I just bought a Keurig last night. I bought it at a store that sells stuff that has either been returned or the store was closing. Mine looked nobody used it. The manufacturer tape that hold everything from moving was there. It was 70% off. It is the Keurig Compact up to 10 oz cup for $30

Been using the Keurig My K-Cup for years now. I grind a light ground and and am not bothered by any sediment. But then I'm 68 years old and survived Folgers coffee. If I wasn't using any K cup I would probably just use a French Press. Great video.

We used to make coffee on the stove when I was little and there was a lof of coffee grounds left at the bottom of the cup after drinking, nothing bad happens if you drink/eat coffee grounds left at the bottom of the cup. 😁

On a side note, if your bottom needle breaks on your Keurig you can still use the My K-Cup reusable to make coffee until you can replace your Keurig

For what I understand the mesh lets also the oils extracted from the coffee beans drip into your mug, which is actually a good thing. The paper leaves your coffee nice and smooth but less “complete”, it makes any sense.

That explains this slight swirly oily bits above the coffee I've been noticing.
It looks a tad gross and I tried my best to clean the cup and machine to no avail. It did taste fine thou.
I guess if you are making coffee for somebody else with this it's probably easier to add a bit of milk to emulsify the oil rather than having to explain that it's not from a dirty filter/cup.

This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

Why? His lack of knowledge and understanding about how to use the new K-Cup has made numerous people throw them out thinking they are garbage. Its all because he tells people to take the red seal out, but thats what causes you to get grinds in your coffee. We told him this in the other video, but he still went ahead and made this video anyways.

QUESTION for Just A Dad: can you do a video or maybe a series of Keurig videos for us Tea Lovers out here?
I just got back from visiting my daughter’s place and she has a K-mini plus. Since I’m not a coffee drinker, I have never used a Keurig, but I was curious. It was your videos that I found to learn how to clean and maintain and how to use a Keurig, and in no time, I found myself using my daughter’s machine like a pro….to heat water for tea!
As silly as it might seem, I fell in love with the machine so much that I went out and bought myself a K-mini that same week, and because this particular model just so happened to be on sale for $30 off at Target! I much prefer the convenience and the aesthetics of the K-mini/K-mini Plus over my electric tea kettle, and for some reason, I find myself using the Keurig way more often than I ever used my electric kettle-and I enjoy using it so more than using the kettle!
I’m not a coffee drinker at all, and I live solo, so I primarily plan to use my Keurig for all hot drinks OTHER than coffee, and occasionally for hot breakfast cereal as well. It’s also convenient to be able to brew coffee for my kids when they visit, and for other guests who prefer coffee. Essentially I’m breaking up with my electric tea kettle over my new love affair with Keurig!
As far as tea goes, I like to drink both loose leaf and teabags, so I’m curious to learn which machine(s) or machine features work best for different types of tea brewing (loose or bagged). Which brewing methods seem to work best in yearns of convenience and taste?
Can any of the special features such as over ice, or strength options included on certain models be useful for brewing teas?
Of the re-usable filter pod(s), which one work best for tea and/or other hot beverages.
On the topic of other hot beverages besides coffee or tea, I have all sorts of questions, like for instance, I know that they make k-cups for apple cider and hot cocoa, but could I use a scoop of cider mix or cocoa mix in a reusable filter pod instead? Or is it al just the same to just use the Keurig to heat water and mix in a scoop of cocoa or cider?
Are their any noticeable or significant differences in the end results depending on which method is used to make teas and/or other hot drinks besides coffee?
Since the k-mini was $30 off at target right now, I sprang for it even though some of the other more expensive machines have intriguing features that might be nice to try with teas such as the strength feature, and the “over ice” feature. The k-mini is my entry into the world of Keurig, but might it be worth the investment later on to upgrade to a more advanced model with additional features?
Will you send out some love to all of my fellow tea-lovers and me, and pleade do a video or maybe few different videos on Keurig tea brewing?
Love all of your informative videos and side by side comparison videos I’ve seen so far! Keep up the good work!
    Sincerely,
    Just A Tea-Loving Mom

Oh my goodness... This video was so helpful. I just bought a K Elite machine and one of the "My K Cup" filters and it was making a mess! Coffee grounds everywhere, water spilling out of the machine... I thought the filter was bad or it had a faulty seal. Turns out, my machine only has one needle. So thanks to you, now I know I have to keep that red rubber piece inside the lid of the filter. I was about to throw it out lol. Thank you!

