There were so many parts of this video where I was like "DUDE STOP TOUCHING IT IT LOOKS FINE" "YOU'RE GONNA MESS IT UP" "JUST LEAVE IT!!" loll I know the feeling though.
I use the big toothed side to get slick my hair back in the very beginning and the small toothed side to make everything tighter and more defined. And for sure thanks for the tip!
Dude, I like the tutorial. Thank you...trying it myself as well. A small tip though: you should tell what you are doing, putting water on your hands, or pomade stuff like this... thank you for the video
When I first went there I got a natural fade on the sides. He said it was about a 2 on the ides with a fade...on the top he sometimes just takes off like a few snips. Maybe half an inch or an inch. I usually just let him do his thing since he used to have his hair like mine as well. But yeah about a 2-fade on the sides and a little off the top. The back of the top of my head is shorter than the front of the top of my head I know that, by a good 2 inches or so.
It just goes in my hair easier and I can brush it through easier. When it is dry it rips and pulls at my hair rather than combining and forming with my hair. 2. Comb everything to the side first. All the way over until it is nice and slicked down on the top, then work on pomping up the front of your hair. Maybe that will help?
Thanks for the feedback man. I appreciate it. One more thing though. I notice you use suavecito, and I just Wna know how it compared to other brands, e.g. Murray's, lucky 13, schmiere... Etc.
Top like my bangs is like 8 inches and it layers to the back of my head to like 4-5 inches. The sides are like a 1 faded to a 3 or something if I were to guess
All I've used is Suavecito because I like that it is water based and washes out like gel. I wont use anything that is petroleum based because I dont want it to stay in my hair for a long time. It'll start to recede your hairline!
You might not have as much "control" as some said earlier but it will definitely work still. Make sure you do it when you have damp hair and comb your hair back all the way first. Use a strong holding pomade too! Suavecito firme hold would work well
Hey man this stuff is really useful. You think you can show us how the back looks like by any chance? Im trying to get this hairstyle and right now the trouble im having is how to do the back
You will get better results with Murrays but the only thing I dont like about Murrays is that it isnt water based. I know in the UK its pretty gloomy all the time maybe? I dont know. But maybe the oil based pomades would better fit that environment. Murrays you'll need to use oil removers to get the product out of your hair. Peanut butter works haha and other things too. But to answer your question yes my hair stays this way all day.
ok man thanks. looks good. im doing a pomp to and i got it cut like 2 weeks ago so its hard to comb it in the morning so do i put my pomade in then comb it back?
My man; dig the videos and very informative. One question and one tip. I noticed you use both sides of the comb but how or why do you decide to use which side? Also to keep your part straighter take the front tip of your comb and run it straight down your head where you want the part, then if done right one stroke to comb it over.
@theqsanity he's using Suavecito. It's the best pomade to me. Some people use Layrite and Suavecito because they hold the best. Don't use Axe. It's cheap but it's not real. Suavecito is perfect especially if you have curly hair. I have curly hair and the first time I started the style, I used Murray's. don't use that, I learned the hard way and I'm only 14. It's on Amazon along with the other pomade. It's not cheap but it's well worth the money.
I know your feeling of frustration. I've been styling my hair in a pompadour for quite some time and there was this time when I didn't get what I wanted. You will reach that place when you are always satisfied with your hair. I reached that place after many versions of my hair: long/short top, long/short sides. I've tried many pomades. Styling wet/dry. Combes vs. brushes. Parted vs. not parted. Blowdryer. Know your hair! Just keep on practicing! I mean, each day, right? Your pomp will come.
hey i have thicker hair and its growing pretty long now. Does your barber thin out your hair , most of the time go for the surfer look and just comb it back but it falls too the side now instead of staying back. Also, whats the longest part of your hair.
