I hate when people blame their lawyer for their own actions! First girl, does she think her lawyer is a magician or something. Asks her lawyer “why did you have me plead guilty.” Does she really think if she pled not guilty or no contest she’d be on her way home? 😂

Unfortunately it is the lawyers job to defend the client by any means within legal and ethical means - this includes using terminology which lowers the perceived level of the alleged crime. And if he wanted to- used any personal information he knows that might turn the heart strings of the judge.
I’ve seen lawyers use military service, loss of family member, sickness, life changing event - hell in the recent school shooter case, the lawyer not only tried using his kids but also the judge’s kids (if she had any) as basis to an argument - where that judge shot him down.
Defense attorneys often have an up hill battle and I do not envy them. That is why they have the years of education in that regard - they do the job us people wouldn’t do cause we put our morals and values first often where they put theirs second - first comes the job.
That is why they are lawyers
So don’t blame them with outbursts like so, it’s unbecoming especially when you know nothing of the job they do and the difficulties that come with that job; a job you wouldn’t have taken and denied a fellow citizen a right to defense, no matter the crime - ironically is a crime in of itself.

What's really heartbreaking is seeing Judge Simpson's reaction. He clearly cares and it's difficult for him, that's what makes him such a fantastic judge. He has absolute empathy for everyone in his courtroom, but he still upholds the law. That's why we see him make a lot of really great decisions, where he can find room for compassion that still satisfies justice. He has a terribly difficult job, but he does it with grace and dignity.

How much wrong can you do before you accept the blame for your actions. She didn’t turn herself in, she had drugs on her and was in a stolen car. No matter what she was going to jail, so by the time she gets this settled she will miss a couple of her child’s birthdays. 2nd case is the defense attorney kidding? His client was not overcharged, he’s a dangerous man.

Judge Simpson is a gem. Our Country needs a lot more judges such as him. I have watched him be very helpful for people who need help and I have seen him not mess with voilent defendants and people who BS and fail to appear. He doesn't play games and he has heard all the excuses over the years. And the last guy, as if he wouldn't bail to his parents house in New Jersey in a heart beat while giving up $ 2k. Better that than the jail sentence that A$$ hole is going to get. I'm sure most of you, the men in particular, are sickened by men who beat up women. I had a mom, I have sisters, neices, cousins and a lot of female friends, I am even very good friends with my ex wife for almost 30 years, and I cannot fathom any man trying to hurt one of them or any woman. I was raised correctly by some wonderful locing parents (I know, I was very fortunate in the birth lottery). Love to all the ladies from no nonsense Texas🤠😎👍

How do these defense attorneys sleep at night? A domestic violence issue at the least? Yo cant threaten a victim in front of the police. She didnt want to see him! HE pushed his way in, although WHY did she open the door? Wouldnt you think you should be trying to talk some sense into him? Bull he didnt know his parents phone number? He was calling her to tell her to call his parents? I dont buy it for a second. They record the phone calls...I wonder what we would hear if the transcripts were ever brought to court

If these sympathy-hustlers gave a crap about the well-being of their children, they would not be bucking court or committing the acts that got them there in the first place. They especially wouldn't need to use them as a convenient excuse to weasel out of responsibility. Using offspring in a vain attempt to circumvent the court is just plain grimey.

As to whether prosecutors "overcharge" to induce plea bargains... that depends on your definition of overcharge. Prosecutors are not allowed ethically or legally to pursue charges that exceed the probable cause presented by the evidence. Then the Courts are able to review whether there is probable cause to substantiate a particular charge (via probable cause conferences or whatever the mechanism is called in a specific jurisdiction). Then, on top of that, prosecutors are disincentivized to pursue higher charges that are harder to prove because if they lose, even if they get a guilty verdict on lesser included offenses, they look bad.
Of course, all of that is completely different than a prosecutor charging a higher crime that they think the evidence supports, but morally doesn't feel correct. In that way, prosecutors overcharge all the time, depending on your point of view as to what is morally correct. #notlegaladvice

The lawyer for the guy who's alleged to have committed domestic violence seems to think that a kid's types of rationalizations make a good defense. "She opened the door …" So what? Does that mean he's not responsible for his actions? Does she have some kind of responsibility to know he's going to batter her before she opens the door? Does the law even allow an open door to lessen the charge of domestic violence? What point are you trying to make, counselor?
