I just realized that imamu is umami spelt backwards 😂😂 Your videos are so heartwarming 🧡 I like how you make the recipes easy to follow for daily cooking
If someone asks me what "Kartoffelpuffer" are, I will explain them to be "German potato tempura" from now on😁 They are good with apple sauce, but also with salmon and sour cream. Your family seems to like salmon, maybe you would like to try that, too. Thanks for the many delicious meals! 💚🙏
ohh that makes sense, I was so confused as to what a German potato was supposed to be. my family and I are sweet tooth so we really like to eat it with apple sauce and sugar. if you want them as a more hearty meal you could also add zucchini, carrots and a bit of onion and serve them with some ketchup
Your version of German potatoes looks delicious. I live in Germany and I think there are many different ways to do these kind of fried, chopped potatoes. I like the "Kartoffelpuffer" which are made of uncooked potatoes, too, but grated and mixed with onion and a bit of starch, (optional fresh parsley) and an egg, salt and pepper. They are usually served with apple sauce. I will definitely try your version. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for all of them! ❤
The way your daughter wanted to show us all the gifts was so sweet! I wonder if she will realize one day how many people have loved watching her grow up through your videos? Your food looks amazing, but seeing your happy family and learning all these bits about likes and dislikes... It feels like we're relaxing in the kitchen with friends 💕💕
I like how your husband is so appreciative of everything you make. He always says your food is delicious, that's so kind and encouraging 😊keep up the excellent work !!
Thank you for another great video Personal favourite moments: 1) the disappearing potatoes in the german salad 2) the bunny apple pie 3) the banana soy sauce moment 😂
Over time, watching your channel inspired me to be more active about preparing food. You taught me to see feeding someone as an act of love. As a side effect, I have lost 50lbs that I very much needed to lose. So thank you.
I help look after an elderly Japanese woman and she loves to watch your videos! 🩷 The parts with your daughter make her smile, I imagine it reminds her of cooking with her daughters when they were that age!
German potato tempura sounds like a splendid name to me. 😄 If you ever want to try a more traditional recipe: grate the potatoes, do the same with an onion. Mix both together with an egg, a spoonful of flour, salt and pepper. Then fry like you did. They’re often served with apple sauce, cinnamon and sugar, or savoury with sour cream and salmon.
Oh my goodness! Your daughter has gotten soooo big! I’ve watched your videos since the beginning, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen them. Your daughter was still tiny when I last saw her.
This videos reminds me of the moments when I was in Japan for internship programs 😊 I always made bento everyday and take it with small bag from Daisso I remembered the old Japanese lady from another department always brought the big box of bento with so many varieties of side dish. There's also Vietnamese girl that always gives me some fried tuna or salmon from her bento that she's bought from kaisha (office) Beautiful moments indeed ❤️ Big thanks Imamu 😊
omg!!! i ended up staying home from school bc i wasn’t feeling well and seeing this notification popped up immediately made me feel tons better!!! thank you so much for uploading today :) i hope you and your family are well!!
I laughed so much during this video, thank you so much!!! The banana mystery tempura in the soy sauce had me in stitches of laughter. Thank you so very much for including all of the little things that many creators would not keep in. Obviously everything is delicious and beautifully made, so giving us a giggle takes nothing away from the cooking aspect.
You should try doing a very light soft boil on the eggs, then freezing them, and then doing the deep fry. Because the exterior is icy it's melting, this moisture release causes the coating to separate and fall off. By having a solid barrier to hold in moisture the batter will stick better, and by freezing you can ensure you aren't overcooking your egg when you deep fry. You might also be able to use a poached egg, that way you can ensure you are cooking it just long enough for the whites to set and the egg is sturdy enough to manipulate. Also fried banana pairs really well with chocolate, it's a good healthy dessert option.
At first, I was a little confused about what you meant by German Potato. But watching further I got it. So, I'm guessing it's either Kartoffelpuffer or Rösti. In some regions, they are called Reibekuchen as well. Very delicios! :3 You can eat them as a savoury or even sweet dish. The latter has apple sauce on the side or mixed in.
I love your videos so much. Your daughter is adorable and I love to hear you laughing and joking with your family. Your content is fabulous and you inspire me. Thank you. ❤
Hi, I’m from Germany and love your videos. I’d like to give you the recipe my grandmother used to make German potato dumplings. It’s very easy. You just need potatoes, potato starch, salt and egg. First you cook the potatoes in salted water until they are soft. Then you mash them up until smooth. Add salt, raw egg and potato starch until it forms a dough. You don’t need exact measurements. The dough just needs to be the right consistency, squishy but not wet. Firm enough so you can roll it into a long sausage that’s a little smaller than the palm of your hand in diameter. You can keep it in the fridge for a couple of days or use it right away. Heat salted water but don’t let it boil. Slice your dumpling sausage into discs. Then put them in the water. When they are done they rise to the top. They should be smooth and a bit like gum. They taste great with meat and dark sauce or with stews. And if you don’t eat all of them you can fry the leftovers in butter. They turn really crispy. In my family these dumplings are served for special occasions even though they are easy to make. They are usually a side dish for meat. My favorite way to eat them is fried in duck fat with fried onions.
There is another girl on UA-cam named Haru who makes bentos for her husband as well, but you are my favorite! Wish you would post more often, but I’ll take what I can get!
some tips for your pie making endeavours: put baking paper over the rack you cook them on, they won't stick then. also, if you can, picking up a brush (made specifically for cooking) for the egg wash makes it a lot easier. and finally, if you sprinkle the top of the pies with raw sugar (before cooking) or powdered sugar (after baking) it's a very good final touch for a little bit of extra sweetness! please keep cooking, your videos inspire me to cook a lot too!
I absolutely love eating breakfast in the company of a new Imamu room video! They make my day every time 💖 I was actually making apple pie not long ago, and found peeling the apples tricky too...! my trick to make it quicker was to peel just a little bit of the skin with a knife, and then use a peeler for the rest. Because the apple skin is shiny, it's hard to peel without the peeler slipping off, but this way you have a starting point that won't slip~ 🍎
I'm from Germany and your "German potato tempura" looks friggin delicious! ♥ It's not really the way we would do it (I think what inspired you was the German "Reibekuchen"), but I will absolutely recreate and devour it :D
What you called German potato reminds me of Hungarian potato pancakes though instead of being thinly peeled they are grated and using the same ingredients you just did but with a little bit of egg mixed in to help it sick together. They looked so good!
Thank you so much for sharing with us. This person feels happier every time I watch (or re-watch) one of your videos. You are such a good person. And your daughter is a delight ❤
your mom sending you a care package full of Japanese snacks is sooo wholesome! i want someone to love me like that lol. Being a mom must be tough but you do it so well, Imamu. Your husband is pretty amazing too. With the new salon and everything. Yall are the cutest family ive ever seen. And your hardwork is apparent with how lively and sweet your daughter is. I hope this channel continues to grow and spread positivity
I love to add cinnamon and nutmeg to my apple pie fillings along with swapping out some of the spoons of white sugar for brown sugar. It would be so tasty with the custard cream!! Such a wonderful video 💕
i wanted to thank you! during the pandemic i was often anxious and depressed, and your videos really helped calm me down. im very grateful to you and i will always cheer for you!
I always get so excited when I see your videos! I wish they came more often but I know it’s a lot of work to make and edit videos! Your videos are so calming, informative and entertaining at the same time! I also think you’re really funny based on the captions 😂😂 Much love ❤❤
As a German, I never saw someone slice a potato like this :D We usually rasp/grate it and mix it with onions ans eggs and salt and pepper maybe some flour and than frie it.
Theres really a dish like you called your "german potato tempura" - and it's namend "Kartoffel Puffer" here. Normally it's just potato and onions, baked in oil. But your's looks really delicious too!
3:43 This is amazing, you made something quite similar to a german dish called „Reibekuchen“ which translates to „shredded cake“ and is made of shredded potatoes and onions fried in much oil. It‘s served something like sour cream or smoked salmon. I guess you would like it. :D Greetings from germany ;)
As someone who grew up with German potato salad, your German potato tempura got me so excited! Shared the video with my sisters. We all loved the idea! 💜💜💜 You’re such an inspiration to us, thank you!
Hi, Imamu! What a wonderful video. In my house, growing up, we used a mandoline to slice our vegetables really thin. It wasn't until I saw your videos that I could use a peeler the same way.
Been watching for a very long time! I love your videos! I usually start drooling from the first minute! You're caring and nice and your sense of humour is so wholesome and sweet! Wish my mom could cook like you! :)
I am trying to learn Japanese at the moment and I really felt the pay of when I understood the simple sentence structure your daughter used because that is about the level I am on. except i know way less words, but that was really cool
Thank you for posting. I find myself looking forward to watching your videos. The recipes are so easy to follow. I hope you and your family have a wonderful week.