1st : thx..I noticed that too 2nd: sorry..but didn't help..I may say that my hair is curly ( not very curly..but curly enough to not stay always as I see fit) I tried that..but it's still very curly..and it's irritating me..because all the hair looks shiny and set..on the side of the pomp..it's just curly..thx anyway..and one last question : do you advise use of wax ? if yes..alot? I mean 3 or 4 times in one day? ( 3 or 4 times I mean..in hands..) thx in advance :D
The original hold is less thick than the firme hold. If you have easy hair to work with you can use the regular hold but thick hair I'd go with the firme
I think people find it easier to use a pomade because it is easy to work with and stays all day. You dont need hair spray or anything else..but I saw your video!
What kind of product do you use? and how long would it last if you were to use it everyday? I use Axe because its cheap and is everywhere but find that I go through them pretty quick.
Do you let the front of your hair grow more then the back ? I'm not sure if you understand me but, what I'm doing right now is letting my front grow longer and I trim the back of it.
Hmmmm is your hair long on the sides or is it like mine? Cut it more on the sides? Curly hair I dont really know how to deal with because mine is so straight. Look up Asher Kremper on youtube and watch his videos he has curly hair.
Its like a 3 and 4 I think on the sides. the back is the same. Its like that all the way around. But the actual hair in the pomp and side part is like 4 inches or something. I'm not quite sure. :P
hey..thx for the video..but one question..when you get your hair wet and use wax( grease) on the hair..does it look cooler?..or is the same thing as using it on dry hair..and 2nd question: What can I do..I have some problems styling my left part of the hair ( i do the pomp the same as you..on the right side..but ..behind the pomp..between the side and top...it always gets messy..any advices? thx in advance :D
it's my third times tryin' pompadour style(50's rockabilly). but really.. it's too hard to understand. I think I'm just doing all same motions and copying lot of stylers from youtube but, maybe part of techniques and skills are lot more less than you guys.. I definitely need to get improvement for these kinda hair styles to style my self.. um.. my hair's thin and bit curly.. so could you tell me how to roll up front part so nice like you?? btw, thanks for your nice video! :)
my hair is the same way...pain in the ass. I use either Layrite or Suavecito and when the hair just doesnt wanna play when i wanna pomp it get extreme and bust out the blow dryer and aqua velvet
I think you might prefer a military brush to a comb. When you use a comb, you can practically count the teeth of the comb in the separations in your hair. The high roller GQ guys use a Kent or Acca Kappa, but you can probably find one for much cheaper. Ever try Brylcreem?
how do you just grow the top half of your hair like that? i get three on sides and scissor cut on top because i am trying to get hair like you. but mine doesnt grow that way? why is that? any tips? I want same hair as you. 6in long on top part nd short on sides.
Hi , very good looking, but it would drive me crazy to do it. It also looked really good just first after you began , while it was a bit undone . Thanks
Uhhh pomade will eventually loose its hold, and sports would probably just speed it up. When I play sports I just wear something on my head with no type of product in it! But to answer your question, I wouldnt expect any type of product to hold through a lot of sports play o.o
say if i do sports which i do alot and usauly my hair gets messed up and goes down will pomade hold it without hairspray and ps am i irratating u with all these messages
Comb it straight up and use your other hand as a guide. Lay it down on the top of your head and push your hair forward. When you push it forward comb it up again in the front. It'll pull it out. Thats how I do it it at least.
+Nick Groefsema oh ma Jesus, no, I know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about a PICTURE of a HAIRSTYLE that I want BUT DONT KNOW WHAT ITS CALLED, NOT THIS ONE
There were so many parts of this video where I was like "DUDE STOP TOUCHING IT IT LOOKS FINE" "YOU'RE GONNA MESS IT UP" "JUST LEAVE IT!!" loll I know the feeling though.
....this guy doesnt even need hair product!!!!! Its already perfect!!!!
This dude has the nicest hair I've ever seen
I use the big toothed side to get slick my hair back in the very beginning and the small toothed side to make everything tighter and more defined. And for sure thanks for the tip!
My stylist is my pillow.
Thanks Dave Franco
Dude, I like the tutorial. Thank you...trying it myself as well.
