Regarding INTP social interactions...I find that I do enjoy them, and I'm plenty capable within them, provided that the social interaction is structured. My go-to example is pub quiz night. There's a definition to the event. I don't have to "make conversation" from thin air, I can rely on the flow of the event to provide fodder and trust that it will move along without need for my leadership. I'm in a service/entertainment industry, and within that context, it's hard to peg me as an introvert. It's a pre-defined interaction in which I know what roles everyone is meant to play.
On the other hand, I'm not so bubbly at parties. I tend to sit in an out of the way spot and observe others, and assure people when they ask if I'm ok that yes, I'm perfectly happy sucking on my security drink and indulging my interest in anthropology. Then, the weird looks...😂

Identify a high level FE user in your life. When in social situations, think " What would so and so say?" I did that and now I can handle well the social game.

i have taken every personality and functions tests and get INTP most of the time, in other opportunities I got INTJ, ISTP, ENTP... IN ONE OCCASION I GOT ENFP and I was really confused... After reading about cognitive functions for hours I realized INTP’s functions match better with me. I came to the conclusion, after reading and taking those tests, that I got those other results because my Ni and Te are well developed too... but in my day to day I choose not to use Ni or Te... Ti and Ne just come out naturally
Oh and also as an INTP I kept questioning those questions because, still, I couldn’t find them specific to a certain situation.. I don’t know how to explain it AaaAaa
anyway no test is 100% reliable :( I just had to study cognitive functions :D

I had a similar experience - the old MBTI 4-letter tests (before John Beebe's congnitive function theory) always had me as INTJ or INFJ. (I used to say INXJ... because I am both logical and care what others think, lol). The "J" was because I get stressed out when there are open ends and unknowns, which is actually just my Ti and Ne in action trying to make sense of the world. Also, the drive to "get things done" didn't seem to fit with "P" in the old 4-letter tests. Now I look back at laugh at myself for thinking I had a high Te (sitting here in my creative mess of an environment).
It was only after studying cognitive functions (and dropping the 4-letter approach) that I figured out that I am an INTP, even though I don't fit many of the INTP stereotypes (which I think are based on early development of tertiary Si and inferior Fe). :)
It makes sense that INTPs can also use Te and Ni, since they sit in the shadow just below our primary Ti and secondary Ni, but it sure is exhausting to use them for long periods! But seriously don't ask me to find my lost keys (Se) or tell you exactly how I feel about something (Fi). hehe.

Same that's what I did but I'm questioning something why does each category use specific functions in there lives sure you do adapt to put different mentality as being more realistic and out going in term of needs but it is slightly confusing to me how the cognitive functions Work And it does do when I studied about Fe dominant which is my sister an ESFJ ans she is a one and my friend INFP Fi dominant yet I see people bashing on the the test saying it's Just make you feel good and not accurate but the cognitive functions as far as I Experienced It does work together it does form your personality And I know I'm not An ENTP I don't fall to Si inferior grip.. so the one question that I have how do we form the cognitive functions?

Each thing is so damn true. I’m glad to have stumbled upon MBTI at age 38 but wish I did so much earlier. I went through many cycles of “why am I so” based on social judgement especially as a female INTP, feeling bad and trying to change in vain. But somewhere deep down I knew I see things as they are and I’m not the mad one here. What MBTI made me realise is that it is not just me but the whole INTPs of the world which in itself was a thought that gave much relief. MBTI made me understand me in a way nobody including me was able to and gave me complete answers and solutions to unblocking the real me.

I wish at the end of this video you'd gone just a little bit further into as a person develops and ages. I think INTPs more than any other personality type tend toward having extreme existential crisis approaching or at retirement if they don't feel that they've managed to focus their lives the way that they would have ( if I'd only known then what I know now sort of thing). The majority of people seem to become wistful at this point whereas at least I, and other INTPs that I know who are close to or past retirement age it's a really intense frustration that of ALL we dove into mentally, we didn't DO anything with it. It wasn't time wasted exactly just time could have been acted upon. I can't explain this, I don't know how, communication has always been an extremely weak spot for me

I enjoyed your breakdown of this, very well done... but there are a few things you should add. Use the word Core when describing what the functions do... All people can utilize any of the traits, however the reason they have a core is because its about recovery,... I.E. an introverted person can be extroverted in actions and decisions for awhile but their recovery from such actions is much much longer, depending on the strength of their introversion.
Also in my experience and research the INTP can also be a frivolous spender of money, and a glutton with food because of the same reasons you stated with one exception. Many of INTP's inner postulation has disassociated with the importance of money, which means in their decisions, they will say "I need this now, I have the money now, so I will buy it now." forgoing the future of their financial strength. How does this happen? Socio-economic upbringing can have a major impact on the development of an INTP. Their core is still intact but the needs are rationalized and moved through differently.

