Keeping my fingers crossed for a Michelle Yeoh Oscar
The true Oscar is a spot in our hearts
I truly believe that if Oscar has a little bit of justice in its voters or whatever it is behind, Michelle could easily have the most precise and monumental Oscar moment in history for an Acting Award.
Movies like this don't tend to get oscar campaigns, let alone attention from the academy, but the huge following could maybe lead to a nomination or two
We know she deserves that and more, whether she gets it or not.
This film deserves several AA's: Best Picture, Best Actress (Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Quan), Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Story.
Stephanie Hsu's may have been the villain, but it's not clear cut detestable. Even Jamie's. I loved every character. Such a positive crazy heartwarming film.
the fact that it was one of her first lead roles and she played it so convincingly and well.... stephanie hsu's talent is there
@@Raraus I know! She is amazing in this. Every line executed so well. Like, Shang-Chi was the first film I've ever watched her in anything, and she was whatever in that; she was your typical side character. But this film, she blew me away. I didn't expect to like her in this role so much.
She was great as Jobu Chewbacca.

there’s no other american film in recent memory that puts a working class immigrant asian woman as its lead and hero without making the whole movie a sob story about the immigrant/asian/diasporic experience. that’s what struck me first. how important that is. how much joy we could get from this deliberate design and casting.

Imagine they did the entire film on a 25 million budget. There were only 5 people who did the editing and the visual effects. Truly amazing movie knowing how limited they were given.

I am late for the party. After Michelle and Ke won the golden globe, I went to watch the movie and was obsessed with the movie since. I have watched tons of interviews and reactions on UA-cam. Fingers crossed for them to win Oscar best picture, best director, best actress, best supporting actor and actress, best editing and best original screenplay.
This movie is too perfect for words. It's unfathomable in it's execution. Perfection.
Shoutout to this interviewer for giving everybody time to talk and allowing for interesting responses. A rare skill.
I love this movie, and I am sooooo glad that the Daniels did not go with Jacky Chen or anybody else for the husband role and went with Ke Huy Quan even after the lead change. EVERYBODY is just PERFECT!!
Michelle Yeoh was fantastic as she always is and I hope she wins an Oscar, but Ke Huy Quan was a REVELATION. His two monologues about kindness just broke me.

one of the BEST mindblowing equal parts hilarious/tearful/eventful & packed with action films that i've seen in SO long. the more research i've done on the film, the greater it gets. mind you it was only a team of 5 people that worked on special effects in this larger than life film - amongst the other BRILLIANT editing/creative/acting tricks this entire crew came up with to deliver this film

I have been a fan of Jackie Chan for my entire life and this time I'm so glad he didn't do this movie, because Michelle Yeoh was absolutely, truly, beautifully shining. If she doesn't get an Oscar I'm done with the Oscars.

Everybody acted so welll in this complicated and zany movie. And a few genuinely laugh out loud moments. 10/10 This will surely make you look at life in a different way. Pity the US is such a belligerent nation on the world stage. Perhaps an Asian American president will bring peace and a different set of values to the office.

Hmm, Jackie would've been interesting, but I don't think it would've worked as well. The mother daughter dynamic is strong in this one. The woman driving away her husband and daughter isn't something that is portrayed too often in cinema, not to mention the patience and sweetness that some fathers can have. I really don't give two turds about any feminist agenda, but it added to the uniqueness of the movie; it made an already incredible movie a little bit better. Jackie chan would've been great in the husband role, but the husband actor was already reaaally good in the movie as was everyone else.
