I was a marshal at Kentucky Lake 2 years ago and I saw first hand how good this swimbait is. Chris caught 24 lbs that day and was fishing behind other anglers. The Megabass MagDraft is the real deal for BIG bass. John thanks for the video's. Keep them coming.
This is by far my favorite swim bait. Rolled in behind guys on KY lake fishing a tournament all in $100k ranger boats. And slayed them and laughed when they ask what I caught them on. Especially I took off out of Paris landing where they was and got looked down on cause I have an aluminum bass boat.
Hey John, sub here & wanted to thank you for having Zaldain on.He put me on to the Okashira screw lock and the 3 inch Spark Shad;which got me thru a tough winter bite here in west by God Virgina.Caught a few "Micropterus Salmoides" over 3lbs on the Spark Shad over the last few months.Got a nice spot a few hours ago on one, actually.Love the swimbaits,&have really stepped up my finesse swimbait game.
Good video guys , I wanted to add two other mods that I do to both the 6 and the 8in,, you can remove the belly hook with the swivel ad rig it on top to the eyelit this way you can slow roll it over cover easier and reel it on the bottom without getting hung up , also with the 8in you can cut out the magnetic harness with a razor blade and maker you cut a little deeper and then with a. 10/0 or 12/0 weighted beast hook you can make it weedless like the freestyle, the hook up tackle just did a recent video about this but I have been doing it for years
I'll add that I'm the "bank fisherman" so appreciate the references to 3/8 spinnerbait use along bank. Any guidance or tips on fishing from bank is definately appreciated. Great job
Awesome interview John! I begin using the white back 6 inch version in early spring, and it has been a great locator even if they don’t hook up. And I will say the speed of Retrieve is crucial. If you real these too fast they will turn on their side so you have to learn to slow and steady. God bless!
Thank you - very informative. John please confirm with Chris - is it a 7/0 swim blade with a 1/4 oz - he talks about 1/8 oz which doesn’t seem to be available.
Okay Enough is enough. You guys need to get back on tour. You’re making all these videos making me buy lots of stuff. My wife is making me sleep in the garage tonight. I could see if Tackle warehouse has a room. LOL
Tactical Bassin did an underwater vid of big swimbaits including the Magdraft and they really liked it. The title of the vid is Amazing Underwater Footage of 8 Big Swimbaits!
If you don’t already know, there is another way of rigging the Magdraft where it is weedless. Here is a video from Bigbassdreams showing how to convert these lures to become weedless. After I lost a few of my first Magdrafts on deep snags, I converted every Magdraft I had after that to be weedless. Haven’t looked back. Makes this lure able to be fished anywhere and perfects the lure in my opinion. Megabass found out about guys like Oliver Ngy who were having great success doing this and then released the Magdraft “freestyle” as an encore so anglers would have a Magdraft ready to rig weedless right out of the box. ua-cam.com/video/ST10ew0aPKM/v-deo.html
Big fan guys! I appreciate the tips and videos. Quick question: would it be ok to have 40lbs braided line in shimano curado and heavy fast action St.croix 7.6” for this swimbait? Or do I need to change braided line with fluorocarbon 17 or 20lbs? Thanks a lot
White Whale Fishing , I don’t know what caused the tail to get bent, but in the past the cure was to dip the tail in hot water to straighten it out. 30-60 seconds.
Boiling water for about a minute, keep the eyes out of the water but everything else should be fine. After the minute drop in cool water and it should be at original shape. Hope that helps
Looks to me this should be fished on a more forgiving rod with some bend in it. The treble hook will behave like one in a crankbaits or even a chatterbait.
The pros don't use them'? I've watched MLF, FLW, and Bassmaster and not one.... hummm? I guess it is good for local tournaments where you know the water system but fishing unknown water makes it more difficult.
Bass Dojo Oh they get used. Not every event, not every day. Maybe not in MLF because that’s a different deal. Zaldain caught over 20 pounds on it on day 1 in the 2019 Classic
@@stevegerber835 Sometimes but not very often. Slower retrieve is key with the 8". You'll be able to tell when its in the water what speed it likes. It will roll if you try to burn it, but then again its not designed to burn.

I use 50lb braided line for the free style and have no problems. I would go flouro if using ghe original though
@@spartan381 thanks man!!!🤛🏼
Need a vid from CZ on how to fix a bent tail on the 6” version
White Whale Fishing Great idea!

Chris: “ Yeah, I like to keep it super simple”
Proceeds to pull out a whole ass plastic tote filled with assortments of different mag drafts. 🤣
Wonder time time of year u would really let on throwing the 6”
Bassin’ Passion Anytime to throw a 3/8 spinnerbait
Looks to me this should be fished on a more forgiving rod with some bend in it. The treble hook will behave like one in a crankbaits or even a chatterbait.
Does it need wind and overcast skies on clear water?
Yes, usually.
Thx guys helpful
What about the spark shad? What's the difference?
Spark shad is a different size, shape and doesn’t have a harness built into it
Good stuff Boiz !!
Old news here in so cal
John Crews should be an announcer.
what daiwa reel will handle the 6" freestyle?
Is cruz talking to flair

John Crews I’ve seen Chris use it on bass live.
Need trait to trim that caterpillar back its dangerous
I only have the 8". Watching this makes me want a tub of 6". Lol
Great info. Do you speed it up and twitch it at all or just a straight retrieve?
@@stevegerber835 Sometimes but not very often. Slower retrieve is key with the 8". You'll be able to tell when its in the water what speed it likes. It will roll if you try to burn it, but then again its not designed to burn.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Do you think it will work night fishing
Yes
i literally caught one 1.5 pound bass and the magnet fell out of the bait... it's almost useless now, waste of money
His mustache is also zaldangerous 👀
You guys meet each other at the gym? lol
Seth Meyer we are roommates
@@JohnCrews Making a joke about you guys both being ripped. lol
Roomates who get ripped together, stay together. 👍
First 😀
Made in USA? Not China I hope...
John Bell I don’t have any control over where these are made. I do know Missile Baits are 100% made in USA since I do have control over that.
These are ok but not as good as castaic platinum swimbaits. Not even close
