This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.
Thanks a lot Brian for the comparison ! I was disappointed after buying a keurig brewer because the coffee from k-cup was never strong enough for my taste. I am going to brew my own coffee to see how it goes ! Thanks !
Great video for the novitiates, like us. You speak quickly, accurately, with good diction, and you actually provide real information that is relevant, very relevant. You kind of told us everything we needed to know on the coffee delivery side of the equation. Thank you very much!
i have the My K-cup. a friend gave me a tip for stronger coffee. take a used k-cup. remove the top and the paper liner. trim the lip around the top with a scissors. put the used k-cup in the holder. put the filter inside the k-cup. fill filter. screw on top and brew. it has saved me a lot of money.
I've been using a first generation Ekobrew for years and love it! Mine is the old plastic kind and it's held up like a champ. It makes a stronger cup of coffee, I can choose whatever coffee I like, less waste and more savings! When I one day need to replace my current Ekobrew, I'll look into the stainless steel model. Thanks for the review!
And they also now make these tiny paper filters. Let me say that I love coffee so much that I will take one of those tiny filters and fit it into one of those solo cups and stop the grounds from getting into my coffee. works great too.
I never really started using K-cups until last month, when I got a new job. They have a K45 Elite Brewing Keurig :D I make one cup a day, and a box of K-cups is not cheap! After watching this video, I think I'd get the Ekobrew Stainless Steel Elite, or the Solofill, if paper filters that could go inside of it were sold separately.
Thank You! I noticed that the K cup vs. the reusable filter the coffee in the reusable wasn't as strong even after using a bold coffee. Now I understand why. I think I'm going to buy the steel reusable filter.
Excellent explanation of the process. I'm not concerned about the Green aspect of it. As a matter of fact I start my gas guzzling SUV up remotely 15 minutes before I get in so it's nice and warm or has ice cold air.
Very interesting. When I do it, there is a marked difference between a k cup and reusable when it comes to darkness. The reusables seem to produce up to 30% lighter coffee no matter what I do.
Great video...thank you! If you could do a video on the reusable single serves - brew the coffee and strain them through cheese cloth to see what's left (grinds in your coffee - how much or little). I use the Keurig My k-Cup (because it came w/my Keurig maker) from time to time, but it drops grinds in my coffee too frequently (doesn't bother me, but some people hate that).
I have been making my own coffee in the Keurig for years because I don't like the aftertaste of the coffee in the K-Cups and the coffee is usually too strong for me. I have several different of reusable filters. I also buy the paper filter inserts (which are a lifesaver for cleanup, especially if you buy the ones that have the paper tops, I buy them at Bed Bath & Beyond) to use inside the K-cups. This for me is the best way to make my coffee. I do it at home and at work.
I use the SoloFill basket with the lid. I don't have to use the gray reusable "funnel" in place of the original black one in the machine.Just fill it up, place it in like a K Cup and go!
Exactly! and you just clean it like you regularly would! Solofill is my favorite, and it's more like 13$ now, and definitely better than the imitation or 'off-brand' versions.
Before I did a little research, I impulse-bought a gray unit, and regret it. I also picked up some plastic lids that cover the original K-Cup in order to reuse those. Problem is, they are only reusable three or four times. The Solo is the way to go!
Keurig K75 & Ekobrew Elite Great reviews! I purchased 2 Ekobrew Elite cups and notice that the clamshell lever doesn't completely shut when they are installed. The coffee brews but seems weak due to lack of steam pressure. In your video and as well as others I noticed that your Keurig doesn't fully close either. I wrote to Ekobrew twice regarding this incompatibility bit never received a response. I tried these cups on another K75 unit with the same results.
Thanks :). Nope EkoBrew only for K-Cups brewers. You will need to use Solofill V1. See our video "Solofill V1 Gold reusable filter for Keurig Vue Coffee Maker - Exclusive Review" as a reference. Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com.
My questions is does the Ekobrew have one hole for the coffee to brew through, or is it like the Solofill Cup with multiple outlets? Is the Solofill or K-Cup BPA free? Great comparisons.
Many folks seem to think a coarse grind provides bold coffee but in my experiences you need a very fine ground in these re-useable cups because it creates a slower water flow ensuring you get a nice bold coffee. your thoughts?
Excellent review from the young dude! As at January 2019, refillable K-Cup capsules are a lot less expensive now via Amazon/Ebay etc. than quoted back in 2013. I have a stainless steel refillable K-Cup ($6.00/£5.00) that works fine. It will probably last for many years so very good value compared to ready-filled ones.
Love your reviews brother...I'm 49 years old and just started drinking coffee last winter. Using the old method of drip style coffee maker with Maxwell House coffee I'm thinking about the k-cup style coffee makers and just wanted to learn more...thanks Dude
I use the EZ-CUP system and LOVE it...no cleanup !!! just throw away the grounds in the paper filter and the filters are cheap enough...please review this system...thanx
Do you get more caffeine out of the stainless. I have found that, just like tea or a drip coffee machine, that the longer the water stays in the stronger the coffee. So, that really needs to be asked. Otherwise, great video.
Thanks Brian! I've got my stainless steel filter from amazon and have been using it. I should say the coffee is definitely stronger but it also depends on what kind of coffee i use . I am now much happier with my morning cup. Thanks again for your recommendation :)
Great Review. I have a My KCup reusable. After a year or so of throw away K Cups I decided I love the machine but want something less costly and more environmentally friendly. I may get the Eckobrew for those days when I want to assure maximum strength coffee.
Thank you for the info. Have you done any comparison with the Cafe Cup? It is similar to the Solofill. I have seen it in stores at $9.99 for 4 cups plus a measuring cup.
my concern is that with Ekobrew and Solofill you don't get the saturation with the coffee grounds that you get with a K-cup and you can fix the My K-Cup. KEURIG my k-cup reusable coffee filter FIX!. I've done this and works without damaging the machine.
I can't believe I'm doing this. :( But I realized I've spend near $100 in k-cups within 3 months and I'm the only one drinking a cup of coffee per day. Almost $400 within a year - that's not acceptable anymore. A tub of Maxwell would last me about 2 months for about $6, if on sale. Major difference. I think the extra cleaning labor is acceptable. I would recommend any self-made k-cups but My K-Cup.
Great comparison but still more of an overview. Id love to see a more elaborate review, where taste and strength is mentioned. As i just picked up a My K cup and the brew is weak and the water runs clear barely half way through. Wondering if the other ones suffer from similar issues.
Hi Ugzz, I experienced the exact same issue with reusable filters. The coffee almost instantly turned clear, creating watery awful coffee. The solution is NOT to use fine grind but to use espresso grind coffee. Espresso grind is much finer, almost powdery. The stream starts dark and stays dark.
Ever test different grinds of same coffee using the same reusable K Cup filter? May want to add to this test, comparison of post brew wet weights. Wonder if the standard K Cup wet weight is higher since only one small hole for the brewed coffee to drain from.
please review the javajig. i enjoy it because your not throwing away plastic, but you get the paper filter for fine grounds. if you already did i cant find it.
Brew-Your-Own option is the way to go and by far the cheaper option in the long run using the Ekobrew or Solofill cups! Don't buy the Keurig K-cups, the coffee is weak in my opinion. I am unable to use the 2nd and or 4th cup you demonstrated. It's because when I attempt to close the lid of the coffee maker, I have to push it down real hard and I am afraid that it will break it eventually.
what would you suggest for a grind.....i do grind my own and have now purchased an elite...and was pretty disappointing about the watery taste after the first try....