Re: the paper filters. My wife prefers to not have any of the coffee ground dust in her coffee (doesn't bother me). Consequently, I needed to either use ready made K cuos, or buy filters for the do it yourself inserts. But they are simply too expensive for what they are, so, being the penny pincher I am, I bought a 700 count package of Bunn size paper filters at Sams Club for less than $5. I then proceededt to start saving the plastic K Cups from the ready made pods, gently removed as much of the foil top as possible, and them also gently removed pretty much all fo the paper filter inside. Just depends on the brand of K cup as to how easily you can clean them up. Once I had a nice stack of them, i used them as forms to make the K cup size filter papers, using scissors to cut away the excess (which goes into recycling). I now have about 100 of those cups, and once the supply dwindles down to the last few I just make another big batch of them. You can search out videos here on UA-cam to see how it's done if you'd like.

Thanks for the video! We just bought the K Duo Essential and I have found the opposite with leaking, the My K Cup Universal leaks badly. The Perfect Pod works much better than the My K Cup. Not using the paper filter with the Perfect Pod just using the screen filter. I liked the idea of the larger My K cup especially to brew a 12 oz for travel mugs, I was thinking it would have worked perfectly since it's a Keurig pod. The Perfect Pod seems to have been updated from what you have in the video so maybe that is the difference.

I've used the perfect pod without the filter for years in my 2.0 brewer. Yes I get a little sediment in the cup but the flavor is still very good. I have found that you need to clean the brewer basket area occasionally as it builds up over time unless you brew Tea by the hot water function alot. I don't have the issue with water on the top of the pod with my Machine. The filter may cause that issue. I tried the Keurig reusable pod but it's to complicated. I get to use my favorite coffee with the perfect pod and save money at the same time!

You might try cutting a 1-4 basket filter in half. Push it down to fit the inside, add coffee, fold it over then close the reusable. If it's too full trim the top a little. It holds the wet grinds and you can just dump the filter in the trash. Much cheaper than using the special filters and cleans up a lot easier.

There is an easier way to make a single if you want to try it. Take one of the clean filters for the carafe side and put your two table spoons of coffee in it. Remove the grey bottom part, close the filter up with a twist and put it directly in the funnel on the single side. No brown reusable adapter or reusable pod needed. You can still dump the used filter in the trash. Be sure to give the top of the filter a good twist so it keeps the grounds contained. That way you only need one size of filter and you don't have to cut them in half. If you want to use a k-cup just replace the grey part and it's ready to go.

I made a mold for the keurig k cup. You just place a standard Mr coffee filter over it form it with your hand first, insert in the basket fold it down over the edge then cut with scissors. Once you get the hang of it’s only takes 15 seconds make one.

First, I want to thank you so very much for your informative videos on how to use the Keurig brewing machine. I used to use a Black&Decker coffeemaker but my wife didn't like using it, so we switched to the Keurig. Since I'm an engineering type, I had figured out how to make up several days worth of molded filters with the various coffees we used and store them in small jars for the Black&Decker, but again, she didn't like having to deal with all that.
So, in changing to the Keurig, I wanted to have a filtered pod and be able to store them in jars so I could make my coffee without using the expensive K-pods that my wife likes. With a lot of viewing of different videos, I came up with a solution which works for me.
I use a Perfect Pod wire mesh filter (purple with lid) and PerfectPod EZ-Cup 2.0 filters (with cover). I put the filter in the pod, making sure it is well seated in the bottom, then put in a measured 2 Tbsp of my coffee (using a stainless steel funnel I made) then pack it down a bit. Then I take my coffee brush (small artist's brush) and put a divot in the center of the coffee with the brush handle, put the paper cover over it, then close the pod.
I have cut the tops off of my wife's used k-pods and use them as an adapter under the Perfect Pod. This seems to slow the flow of coffee through the pod enough to make a decent up of coffee at the 10 oz. setting.
Again, thank you very much for your help with dealing with Keurig issues.

