Regarding the purple onion that is called a "red" onion (at least here in the USA - I don't know what the rest of the world calls that item): The red onion was used as food long before the word "purple" existed. Same with "orange," so the color of carrots, both orange and purple ones, were simply called "red." Any color close to "red," such as orange or purple, was simply known as red. "Orange" was first used to name the fruit, with the color being named after the fruit (and not vice versa, as is typically assumed). The word "orange" as describing a color first occurred around 1510, and the word "purple" as a word first occurred in the early 1300s. Before then, those colors were simply red. (Eventually, things that were orange in color were described as "red-yellow" or "yellow-red", depending which color was more contributory.) So that is why, to this day, we call them "red cabbage" and "red onion."
so interesting! In Croatia, "red" onion is the orange-brownish one, and the purple one is "purple"... but "white onion" means garlic in some dialects hahah! And what is called "red" wine in english is "black" wine for us, so it can cause a bit of confusion when translating :P I always found it funny and cute, though!
Thank you for the tip on removing the bitterness from bitter melon! Bitter melon is supposed to be beneficial for diabetics and I tried it once, but found it far too bitter to eat. Now that I have a way of removing that bitterness, I'll try it again- perhaps I'll have a food that I can happily eat and which will help the diabetes!
I love that this unassuming little food channel that doesn't hype products or services, doesn't have any drama, doesn't over produce or have special effects..has over 1 million subs. Just her, her family and words on the screen to tell us what she is doing and what food is(like i didn't know you could eat fiddle head fern) and she shows us how do make great meals in a different way. I really do just love this once a week look into her husband's lunches...and sometimes dinners. You and your family are so loving and lovely...thank you.
Ahh that bit with the bubbles was adorable. It made me smile and when I showed my dad he laughed and said “nothing better in the world then a happy healthy child.”
13:48 my heart felt so full when your husband reassured your daughter the portions were fine. It's llike he knows he is going to appreciate all the hard work you go through. 🥲❤❤❤ Such a sweet family!
I am just in awe of these wholesome, effort-intensive meals you prepare everyday. What's most stunning to me is the amount of greens and veggies you manage to pack into them. You eat better than I do everyday and I am certain that you manage to do it at half the cost. My inspiration from you is to try and eat healthier and put some thought & effort into my meals.
Your family is a delight to watch. After having a bad day this puts a smile on my face every time. Thank you for sharing your recipes and your life with us.
Imamu-san it's so good to see you again ❤ I worked as a dental assistant so I can give you some life hacks 😉 Try to visit your dentist before lunchtime. It's the best time for children. You should visit dentist more often if your girl afraids of check ups. Once in 3-4 months. She'll get used to it. When you or your husband goes to dentist take your daughter with you. She'll see that there is nothing to afraid of and it will be easier to communicate with her later. Good luck ❤
Hearing you talk at the table with your family is my favorite part ! Of course the cooking portion is satisfying but I giggle a little at your daughters responses to things :)
I just popped in to say your videos are both comforting and inspiring. I am on the Low FODMAP diet and have found your recipes very adaptable. I even asked my partner to order me a tamagoyaki pan so I can make myself bento for home and at work. My omelets aren't as pretty as yours yet but I'm going to keep trying!
Every day is perfect when Imamu posts a cooking video with her beautiful family ❤️ Imamu-san, are you going to make another Q&A video soon? :) Love from Florida! 💮❤️
Still here asking for an Imamu cookbook 😍 I'm always amazed by the variety and the amount of nutritional value in all of these meals, and they look delicious!
Imamu-San Please never ever stop posting! I’m Japanese myself but my mom’s never been the best at cooking so learning how to cook from you and bring that to my family has been something really amazing. I take so much inspiration from you, and it makes me excited to cook! Thank you so much, you truly are my favorite channel
I need to learn more cold meals for summer. Eating normal salad everyday gets a little boring. But hot meals are just too much in summer. Another great video, Imamu!
Your channel gives me such inspiration for my own cooking! I love the way you use what you have to make something delicious every day. Also, let your daughter know that sometimes even adults like me are afraid of the dentist, so there's nothing wrong with being scared!
I always look forward to your videos! I love to watch you cook and love to watch how your daughter is growing up! Thank you for sharing your days with us!
What you do is beautiful and inspiring. Seeing all the wonderful food you make made me cry. My family struggles with meals since both my parents work and we're often too tired to cook. We usually eat fast food. I was often discouraged to cook because no one taught me to cook so it would be a mess. You don't just have gifts at cooking, you are a gift to your family. God bless ya'll.
I loved this! The sesame sauce reminds me of the sauce from McDonalds they put on salad when I went to Japan, amazing! I LOVED your smile potatoes, even if a few look like they were screaming!
you have such a lovely family!!! thank you so much for sharing your life with us! i got married in february and i cant wait to start my own little family with my husband :)))
My one year old and I love watching your videos! I'm a new mom and your videos with you an your daughter is inspiring. You're a great mom and we love watching you cook and interact with your family.
You can pickle red onions pretty easily, and they go great with a lot of things. If you slice one red onion the way you did for the salad and put them into a jar you can pickle it overnight in the refrigerator. You make the brine in the jar by filling it with half water half red wine vinegar and some salt. The color of the onion should a vibrant magenta or purple color. The go great on salads, sandwiches, falafels, or burgers!
Your food always looks so beautiful and delicious! And it is very easy to relate to you when you discover that a new kitchen gadget doesn't operate as promised! You still managed to produce delicious "smiles".
I discovered the channel recently and honestly...I love your cooking and trying to learn from it. I wish for you and your family to be happy and healthy always. ♥♥♥

I can't be the only one who saw the Wednesday bento picture and thought "Oh no husbento done goofed up now." 🤣

Yeah, I was traumatized the first time. Now I just can't put up with it ever again. You're brave.
I was thinking the same but I’m worried about rubbing it with sugar and cancelling out the positive effect.
If you rinse it, it should be fine.
We eat this a lot at home. If you would like some delicious recipes, I would be happy to share :)
@@milksomecows thankyou! 😀
Your daughter has so much energy! She is lucky to have a mom to make lots of good food for her to grow up big and strong!