A small tip though: you should tell what you are doing, putting water on your hands, or pomade stuff like this...
thank you for the video
I love how awkward he used to be, it's amazing.
what a waste of tap water!
I'm in a 1950's based musical, called Zombie Prom, and this really helped! Thanks so much!!
The back of the top of my head is shorter than the front of the top of my head I know that, by a good 2 inches or so.
the hairstyle suits you alot ! love this style
I can't believe you only get compliments on the internet, this style looks so good on you ;)
Great hair, will you grow your bangs even longer? Thanks for sharing how to take care of hair this length/style.
I'm so glad my mom didn't walk in when he was rubbing the pomade on his hands it would be so hard to explain that
Darwin Varona yeah
what a waste of water!!
That's what I was gonna say!
He's not wasting water
Thanks for the feedback man. I appreciate it. One more thing though. I notice you use suavecito, and I just Wna know how it compared to other brands, e.g. Murray's, lucky 13, schmiere... Etc.
Top like my bangs is like 8 inches and it layers to the back of my head to like 4-5 inches. The sides are like a 1 faded to a 3 or something if I were to guess
For spirit week at my school we have to dress in 50's fashion. This video was perfect thanks so much.
All I've used is Suavecito because I like that it is water based and washes out like gel. I wont use anything that is petroleum based because I dont want it to stay in my hair for a long time. It'll start to recede your hairline!
What a throw back man! Watching the last video on your other channel to this one! Dam time goes by faaast!
Yeah make sure you get your hair damp though with water. It makes it go in easier and makes it easier to comb as well.
You're absolutely adorable. This was fun to watch.
this hairstyle looks ridiculously good on you.
I wash it out every time I use it. Nothing wrong with it haha. I use a water based pomade so it comes out like gel does.
You might not have as much "control" as some said earlier but it will definitely work still. Make sure you do it when you have damp hair and comb your hair back all the way first. Use a strong holding pomade too! Suavecito firme hold would work well
it looks so perfect and good on you
Whatever one you prefer :)
Your hair is so thick and beautiful!... Blessed.
Hey man this stuff is really useful. You think you can show us how the back looks like by any chance? Im trying to get this hairstyle and right now the trouble im having is how to do the back
Youve convinced me to spend more time in the looking glass. Gonna try this out
2-3 times a week?
You will get better results with Murrays but the only thing I dont like about Murrays is that it isnt water based. I know in the UK its pretty gloomy all the time maybe? I dont know. ok man thanks. looks good. im doing a pomp to and i got it cut like 2 weeks ago so its hard to comb it in the morning so do i put my pomade in then comb it back?
Yeah it doesnt get messed up by the wind, its a good product
My man; dig the videos and very informative. One question and one tip. I noticed you use both sides of the comb but how or why do you decide to use which side? Dynamite! Just how long is your hair on top? How far down would it reach if combed forward? Amazing the way you turn it into a Pomp.

Yeah well when I first grew it out it was all the same but when it was cut the front is 3-5 inches longer than the back of the top of my head

''I'm basically done''...redoes hair all over again lol Sweet hairdo man, cheers to you. Looks awesome
For my hair I use the medium!
really nice hair !! Obrigado pelas dicas !
But I like the length of my hair! Its weird while it is shorter.
wow i love ur hair!!! can u tell me the length of ur hair in this video? like the bangs, sides, top etc. pls!!!!!!!!!!
Your hair is amazing !!!
Yeah it lightly runs against it but nothing to where it hurts or ripping out hair.
how do you take care of your hair, i mean it looks fantastic :D do you recommend
any thing ?
What do you ask for when you get your haircut? I want mine to look like yours and how long did it take for you to grow your hair that long?
Why would you go to the barber for a greaser's 50s hairstyle? You grow it out. I hope you found out 5 years later
The original hold is less thick than the firme hold. If you have easy hair to work with you can use the regular hold but thick hair I'd go with the firme
nice hair there mate, i just want to ask is there any difference (in the end result) between applying water to your hair and keeping it dry? cheers
I think people find it easier to use a pomade because it is easy to work with and stays all day. You dont need hair spray or anything else..but I saw your video!