I was missing these videos! Please one day share what noodles you use the most for everyday meals, I can never find good ones! Amazing to see what you do, thank you for letting us in!
The little German potato things almost reminded me of Jewish latkes! Potatoes, onion, deep fried - yep, that's latkes. The sausages were such an interesting touch, I want to modify a latke recipe to include them now!
I love the way you describe your dishes! Taking a dish and making it your own is one of the best parts of cooking ☺ I hope you loved your german potato tempura!
Japanese restaurants (sushi restaurants) here in Mexico serve plantain tempura. The darker the skin of the plantain, the sweeter they'll be when they're fried.
If this woman makes a cookbook, I’m buying all of them!😤💳💥💳💥
Agreed! Count me in too!
Please Please Please!!! I would love one! ❤

I love how your husband "mysteriously" pops up whenever you're frying something :)

I loved that your daughter wanted to show us everything in the package, so cute!
as a german i have no problem the way you want to call you dish! Happy you like our potatoes :D
same, there's so many different regions here that there is not really a consens about the "right" way! Enjoy your food the way you want it! :)

Is it normally ribboned like she did? This version reminds me more of weirdly made latke

@@themagicknightress7132 Kartoffelpuffer are basically the same thing as latkes. Just different names for shredded potatoes fried in oil :)
I think she should definitely try "bratkartoffeln" next. ULTIMATE COMFORT
