch at any time so the landlord has an impetus to fix whatever you're withholding the rent over. Rent has to be paid. On the day its supposed its supposed to be paid. The state of Michigan gives every renter 5 days grace. So either pay your rent or move. How hard is it?
