In the South Pacific, Master Higgins lives peacefully wearing only a grass skirt and a cap. That is, until the Evil Witch Doctor decides to capture Princess Leilani and hold her as his own. Now Higgins must rise to the task of saving her!
The most obvious way to save time in this game is to pick up as little fruit as possible and be close to dying from starvation when the level ends so the score-countdown will take less time.
This movie beats the previous record ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 01:12.16 minutes thanks to a bunch of new time saving techniques found in this game since 2006.

For people who don't read description this a tas - tool assisted speedrun. This means that every button press is pre recorded with frame precision. He doesnt collect fruit so that he spends less time on scorecounting. And yes this game is about a man going through hell just to get laid.
Still a better love story than Super Mario, which is just tragic.

Speedrunning while avoiding the fruit is the most impressive part of the run.
It's TAS, no one can play this accurately. WR for humans is around 40 minute, which is still impressive......

Beacuse the fruits way vame has set traps thats why he's avoiding to be fast is think
this game is one of the hardest in history if not the hardest with cheap traps around every corner. Average gamer don't usually get past level 3. Without the internet I never thought I would see the ending.
HARDEST NES game I played back in the day and I played a lot... Never got passed 2-3... Its so much a pain in the ass... AI2 and AI3 were easier
@@riggs100 the worst part about the game is that you never have a second to rest not enjoy scenery of a stage but sprinting and keep and eye on the fruits so that you don't run outta time. And by holding B what makes if difference than a racing game?

Me too. With the combination of sensory overload and the constant threat of draining health and tight jumps, there was absolutely no way I was gonna beat the game unassisted. I understand all the nostalgia that the first game brought to many, but to me the hellish aspects of the game seem to overshadow the good bits. The sequels sound more fun to me, to be honest, especially since you now have buddies to help you out.
Well when I was 12 I reached 8-3 and I couldn't take the jump which is at the end so difficult..

I love the speedruns like this and Sonic where the idea is to do as poorly as you can and still win so it (presumably) doesn't spend a long time counting down your health/time

I played this game for months when I was a kid. I got to 8-4 with 6 lives and my cousin spilled a strawberry milkshake from burger king into the Nintendo ruining the system and the game. Still never beat it. It's the one who got away...

@@Chris-ki2dx no. Lol. I was just a kid. It was 33 years ago and I still remember it. Like I got knocked out by my sister... didn't happen but you get theg gist. I had him. I knew how to beat him. It was over... just not how I expected. Years later I had my younger brother ( 9 years younger.) download it on the wii by telling him he couldn't beat it. 5 hours later he gave up cussing after he couldn't get past level 4. I felt vindicated...

While it is impossible not to pick up some items, TAS players aim to pick the least amount of them to save time. In this game, picking up fruits adds time, which ironically makes the speedrun longer than it should; in addition, picking the trophy consumes more time during the speedrun. This is where usually harmful items, such as the eggplant, are beneficial in order to save time for the reasons mentioned earlier; the fairy power-up makes Master Higgins run or skate faster, though. In my opinion, this game is hard as heck, especially because of the lack of Warp Zones, or save points (although you can unlock infinite continues if you manage to find the Hudson Bee on 1-1). There are fun facts that cannot be found in other games, for example, if you pause this video at 4:13, you will see the face of the boss you must face when you are about to clear the next area.
This was an excellent Blockbuster Video weekend rental! I beat the game too in the early 90s but definitely not as fast as you did! Congrats
@mike_t_007 The game was cleared by a Tool-Assisted Speedrun, which is why it looks way too easy. I am glad you cleared the game in the 90's. It is an achievement you should be proud of. Yours truly couldn't afford to rent it back then, but thanks to emulation I was able to clear it; let me tell you, even with emulation, this game is hard as hell.

I completed 7 worlds in this game. Unfortunetly I lost in 8-3 and I droped my weapon. Without weapon I couldn' t complete 8-4 level. I must try again finish this game in future. Furtunetly I finished third part of Adventure island, which was similar hard as first part, but in third part of the game we have a lot of power ups, so when we lose, we don' t waste all our weapon.
8-3 probably the most difficult level of this game :) i was 7 years old when i reached this level :( memories

Wait WTF he did to skip the 4th flag on levels 2-3 and 7-3?¿? I saw clearly he taken the hidden key before the 2th flag, and he skipped the first elevating platform for travel on the second one. I tried the same several times but I never appear directly in the goal and I'm still forced to complete all the 4th flag. What's the secret someone would know it? 😨😨😨

This is whatwe call A Challenge not to game but to the Team who produced this game.
I have a video game called Megajoy II that has that game and several from the Famicom and NES. (good games. even has mortal kombat). I was never able to completely clear this one. Seeing this TAS doing insane things fills me with indignation.

@@mike_t_007 even now that ive tried this game on an emulator using the rewind feature i found it so hard to beat this game and i have yet to do so... even as someone whos beaten some other classic games like smb lost levels,punch out, and mega man 2, this game is such a pain in the ass. even after having experience with this game on my old wii way back i could never beat the first world back in the day.

whenever Sekiro beat the shit out of me, I only remember the fact that I finished this game on our old family computer, 100, 100, and 105% Crash Bandicoot 1-3, and played the "easy" version of DMC3. then I play Sekiro all over again.

Apparently, there is a Japanese variant with more texture and a more delicate flavor than a regular eggplant.

When I was like 8 or 9 levels in, which was VERY HARAD TO DO, after failing so many times, my mom wanted to sweep the floor and stepped on the console, that shut down the game. I lost all progress and that was it. I thought I'd never ever be able to see this game again, let alone ending of this game which was literally impossible to cross level 3, without internet and people like this lol

9:20 maaan I was trying to figure out a doable way to pass this part with skateboard for half an hour but it was really hard starting from the seventh platform so I checked that tas for it and it’s just doing the frame perfect jump easily what a nightmare
This game is actually Wonder Boy on the Sega Master System which came out a year earlier. My NES friends never knew why I was so good at this 😅

When Hudson Soft was an unlucky game development company their lowkey idea was creating games contain of as many level as impossible to beat, which is why Bomberman 1 so hard, when the idea won't work again and they need renovations they threw the their products into different type of genre, because laziness. Poor Bomberman and even this little long lost whitecap caveman
This is Wonder Boy by Sega. Hudson got the copyrights to bring it the NES but with a different character. Tom Tom is now Higgins
