Best pompadour so far tbh and I’ve seen more recent videos. This video taught me how to make a good pomp 4 years ago and I’ve been complemented so many times, all women. I recently started doing the pomp again because my girl friends keep telling me they miss it. This vid also introduced me to Layrite, which was a life saver! I have wavy Asian hair and it works for me! My hair isn’t really thick, though, but it’s amazing stuff. Be sure to get the deluxe. I tried the others and they suck. Thanks man!
His hair is insane, its nuts! He has O.C.D.... HE HAS O.C.D YOU GUYS!!! And...... his hair, his hair is THICK, ITS THICK! And, it's INSANE! Crazy Insane Hair Because he's Spanish and Greek descent Its Insane and THICK
+Mr. Clean LMAO!!! I was thinking the same thing. The ONLY reason I watched this video all the way through was to see how many times he would say his hair is "crazy", "nuts" or "insane". I mean, he got the message across I suppose. I now question the psychological well-being of his hair, even though, prior to this, I never thought of hair in such a fashion.
Omg this video is prefect, my husband is wanting to train his hair and basically the two words you said in this video (ocd, thick hair) instantly made me go "yep the hubby has to watch this" thank you so much for posting!
I'm German and I have so much hair, it takes about four days for it to grow back whenever I get a haircut. I like the pompadour style and I have been doing it for the past two months.
I have very thick and wavy hair as well, and I use suavecito for the strong hold. its very hard to get completely through your hair but it works wonders when you do. I also use the standard old school brylcreem for the more flexible shaggy greaser look. it has medium hold and lots of shine and allows parts of the hair to sort of fall to give style and texture. ( I have an undercut right to the part on both sides and my hair is about 4 inches long.)
Dude you rock! I too "suffer" from the thick Mediterranean hair, and when I first got my hair cut the barber gave me a pomp, and I guess he assumed I knew how to do it, but since I didn't I did the most reasonable thing and looked up how to do it on UA-cam. Yeah I got the technique down, but like you said thick hair fights back, and you pointed out some tips for those of us with thick hair. Thank you very much!!!
hahahah I can completely relate to everything you said in this video. Especially struggling with the back of my hair towards the crown. Loved the video though dude! Subscribed
Thanks a lot man.... I gave up on Pomp cuz my hair is as thick but slightly curlier.... after I tried your way of doing it... it's a world of a difference
My hair is so thick and curly, I can't tell the difference between the head on my hair and the hair on my nut sack when they fall off ... Fukn depressing, especially when my hair falls off and clings to my clothes, people look at me like lolwtf?
Hey thanks a lot!!! I recently went from having REALLY long hair to shorter hair and had no idea how to get a good looking pomp. Thanks for the tutorial, lookin' good!!!
Bro you have so much hair. You're so lucky. I have a normal amount of hair because I get a hair cut every 3 weeks. I need to let it grow so I can do this style.
Your hair would easily look better if: 1) First wash & condition your hair 2) Keeping it damp, then proceed to use your product of choice (in your case layrite) and applying it to your hair. 3) With a hairdryer, blowdry your hair in the direction you want it to go and with a round brush, brush sections backwards or whichever direction you want it to sit in. 4) you'll notice a heck of a difference as using heat on your hair completely changes the dynamics of your hair even thick hair can be tamed this way.
This is going to be my first time having a pompadour, I have the top longer than the sides, per advice of another youtuber. I will be constantly watching this totourial to get it right. Thanks, man!
Came here to watch how to do this sort of thing for a client of mine with problematic hair... Didn't expect to fall in love with your technique as well.
Might sound silly but blow dry your hair back and then put a beanie hat on, itll flatten the hair and then take off, wet again slightly and blowdry to add a bit more volume back to it and then pomade it back, I think a sea salt spray back look is way better though
i have the same problem with my hair and my solution was leave a little bit longer my hair for while because i was just so tired that i couldnt get my hair done as i wanted and was a very effective solution
