I absolutely luv listening to this guy's philosophy on swim bait fishing. It's inspired me to begin TRULY making it a lure that I use on a regular basis in my arsenal of baits.
It's for real about the swimbait community! I've been trying to get a bunch of anglers in North Alabama to start throwing them more and eventually do a big swimbaitonly tourney. It's a very under utilized technique on the Tennessee River because it does have a huge population of Gizzard Shad and Skipjacks that glidebaits like the Arashi or S-waver imitates effectively. Places like the bluff walls and Ledges even in winter, creeping a swimbait within or just above the big bass suspending along them. My first big bass on a larger swimbait was a 4+ smallie on a Castiac 7" Jerky J Swim and I've been addicted since. It was watching guys like you that got me passionate about trying to break my PB 9lb 6oz largie and get into that double D club. I can't wait to buy some Dangerous Swimbaits to add to my arsenal!
@@focusforlife I love primarily off Pickwick Lake, but do fish Wilson and Wheeler. I occasionally fish Guntersville, fished Neely Henry, Smith Lake and tons of creeks in the area. What's your primary body of water?
@@256bassfishing I've fished mostly Wheeler lake. Second Creek, Richland Creek, Cotaco Creek. I haven't had much luck but, I'm just getting back into fishing after 20 or so years. So, I'm learning how to bass fish again. I tried Guntersville for the first time last week. Again, without any luck. I'm having a good time though.
@focusforlife @256bassfishing9 I’m in Athens area and hit wheeler, Pickwick and Guntersville most. That new Daingerous swimbait is legit. Also crushing them on bullshads 8” and glides. Big baits starting to catch on down here slowly but surely
I am 7 minutes into this and I've had goosebumps, tears, excitement shivers...you name it, I think it's happened. hah! I live for swimbait fishing. So much so that I created my own bait brand back in 2020 making hand made cedar swimbaits. Mostly wake and cranks but I'm a top water junky. Establishing MTL Baits in 2020 was something that changed my life drastically and I wouldn't have it any other way. If I could find out if you enjoy wakes / wake n cranks, I would love to send you a couple of them to try. But if that's not your jam (and it seems like softies and glides are) then I take no offense in knowing that and won't send any. I just wanted to give back in any way I could to a legend that I've looked up to for many years now. Thanks for putting this video series out Chris, and here's to more years of finding "that one bite"!
If you ever see this and are curious and genuinely want any, please feel free to reach out to me Chris. I'd love to make some special to you baits and send them your way. Even if you don't use them, you could display them. I'm extremely confident in the quality and craftsmanship of my baits, and if you enjoy wake n cranks then I know you will enjoy these as well!
"Every single time they bite it they mean it." This couldn't be more true with swimbaits, I can vividly remember saying "Oh sh*t" on my first swimbait fish. Love the vid, Chris!

I’m officially taking the leap into the swimbait world! Honestly it’s mainly because of you that I’ve decided to do it. Where I’m at is kind of a weird spot. We don’t have smallies and our large don’t get giant like Florida, Texas, Cali, etc. state record has been 10lbs for 43 years. But it’s time to chase those 5-8lb fish are lurking! It all starts Friday when my rod arrives. Thanks for inspiring

I’ve fished my whole life since I could hold a rod. I’ve caught so many 300lb + tuna trophies I was over it. I just started Lmb fishing almost 2 years ago and have been out practically every weekend since. Largest so far was a 7 but I’m still looking that trophy 10. Ive had a few wide open 100 fish days out here in SoCal and getting techniques down pretty well. But that big swimbait man. I’m all in now. I’ll be throwing that and only that I told myself until I get my 10. And I have no doubt watching your videos will get me there. My wife says if I could live out there I would. She’s right.
What is a swimbait? It's those big lures I'm so frickin' addicted to buying! 😄 Big wakes, big topwaters, big worms, big swim/glides...it's a serious addiction...a big 10" Rat, is the lure that started my big bait craze...so many cool big swimbaits on the market!!
Been throwing now for 5 years nothing but big custom baits gets very expensive and the grind is real but the payoff is worth every bit of it I fished once 10 hours a day for 3 months with 0 results when I first started almost gave up then I figured out a little bit Then the magic happens the mojo comes now 5 years in and $30000 worth of gear and custom baits I will never stop its a true addiction best I ever had I dont fish tourneys I fish alone 99% of time nothing better Great Video!!! Try a big Rat lure on your body of water...a 2 1/2lb. Bass on a 10" Rat lure got me started on the big bait craze & continued into swimbaits...Magdrafts are awesome baits
I was fishing a small creek in Illinois and saw a big smallie 18 inches. I threw a craw at it, didn't move. A crank bait, nothing. A spook, nope. I thought well that's it, it's just not bitting anything. Fished up creek some more, then on my way back I threw on a 5.5" boot tail swim bait. First cast it crushed it. Blew my mind that it was wanting a bigger meal. Now I have a swim bait tied on more then anything else and have found more success.

Throw a big Rat lure to get your 1st big bite...then confidence grows from there with swimbaits...amazing how a 1-2 lb. Bass will smoke a 10" rat! Throwing a big topwater like that will give anyone more confidence for that 1st big bite, over a big bait u can't see

Big fish? Swim baits of how many different styles?

Have you ever fished in Kentucky
Kentucky Lake!
I've had the bug for a while, even though I've never caught a 5+ on a swimbait. I keep throwing it. One of these days.