ive used the metal filter b4 and had to return it...the machine had trouble Pushing the water through the metal one becuz of the very limited amount of screen it has for the water to pass through...dont know how u had success with it?
After using the solofill replacement filter in my Kerrigan coffee maker, it will not work with the regular pre package coffee pods..how can I fix this problem ?
Hopefully you can help me out with an issue I'm having. I bought the donut shop coffee from Sams Club and is the Members Mark brand. I get very inconsistent cups of coffee, with a lot of coffee grounds in my coffee. My brewer will also just stall, acting like it's brewing while nothing is coming out, It will do this for a few minutes. When I remove the K cup, the cup is water logged and the brew basket is also littered with coffee grounds. I've taken some of the cups apart and don't see anything out of place. Any hints on why this is happening with these cups?
If kcups made their cups like how pilot coffee makes their kcups for the keurig with the soft filter bottom and they were much less wasteful I'd actually look at buying them again til then I'll keep using my reusable cuos, much more financially feasible too
For all those people freaking out about the water passing through the plastic of this filter, have you ever opened up a coffee maker and looked at the plastic water lines, rubber gaskets and every other non-metal part that your water comes in contact with? Maybe they make coffee makers with all steel lines, but I have never seen one.
I noticed in your review and test of the Ekobrew cup that when you tried to close the Keurig, it didnt close completely. Is this a downside to this product? Will the Keurig work without the lid being completely down?
This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. Answered all of my questions - I found the Ekobrew at walmart online for $16. Almost $10 price drop in 3 years. Not bad!
I'm glad you showed us how you fill it. Some people don't show that part, and I wondered if it should be packed in or not.
Thanks a lot Brian for the comparison ! I was disappointed after buying a keurig brewer because the coffee from k-cup was never strong enough for my taste. I am going to brew my own coffee to see how it goes ! Thanks !

On the Outside?
Just got mine in today reusable cups and little filters. Will try a cup later today
Is that the little round plastic thingy with all the holes on the bottom of the Kcup?

Awesome. I have also found a product called Kup-Lift to stop that annoying splashing.
Very informative and helpful, I purchased the solo fill but did not not notice that I need to use the Kuerig basket until seeing your video

Yes, I love my di Oro MaxBrew Cup reusable filter!!!

