    Love Rainn Wilson! He has done some great stuff. I was bummed when Backstrom only lasted one season. I wish him the best.

    Rainn has had wildly successful career. He had a walk off grand slam and it would be unrealistic and self harming that he would hit a grand slam every time he goes up to bat.

      Everyone who has ever been on a popular TV show has been typecast to some degree. That's the reason they can get huge salaries - it's because the longer they do a show, the harder it is to be accepted in different roles.

    • @MedalionDS9
      @MedalionDS9 5 місяців тому

      Yes and no. Not everybody gets typecast... typecast is when they are so identified with a role they cannot get work elsewhere because of the role they are most identified with. It is a hindrance than a help. @@Nathan-gd7xq

    In terms of advocacy the only self honest thing i can say is: "try to do what I'm trying to do"

    Uff, I feel for you, Rainn. Dwight/The Office was such an outlier, with such broad penetration and recognition... the ultimate not-just-type-but-character cast.
    I really hope you get to show the rest of the awesomeness you've got in you in the future!

    I'm confused why Rainn didn't get more roles. I loved him in The Rocker and Shimmer Lake, thought those roles would boost him. 🤷

    I think that take on buddhism is terrible and completely missing the mark. It in no way suggests it is just a release, to be used sometimes when you feel bad. That makes no sense.
    Desire is inherently a slippery slope, you can't pick and choose when or what to want, it is wanting in any form that you're taught to escape from. That's the whole point. That's why practicing buddhism is hard.. you can't just live a normal life if you really buy in. Obviously no one on youtube is going to be a very a serious buddhist, but you can understand it accurately.
    Not to say "you can't" literally, obviously a lot of people do think they practice the way he described, but it's as sensical to say you can use buddhism when convenient as people who say they're christians then complain about homeless people.

      I like what you say about buddism being misinterpreted and underestimated in its harshness as a practice. And i like your take on (christian) hypocrisy. But also, how do you define the limits of what is buddhist enough? When is it correct Im not baiting, i align with your take, but i find it confusing myself that buddism exists outside of the discipline of monasteries and that of the millions of global practitioners who consist of hundreds of diffferent strands and types of buddism, i dont think many of them focus that specifically on practicimg the hardship pertaining desire per se, whilst they identify as buddists and exclaim it as their lifeworld. (Also in my interpretation its not about escaping desire, as much as many forms of buddist meditation aren't about escaping thoughts - it's always there and deserves to be sat in and be left to itself and let go of and then unavoidably welcomed in again.)