I have thick and straight hair and the only products that work for me are gels. It's hard to get your hair to do anything other than clean cut looks :/ especially with dark hair since it's harder to see the texture if you're going for a texturized look
Dude, i have the same hair and i did this every morning for many years until i got sick of it...I just had to change my hair style and right now i can take a shower and walk out of the house with no hair product and life is soooo much easier =)
I know this is like a year old, but man does you're hair look awesome! Coming from a hairdresser's perspective, you did an amazing job that most people in the industry can't do half as well as you just did! On a side note, if your back hairs were slightly longer they wouldn't give you as much grief. :) Thought I would just let you know how rad your video is!
Ok, I already know there's a couple things with what you're doing wrong. Couple questions.... What product do you use? Do you apply to damp or dry hair? You obvviously have thick hair that's why you're here, and how do you style your hair? what is it that you're going for, an undercut pomp, a full on pomp, what's the dealio on it. how long is the front of your hair? All of these things are determining factors.
I understand!!! My hair is so crazy the hair stylist get so frustrated while cutting it !! I have Straight hair and I have a lot and it also grows so fast !!
If you add a dab of suavecito original hold to layrite super hold when melting it in your hands, it will slick in a bit easier and helps hold it up a bit more. I've tried this and had good results. just putting this tip out for those who have trouble with layrite super hold :)
dude thanks for this. My hair is super thick and I have a hard time keeping it managed. I can't tell you how many wahls I've broken over my hair over the years.
I have wicked thick hair too it may sound stupid but use use (axe extreme hold spiked up look) and then after about 2hours comb the gel out of your hair. I get complimented all the time for my hair looking natural . U can hardly tell u used any gel it's awesome
Dude.....I have the same problem. I like Layrite, Sauvacito and another good one you should try is Shiner Gold. Comes in a purple tin can.....good stuff.
It will make it less wavey and more manageable like a relaxer but without all the extra chemical. I have thick curly hair and it when i want to go along time with straightening it its what i use.
My hair is exactly like this....its been so hard to grow my hair out i look like a maniac but it will all pay off at the end when i can finally do my pomade. Thanks for the video appreciate it!
Great info ! I have think and very wavy/curly hair also. I gave up trying to style it as a pomp because I could never get it to stay and look neat, it would just unravel through out the day. I'll be picking up some layrite and watching your vid next time I try to style it ! Thanks !
Also wetting your hair and using a blow dryer with a flat attachment works it into the shape you want so its not sticking up when trying to use product
I have REALLY thick, coarse dry hair too. Sometimes it's not even something you can help because it can be completely genetic. When you have unmanageable hair it really sucks in terms of trying to style it.
My hair might be as thick but it's way curlier but water based pomades definitely do the trick. I recommend if your ganna do a side part every day to ask your barber to buzz the side part in makes it so much easier
I'm Greek too ( half Greek ) and my hair is so thick. Waiting for my hair to get long enough so I can try this again. Never used pomade but since discovering it I know that's what I need finally for this hairstyle. I feel your struggles bro!
Very good. I know the feeling... My hair has a mind of its own. I have to use so much product and a blowdryer to make it stay put. Thanks for this video. It was awesome.
I'm Spanish-Italian and run basically into the same problem...I get it to be styled fine, but within a few hours my curly, thick hair apparently tries to work as a radio antennae and separates and sticks up...
Finally someone with similar hair like mine. Thou mine's a little less thick and more waves/curls. Which sucks when doing this hairstyle especially if you don't want to use too much product.
This was SO HELPFUL. Take your hair and times it by two and you have the strength and thickness of my hair. That's besides the point though, the point is, this is the first video I've found where some douche guy doesn't do his hair in two minutes like its nothing. You show A.) what you use B.) how you do it C.) how much effort it can take for men with thick hair. Thank you.