Actually you can wrap a paper filter around the outside of the filter for the My K-Cup (not stuffed into the inside) or actually put it into the filter holder. The paper is thin enough for the filter to fit into the holder and it prevents most, if not all, of the grounds and silt from getting into your cup.

I love My coffee (at least 2 - 3 cups) in the morning and love My keurig machine!
I use both the perfect pod and the My K Cup as both work perfectly with homemade filters I make ahead with #4 round coffee filters.
I purchased 2 - My K cups at 50% off, so I use the 2nd for a perfect mold for the k cup basket with a #4 round filter cut in 1/2.
I do the same for the perfect pod using 2 empty k cup pods and never have sediment in either.
Just like the ready made filters you purchased at Amazon are pre-formed, I do the same with this package of 100 #4 filters I purchased at the dollar store which makes Me 200 keurig filters which is super cheap!

Great video, thank you! The biggest issue with all the items you demonstrated on is that you’re pouring very hot water through plastic. In the long term, that cannot be good for your health. There are primarily stainless steel reusable K cups that work well, despite having some degree of sediment. I try to avoid heating plastic, and the terribly hot water going through all these k cups are too much of a health concern for me. I’ve used the Ekobrew Elite Stainless Steel Reusable Filter Keurig 1.0 2.0 Single Cup Brewers but as it has become difficult to find them, I just recently purchased (had not used yet) Reusable k Cup Coffee Filters,Universal stainless steel Refillable k-Cups Filter Use for Keurig 2.0 and 1.0 Coffee Makers-brewers(2pack). Neither is too expensive and plastic is really not an issue using these. Again, great video!

I have never been so disappointed and a coffee maker in my life. I gave away my single port unit and purchased the one with the extra 4 prongs. I purchased several of these pods. with the 5 whole universal K cup By Keurig. I removed the red gasket and I am using the newest K cup by Keurig. I purchased several of them and I keep them clean by using dawn. It's the only cleaner that cuts through the coffee oils. You just have to rinsome a little bit longer when using dawn. The gasget around the 5 prongs on the unit itself no longer seems to be to seal properly. I am getting a back flow up through where it seals which flows into the dispensing chamber which flows directly into your coffee and cup. This unit is only 5 months old. I am going to contact the company and see what they have to say about this. I will let you know what they say on this site. If you have any advice concerning this problem I'm open to anything you have to say, or possibly a video about it or both.

This could be a known issue Keurig has with the lower needle basket. I would call Keurig customer care at 866-901-2739. They have great customer service. It sounds like your bottom needle basket needs to be replaced. These can become distorted over time from the heat or it might not have been made correctly. They can send you a new one. It's not that big of a part and it's easy to change

Water with the purple replacement pod is probably due to the fact that with the Kurig, pod, the hole that is punched seals the water into the coffee grounds. Also, a finer ground would probably produce a richer beverage.

great vid. I just got my first K machine, have used these at work for a while, went away from them cause of taste or after taste. The Keurig play's on the senses, smell, sight, hearing but maybe not the machine, may it is?, unless you grind the coffee beans fresh the taste is rough more specifically the after taste. I will continue to use little Mr. Coffee with fresh ground coffee, I might try the adapter made for the Keurig, though I don't really see the point, just use a paper filter in a 4 cup regular machine. That said the Keurig I got as a fancy hot water dispenser, used for; hot cocco, and tea which it does very well. What can I say I succumb to the black Fri. thing and got a slim K machine, it is a very nice hot water dispenser but so is my Mr. Coffee which for coffee is easier to use and clean and I can get 1, 2, 3, or 4 cups ready to drink in one shot. To use freshly ground beans I would need 4 individual "reusable K cup adapters" it does not make sense.