    *Wow. I am subscribing.* 🤔
I have to admit, as much as I am interested in personality types, knowing I am Logician, this is FIRST video, that sums ME up SO WELL. 🤔
Like, I was internally LAUGHING at *Extraverted Intuition* , being epileptic INTP. Like often I talk and forget where I STARTED. 😂
Only thing I know, I have to make out LOGICAL AND CONSISTENT summing up, which makes me less and less eager to TALK, but since childhood, in love with WRITTING ideas, as I can check, correct and overwrite my thought with new thought, that came out as result of reading thought I wrote. 😂
It often made people, even when I was really YOUNG KID, like *What are You even talk about?!* , as I was starting with one thing... And could ending on mechanisms of process of exact universe phenomenon...
Like I just did here. Some thing don't change. Especially with over-30 INTPs. 😏

Thank you! That can mostly be attributed to my editing software haha. While recording I have a mental outline of the topics I want to cover and when I'm ready to record, I'll first give an introduction of the overall point I want to communicate, followed by various subpoints. Transitioning from one sub point to the next is pretty easy as one point reminds me of the next etc. If I mess up a line I simply pause, repeat it in my head, and then out loud until it's perfected. So the process basically looks like: 1-2 Sentences, Pause, Think, Repeat. And when I'm done a segment I'll chop everything up in my editing software.

This is excellent!! I've taken 4 tests and always result in INTP. BUT, I also test 50/50 Ne & Ni. I have a lot of "Ah ha!" or "Knowing without knowing" moments where stuff just comes to me, which is Ne. At nearly 59 I still have no clue what to do with my Fe. I don't want anything to do with the external family, not because they're bad, and could care less about all the traditions and holidays. Most were invented by Hallmark to sell cards!! And it's just hours sitting around having small talk and wasting time. I'm also more driven than the typical INTP. Maybe that's because I am a "mature" INTP, with more than 50 years of experiences. Most people my age have a much better work ethic than the younger "What's in it for me?" generation. Everyone gets a trophy! NO!!! You WORK for what you want! You LEARN from your mistakes!! People aren't entitled to anything!!! Man, that went off on a tangent. Well, that's me. I've got stuff to work on...

I spend money on the things I am interested in as a hobby, and I always try to get the best value, but I am not opposed to spending more for quality if the thing will further an interest. I am not what you would call a saver though. I spend to keep myself occupied.
I do look at many things like clothes and food separately. I cheap out all the time and avoid spending the money on those things as much as I can. I eat one meal a day, sometimes a light lunch. I supplement with vitamins and minerals that help me feel good and keep my brain sharp. I also value vaping because a little bit of nicotine makes my brain fire even faster.

Usually an INTP, during their younger years, are so focused on mastering their Ti that they’ll often believe they can use it to create some logical framework which replaces the need for Fe. That’s why many INTP’s are attracted to the MBTI system. To them it’s like a logical framework that, if mastered, can help them navigate social interactions without actually engaging their Fe. However, most eventually realize later in life that, despite having the reputation of being masters of logic, it’s “illogical in itself to believe Ti can replace Fe”, forcing them to actually start strengthening it. Kind of veered off topic but yes it’s technically possible, but unlikely. If you at least, prior to your current age, didn’t struggle with it at least moderately, I wouldn’t believe you were an INTP.

You probably took a cognitive functions test at sakinorva website or similar. These represents your 8 cognitive functions - Ne-Extraverted Intuition, Ni-Introverted Intuition, Se-Extraverted Sensing, Si-Introverted Sensing, Te-Extraverted Thinking, Ti-Introverted Thinking, Fe-Extraverted Feeling and Fi-Introverted Feeling. Numbers simply mean how high (or how low) you scored on these.
Your two highest scores will be most probably your primary and auxilary functions - so in your case that's Ne and Ti (though you laso have high Fi and Ni). I'd recommend doing some digging on cognitive functions and how they manifest in each position of the cognitive stack and see what makes the most sense to you and fits you personally.

i believe you sorta contradicted yourself by proving a point with a false comparison. you said you don’t think peoples personality types can change but agreed that people can improve or increase certain functions. if one is able to improve or decline functions due to personal will or even force then i don’t understand how ones personality type couldn’t change? you went on to say ‘because you can’t change the way a persons brain operates.’ it seems you’re essentially saying people can’t really change which i’m not sure is something you agree with or not. how your subconscious operates is something we have no true concrete understanding of and i would argue is more connected to a spiritual purpose. of course we can’t change the way our brains operate, we can’t completely understand and comprehend them. what i’m stating is simple i think people can change and therefore do change. and doing such i think personality functions and types can and do change, perhaps with or without altering the way our subconscious operates (i would think with altering). i think your whole life you’ve been altering your subconscious. when you were a baby you didn’t understand anything at all lol. this is simple fun food for thought to challenge you.

I agree. Even though it does take a very long time, personality does indeed change. I used to serve completely different cognitive functions when I was younger.

I think the thing that doesn’t change is your core values. In a book I read, it mentioned there are certain values that were placed and inherited into your DNA, and make up your decisions/path in life. It would make sense God created each one of us individually with different core values. However things like environment can alter your personality and inspire you.