What coffee ground brand are you using ?
Put the coffee filled Kcup and put paper filter. It works great for all reusable filters.
Brew-Your-Own option is the way to go and by far the cheaper option in the long run using the Ekobrew or Solofill cups! Don't buy the Keurig K-cups, the coffee is weak in my opinion. My only complaint is with the Keurig Machine itself, Keurig needs to increase the Temperature it heats the coffee to... on average, Keurig heats its coffee to around 160 degrees... Great video. Hope to see a review of the new Brioni's Green Cup soon.
The My KCup is not compatible with the Keurig Commercial grade brewers, but the Solofill and Ekobrew is compatible with most of them.
I'm sure it's said many times ... but who doesn't have access to the K Kup size filters these days ... so Solofill will work fine with them ... I like making my own independent ... because I like Teas n such like Cocoas or even other drinks I make ...

EXCELLENT PRESENTATION. 😊
I really hope the emphasis on how the brew-your-owns require more work isn't off-putting to people because throwing grounds away into the organics bin really isn't work.
well you have to rinse it out between uses
Thank you for your video. I have a question which.... typical of my life experience.. has not been addressed by anyone else... maybe because I'm just an idiot. But assuming I use 11 grams of coffee per brew... wouldn't the smallest cup option give me the stronger brew of coffee than the larger cup option?
Yes it will. I get the strongest and most flavourful cup using the 6 ounce setting.
I wish I'd bought a model that had the strong button which slows down the brewing to get stronger coffee for the larger sizes. it probably would help with the reusable filters.
He didn't say you can get little paper filters for the refillable K Cup.... No grounds.
Can you please make a video of nespressio latisma plus I really want to get one but I would like to know what you have to say about it because I'm a coffee, espresso guy so can you please make a video of that?
Thank you in advance!!!!
Looked like there was some issues with the keurig closing the right completely. Would that hurt the life of the Keurig?
It's optional. If you use filtered water you really don't need it. But if you use tap water yes we would recommend it :). Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com

Ok..How many tabs. are in 11 grams? ..I am in the US...Thanks
mine doesn't close! I can't get the top to fit down right...😭
I have the Keurig Office Pro B145. Do you now if the Ekobrew will work with that model? My K-Cup did not work.
where is the best place to buy the echo Brew filter I see a lot of people selling knock-offs
SteelCity ever find a good place/site to buy the real one? I've had no luck. Returning one now from Sears.com.
No...Just been using the regular ones from Starbucks, local grocery store, I only drink coffee on the weekends so I think I'll just keep using these, are u still searching..lol

Will the SS Ekobrew fit in the Breville -BKC700XL ?
Thanks
all i did was rig up an old empty one and just fill that ... dosent work the best but eh? altho im gonna buy the solo fill
After using the solofill replacement filter in my Kerrigan coffee maker, it will not work with the regular pre package coffee pods..how can I fix this problem ?
How should the coffee be ground for these "brew your own" baskets? Fine or coarse?

I would try Ekobrew instead of My K-Cup. Also you can try to change coffee grind. Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com.
Oh quick question. Will the stainless steel one fit all keurig machine ? I have the platinum . Thanks !
Will this be applicable in a commercial coffee shop, or it is too slow?
What can be rigged up as a refillable to use for a whole carafe?
Yes sir! It does fit!! Thanks!
I cannot find the Eckobrew anywhere can you help?
It's here already :). We'll do review next 2 weeks. You can buy it at Khols right now. Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com.
He has a weird tiny My K Cup filter. I use mine over others because it holds a lot more coffee.
Thanks so much. This is so well done. I learned what I needed to know.
Any idea if the Vue will be having reusable cups anytime in the near future?
If kcups made their cups like how pilot coffee makes their kcups for the keurig with the soft filter bottom and they were much less wasteful I'd actually look at buying them again til then I'll keep using my reusable cuos, much more financially feasible too
What machine did you use. I know it was a keriug but what type.
Does the ekobrew require a paper filter at all?
Did I miss how coarse your grounds are?
can I use k cup filter to do loose tea?
but what about the taste? i've used the ekobrew before and it made a really weak cup... even tho I packed that thing with coffee grounds.
For all those people freaking out about the water passing through the plastic of this filter, have you ever opened up a coffee maker and looked at the plastic water lines, rubber gaskets and every other non-metal part that your water comes in contact with? Maybe they make coffee makers with all steel lines, but I have never seen one.
which one brews the best coffee?
does the stainless steel get hot. can u pull it out immediately or wait for it to cool down.
Reusable K Cup Filters for Ninja CFP301 DualBrew Pro ?
I noticed in your review and test of the Ekobrew cup that when you tried to close the Keurig, it didnt close completely. Is this a downside to this product? Will the Keurig work without the lid being completely down?
He over filled it. There is a specific fill line inside