@@JustADad I recently learned that Starbucks allows its whole beans or grind bags to sit on shelves for up to 34 weeks. I hadn't looked around for a grinder-K-Cup filler combo either. Just stumbled upon it when searching for a measured grind device. The main benefit of K-cup/Nespresso is the convenience of not having to clean up. But I accepted the trade off of not having fresh roasted bean for the ease of K-Cups. Learning that the grind in pre-packaged K-Cups may be over a half year old led me to see if there was an alternative.
Peet's Major Dickason's blend K-cups are my "daily driver", but there is a roaster in Los Angeles called Silverback Coffee of Rwanda (Rwandan Single Origin coffee bean) that I order from online. They ship the same day they roast, and the bags arrive still warm from roasting. The experience of almost any just-roasted bean is _Euphoric_ in comparison to the gamble of stale stuff that's found in K-Cups. But again, there's the clean up. The solofil + paper filter may promise to be the best of both worlds.
Please let us know your findings. Looking forward to it - and just Subbed to your channel. Thanks!!

It brewed well enough but I didn't really do a comparison taste test. I will tomorrow. I went to Perfect Pod's web page and they now call this the Perfect Pod 2.0. I didn't see the original pod on their site.

Very helpful! Thank you. But you can’t use your existing filter in the new cup? Guess it sits too low? I’m thinking many folks won’t care much for the sediment. More than likely, as with most things, it’ll take a bit for third-party manufacturers to adapt and offer the newer products we’ll be wanting. Hopefully, it won’t be too long. The 5-prongs are a pretty new feature? Good to know, tho, that the taste has improved!

I use the Keurig Supreme. The one with the 5 needles. I have discovered how to get rid of the sediment when using the Keurig My K Cup reusable filter basket. I have found that the Melitta single serve coffee filter that comes 60 in a box works perfectly. What you do is place the paper filter around the Keurig wire mesh filter basket and then just slide it into the black housing and put on the lid. I wish that I could show a video. The Melitta paper filter is small with a flat bottom. The bottom of the wire mesh filter is the same diameter as the paper filter. Just insert both at the same time into the black housing. It fits like a glove. Again, I do not get any coffee sediment in my cup. You can buy the filters at the grocery store. I shop at Publix here in Fl. They come in a small orang and green box. I only use the Keurig "My K Cup filter. I did not read all of the comments, so if someone already pointed this out, I apologize.

I've never had any setament in mine. I find the paper filters were a waste of time & money. I've had the Keurigs since they first came out ....I hate the My K-cups. I just use the regular reusable k-cups, also, you can rinse them off & then put them into the dishwasher, that way I don't have to worry about getting the soap rinsed off really good. also, I just use a regular coffe scoop, it the perfect measure. Also I've never had any water on it like yours. I use the black pods. I did have a purple one, then I got the black ones. you get more pods in a package.
also, I definately think the Keurig coffee maker makes better coffee than a regular coffee maker & no pot to have to wash, & no chance of ever breaking it!!!
Also, I don't like Folgers coffee,so maybe that's why mine tastes better! To each thier own though!

Great comparison. I have one important question. Because these K-cup pods seem to be plastic only (and not metal) the coffee temperature is not as hot as it should be. If temperature of brewed coffee would be higher (near boiling) the plastic pods would start to melt. What would you think?

No need to measure your cup, just fill your cup with the amount you want to drink, what you pour into the machine is what comes out. Has trays for pods, coffee grounds, soft pods, and hot water. No fuss no muss. Happy caffeine!