Is your hair thick?
Does the wave go nuts?
I have no idea, you didn't say it enough times

Because he's Spanish and Greek descent Its Insane and THICK
Mr. Clean I have thicker hair than him can u imagine that.
+Hassan Raza Noo ways dude your hair must be INSANELY thick dude unbelievable
+Mr. Clean LMAO!!! I was thinking the same thing. The ONLY reason I watched this video all the way through was to see how many times he would say his hair is "crazy", "nuts" or "insane". Aw Jeez, Rick.
😂😂😂😂😂
I wonder if his hair is thick...
i think he said thin idk, help :/
lol he said the word "thick" like 28 times
it's extremely wild out of control nuts thick
Takeaways from this video:
1. His hair is thick
2. His hair is crazy
3. I heard that 7 times within the first 2:35
Drink every time he says "thick" and you'll be considered a raging alcoholic.
I love this comment.
The comment loves you too.
They got ya too.
Ive never seen a guy take that long to do his hair! But man, did it come out nice. Perfectionist!
he has OCD as he said earlier in the video, which often make people quite obsessive about how stuff looks and how it should be done.
i wonder if that wave just goes nuts...
Omg this video is prefect, my husband is wanting to train his hair and basically the two words you said in this video (ocd, thick hair) instantly made me go "yep the hubby has to watch this" thank you so much for posting!
Is your hair wavy and thick by any chance?
No.
I'm German and I have so much hair, it takes about four days for it to grow back whenever I get a haircut. I like the pompadour style and I have been doing it for the past two months.
Question: is your hair thick, and does your wave go nuts??
Seriously I had to watch this twice..awesome presentation..you must do skin and fashion..OMG..this is so awesome..thank you..
Can someone tell me what kind of hair he got?
Thin :)
Very THICK and crazy WAVY hair maaaaaaannn!
+Laurence C not very thick, you can actually see his head from the top
+Veron Bilali by thick he means hair diameter
Yeah but thick has too meanings though
Mine is the exact same!

One plus to having thick hair is you won't go bald as soon!
It looked fine in the beginning of the video
Ikr lol
Jan Doedel no

Is there any difference between black beeswax and normal beeswax. (Murray's)
Thanks in advance.
I have the black beeswax i think its a bit stronger and bring out the color.

I've been looking for a way too keep my hair in place but everything didn't work until I saw this so thank you

+Diego Jimenez omdssss
Diego doesn't understand sarcasm
Wish more guys had this hair style. Its brilliant. Love it, great job!
He keeps talking about the waves in his hair???? His hair is literally straight
Came here to watch how to do this sort of thing for a client of mine with problematic hair...
Didn't expect to fall in love with your technique as well.
dude i have a similar hair type but my shit never stays all the way back because of my stubborn crown... any suggestions?
Same here, I've got a double crown, and the left side of my crown just doesn't stay put.
Might sound silly but blow dry your hair back and then put a beanie hat on, itll flatten the hair and then take off, wet again slightly and blowdry to add a bit more volume back to it and then pomade it back, I think a sea salt spray back look is way better though

grow it out and it will fall down.

This has been IMMENSELY helpful, thanks so much for putting this video up!
Theres a million other people with thick hair bro. Like for instance im here cuz im hair is thick. Ive been told i have the thickest hair lol
I always dreamed of having this type of hair like people with thick and straight hair are gifted like no joke

Him and his hair share the same personality.
I know this is like a year old, but man does you're hair look awesome! On a side note, if your back hairs were slightly longer they wouldn't give you as much grief. :) Thought I would just let you know how rad your video is!
anything i try fails. and even if i make it, when i go out and the time passes, i end up looking like you in 2:09
Do you use a comb?
yeap
try applying more to the back of your hair
Ok, I already know there's a couple things with what you're doing wrong. Couple questions.... What product do you use? Do you apply to damp or dry hair? Noah Valdez i use "go matt clay" by wella and i apply on dry hair. but my hair are pretty long on top, and shaved on the sides
Not quite sure if it is specific for my hair type, but really good tutorial. looks like I need to get a couple of other pomades.
This guy's hair is "thick and crazy"? Does he live in a 99.9% Asian community? This must mean that mine is just solid matter.
I understand!!!