Theres also an option for 1080p but it gets too close up for what I was doing :P
Thank you and I'm glad!
What kind of product do you use? and how long would it last if you were to use it everyday? I use Axe because its cheap and is everywhere but find that I go through them pretty quick.
Suave 2 in 1 conditioner and shampoo!
Do you let the front of your hair grow more then the back ? I'm not sure if you understand me but, what I'm doing right now is letting my front grow longer and I trim the back of it.
What products do you have to use to get the hair to look the way it does at the beginning of the video before you wash it.
Simply beautiful. A work of art.
How long is your hair? Are you using enough product? Sometimes people have natural calic in their hair and it just wont do it.

What kind of hair cut do you ask for when you go to the barber shop ? I wanna get this hair style so bad and where can you buy pomade?
nice vid. what product do you use for your hair to stay like that?
Up in Northern California
its all about your type of hair, thick or thin, and volume.
Personally I do need hairspray since I have a lot of thick hair.
James Franco?
James Franco!
when you go to a barber shop what do you usually ask for the sides? like a taper and dont touch the top?
Very nice...I also liked it slicked straight back without the part.
it's my third times tryin' pompadour style(50's rockabilly). but really.. it's too hard to understand. I think I'm just doing all same motions and copying lot of stylers from youtube but, maybe part of techniques and skills are lot more less than you guys..

um.. my hair's thin and bit curly.. so could you tell me how to roll up front part so nice like you??
btw, thanks for your nice video! :)
Oh man I have nooooo idea!!
The size of the can? Itsssss like 4 ounces or something?
You just look like the singer of Royal Republic! Awesome video and hair, by the way!
my hair is the same way...pain in the ass. I use either Layrite or Suavecito and when the hair just doesnt wanna play when i wanna pomp it get extreme and bust out the blow dryer and aqua velvet
You can rock anything if you like it yourself.
Would you say that it is normal for hair to be hard to slick back when it is only 3-4 inches on top? (thick hair)
I think you might prefer a military brush to a comb. When you use a comb, you can practically count the teeth of the comb in the separations in your hair. The high roller GQ guys use a Kent or Acca Kappa, but you can probably find one for much cheaper. Ever try Brylcreem?

is a barber or a salon better for men's hair?
definitely a barber. they are great at what they do and if they know anything, its mens hair styles. goodluck
I dont know exact measurements but I can eat it if I put it down in the front.
Nice pomp! Do you use water or oil based pomade? Cheers from Sweden!
whats the technique for pulling it up in the front and then rolling it over in the back?
Hi , very good looking, but it would drive me crazy to do it. It also looked really good just first after you began , while it was a bit undone . Thanks
Uhhh pomade will eventually loose its hold, and sports would probably just speed it up. When I play sports I just wear something on my head with no type of product in it! But to answer your question, I wouldnt expect any type of product to hold through a lot of sports play o.o
I have wavy/semi curly hair and this is the hairstyle I do except I don't part it
if your hair splits right in the front should i grow longer hair or cut it shorter
Also what kind of cut do you ask for? Do i go to a barber or stylist?
say if i do sports which i do alot and usauly my hair gets messed up and goes down will pomade hold it without hairspray and ps am i irratating u with all these messages
I really want to do this hair style but I have fairly wavy hair. Would it still work as well as yours?
Comb it straight up and use your other hand as a guide. Lay it down on the top of your head and push your hair forward. When you push it forward comb it up again in the front. It'll pull it out. Thats how I do it it at least.
I do my hair like him I even use suavecito its a good pomade
I use Kevin Murphy super goo but I have know idea how good it is
I used to do it, but I didnt like the look of it really haha
um, when you go out and its slightly windy. Does it still stay looking the same?
can i do this hairstyle with clay wax or should i just buy pomade ?
Dude I really wanna see you do a hairstyle, I only have a picture of it but I don't know what it's called or how to do it, can you help me out?