Take a shot of your favorite liquor every time, you'll get drunk in 10 minutes and 17 seconds for sure.
If you add a dab of suavecito original hold to layrite super hold when melting it in your hands, it will slick in a bit easier and helps hold it up a bit more. I've tried this and had good results. just putting this tip out for those who have trouble with layrite super hold :)
Wow. I had no idea guys spend so much time on their hair.
Yep. Just for you girls.
Haha. It's much appreciated :P
haha yea and in my case as much time with the beard aswell, double trouble.
Grazk Wow. You have an awesome beard though. It must take a lot of time to tame.
***** thank you; yea it takes a while getting it under control so I dont look like a homeless person... the hair helps though :)
dude thanks for this. My hair is super thick and I have a hard time keeping it managed. I can't tell you how many wahls I've broken over my hair over the years.
MINE IS JUST LIKE THAT LMAO HISPANIC PROBLEMS 😂
I have wicked thick hair too it may sound stupid but use use (axe extreme hold spiked up look) and then after about 2hours comb the gel out of your hair. I get complimented all the time for my hair looking natural . U can hardly tell u used any gel it's awesome
Extremely thick and course psh I wish I had you hair. My hair is so course I only have a Mohawk and it takes 1.5 hours to blow out
Love thicker hair it's always preferred over thin hair. The natural body it has to it adds to it's luster good video man.
I think his hair is thick
Dude.....I have the same problem. I like Layrite, Sauvacito and another good one you should try is Shiner Gold. Comes in a purple tin can.....good stuff.
i like your hair. and your deep voice damn.
It will make it less wavey and more manageable like a relaxer but without all the extra chemical. I have thick curly hair and it when i want to go along time with straightening it its what i use.
I think his hair may be thick
My hair is exactly like this....its been so hard to grow my hair out i look like a maniac but it will all pay off at the end when i can finally do my pomade. Thanks for the video appreciate it!
man I'm high right now
for an OCD guy, I'm surprised that you don't change your comb since it has broken bits.
You have spent 2 minuters styling it, and 8 minuters complaining about your think hair
Bro omg thank you for this video so much... the way you describe your hair is exactly like mine. This helped so much. Keep up the good work man.
you look like "Sami khedira"
I got hair just like you, and it's hard to maintain it's awesomeness! haha thanks for sharing. Looking good!
his hair actually looked better before he styled lol
You ever tried elegance it's a water soluble as well and it's pomade and gel mixed together and hold is medium and smells awesome
This guys ego is to the ceiling
How exactly would you know that? All he did was explain how he styles his hair.lol
Cody Wilson just listen to what he is saying
Lol
Do you not know what ego means?
Thank you so much man. I have basically the same hair as you, so this worked out perfectly. Looking forward to trying this technique tomorrow.
Great info ! I have think and very wavy/curly hair also. I gave up trying to style it as a pomp because I could never get it to stay and look neat, it would just unravel through out the day. I'll be picking up some layrite and watching your vid next time I try to style it ! Thanks !
Awesome video. I do this same style and I have the same hair as yours, thick and stubborn haha. Thanks for the tips!
Also wetting your hair and using a blow dryer with a flat attachment works it into the shape you want so its not sticking up when trying to use product
A bro, this is a friken life changer. i have the same hair and same problems. i too use layrite, that stuff works great. thanks for the tips man.
awesome tutorial really helps out ppl like us with thick and crazy wavey hair
I have REALLY thick, coarse dry hair too. Sometimes it's not even something you can help because it can be completely genetic. When you have unmanageable hair it really sucks in terms of trying to style it.

Finally! Thick haired tutorials! Thanks man really appreciate this
Very good. I know the feeling... My hair has a mind of its own. I have to use so much product and a blowdryer to make it stay put. Thanks for this video. It was awesome.
My Hair is exactly like yours!!! Thank you for this tutorial. I'm going to try it out.
awsome!!! love it!! helped me alot!! but i must ask..how did u learn how to do this style.??
The duck tail looks great, but a taper & a little shorter on the sides would look really sharp!! Great pomp either way, brother!
Do a vid showing how you do the ducktail!
THANK YOU for speaking for the thick-haired man! Great tutorial!
I'm Spanish-Italian and run basically into the same problem...I get it to be styled fine, but within a few hours my curly, thick hair apparently tries to work as a radio antennae and separates and sticks up...
What a nice clean finish nice video bro!!

My hair texture if somewhat like yours, I'm actually going to have a pomp hairstyle this summer for the first time, wish me luck haha
My hair is thicker than this, and I used to use Uppercut Monster Hold.
A friend of mine started apprenticing as a barber, and got me into Baxter's Clay Pomade.
With anything else I used to have to blow dry, then straighten, and then style my hair otherwise it wouldn't work, but with Baxter's I can just slick and go. Only downside is the matte finish.
