@MotoCouple totally understandable, I also cried so much when the mother gave her statement in court and started crying after saying she lost her best friend 🥺
In an odd twist of prison justice, even while incarcerated the beasts become prey. Many don't make it out alive and are immediately 'bulls-eyed' and wiped out by other prisoners long before the sentence is set to end. Those times I am grateful.
@@victrola2007 So they say but my abuser did. He tortured me. All of the hate he left prison with he heaped upon a child with a sadistic mother Why so many of you feel prison reforms child abusers I do not understand. They do not fear prison. Especially when they are led to believe they will never get a life sentence if they do not murder their victims. As Alladian movie mentioned. You cannot believe what you are capable of living through. We have to change the laws because there are just too many abusers out here who have written them. Too many families paying to protect offenders from justice.
Our world would be a much better place for children if we eliminated these kind of criminals. The excuses that children were the perpetrators are the worst. A child acting out is not soliciting they just need a hug. That adults like pretending children want it. This is a lie. Training a child to accept this kind of abuse is unforgivable.
“We want first-time (child sex) offenders, life in prison without parole.” Amber’s mom just said the solution. These type of child murderers had previous related offenses and were often let off the hook on the first go.
Only problem with that is if the punishment is life in prisonment, theres no incentive for sex offenders to let their victims live. Its sick, but its how some people think. If i get life in prison for murder, and life in prison for abusing a child, i may as well kill them anyway :'(
Yep. A girl was kidnapped and murdered last April in Enid Oklahoma by a man who had just gotten out of prison for kidnapping. He never should have been released.
Child sexual assault resulting in murder, yes. Lifetime no parole. However if sexual assault of a minor child had a conviction of lifetime in prison then about 1 in every 20 men and 1 in every 100 women would be in jail for their lifetime for THAT offense. Disgusting and true. It hasn't gotten worse its just being reported more to the police. Then just think, that for every pedophile sexual encounter that IS reported another is not. Many know about it and cannot leave or are adult victims of assault themselves from the same offender. It's a cruel and disgusting world that we live in. Protect yourself and your children. It can be a stranger danger situation OR it could be someone in your own family.
I feel gutted for Amber's brother. I can't imagine how much that must've weighed on him, and at such a young age too. I hope he knows it wasn't his fault and he's got therapy for the situation.
I thought I lost my 3 year old daughter at Santa Monica beach. We just arrived at our spot on the crowded sand. I proceeded to put up our canopy, and not a minute later, she vanished. We were freakin out, yelling her name with no response. About 2 minutes went by with no trace of her anywhere. Luckily for us and her, she had jumped into a 3 foot hole about 20 feet from us that some young girls were digging. They yelled to us, is this her? Thank God it was.
The same thing but different, my mom told me when I was little, and when my mom was doing the laundry, I was riding on my little bike like Amber, I was going to the store because I was a fat slob without any money, and then a Karen or a lady but it was like a karen came and she almost called the police but my mom noticed I was gone and she looked for me and luckily she found me before the Karen called the police, and my sister heard what my mom told me, she said "If you were in jail, you wouldn't even be here" and my sister playfully called me a Bad Girl and yea, I was almost, but not clearly after that situation, I got the butterflies after hearing what my mom told me and I even prayed to God and I said thank you to him, if I was in jail, I wouldn't even be here by now
Donna saying that when Amber Alert brings another child home safe she looks up and says you did it again, baby girl… that really made the tears spring to my eyes
Agree, that bit really got to me too. Donna has channeled her own pain into helping others. There have been some dramatic improvements recently in DNA testing resulting in decades old crimes being solved. I sincerely hope that Amber’s case will soon join that list. Donna really needs the closure. I admire this brave & beautiful woman.
This is the one case I pray that they find the person that murdered this child...my aunt and uncle lived in the apartments that Donna lived in at the time...I was 16 and I'm now 45 and it still bothers me
Wow! The guy that called police and described A MAN in A BLACK TRUCK. He never got a good look at the guy or how old or new the truck was? How do we know the caller wasn't involved? I mean..... did the Cops and forensics do everything they could? The same with the Jon Benet Ramsy case? Both happened the same year. Was everything examined? Autopsy report? I'm sorry. I hate seeing things get unsolved.
The blood on the bed gets me everytime I hear of this baby's rescue. Thank you Amber for helping keep our children safe. She has saved countless lives over the years. My daughter is 9 and my heart goes out to her mother
I can feel the pain of Amber's Mother. It's not that my children were kidnapped but died at birth. Someone told me I have the best babysitter ever, this statement helped me to be able to cope through all of it. I'm so sorry Amber's MOm Has to go through life without her child but her child is doing Gods work from Heaven and her Mom did everything she could to stop this from happening to another child. Prayers and Peace to her family. Thank you for never giving up.
When they said the little boy was blaming himself for her death I teared up, It's so sad that this kid had to go through that because of some evil and descipable person.
Hearing her mom say that she held ambers hands after she was murdered and told her “mommy is here now” just broke me. The absolute despair and rage they must have felt is beyond me. I can’t picture this being my daughters or this puts me into a dark place. Killing a child should be an immediate death sentence. And I’m not talking a controlled, peaceful “last meal” situation. Let the family and the community handle people that hurt children. It’s what they deserve.
Not a death sentence, let’s put them in a confined padded cell with no windows, where lights are so bright it begins to burn their eyes. Death is too easy, let them suffer before they die.
We tried that a few centuries ago. It didn’t work out so well. That mob mentality ends up doing much more harm than good for the rest of us. We’d end up with ‘The Purge’ on our hands pretty f’cking quick. The thing that bothers me is that they let them back out. At very least they should never let these people out again. Ever. I was married to a guy who was in prison for several years before we got together. He was moved around a lot for fighting, and talked about his time locked up in five different Michigan prisons. He told me that in all of them, guys who hurt kids are made to suffer. These are men who prey on little children. They’re weak and pathetic. Utterly defenseless against other men. They wander around with targets on their backs, and are harassed, beaten, raped, stabbed etc. by other prisoners. There are definitely fates worse than death. May their nights be long, and their days excruciating.
@@milkshake5569 no no make them have little slices all over their bodies, and then throw them into lemon juice and we'll call it the *murdurita punishment*
I don’t want to go into very specifics . But my brother was abducted in 2001. We have a similar alert system in my state/country. He was found within the hour, in a man’s car at a local football oval. The man was there to buy drugs from someone and left my 6yo brother locked in his car. We lived in a small town, everyone knew everyone. A man and woman walking their dog recognised him based on his description on local radio. The man refused to leave the area near the car, the woman ran to call the police. I am so grateful for it. He was scared, but he was not hurt. I imagine someone like Amber resulted in the system being adopted here, saving my brother. RIP Amber, thank you for saving so many children.
Is your brother OK? Your brother is OK hurt this comment is yes and if not, just delete it. OK please please please please let me know. Please let me know. Please let me know if OK. I just read the comments and it said your brother is good. OK
Jeff is the best. He really drove all over to find the car that took Salem and found it. He saved Salem's life. She'd probably be dead if it weren't for him. 👏🏻
These predators are absolutely disgusting. My heart goes out to all those affect by these horrible people who, themsleves, have removed their right to deserve to walk this Earth.
As much as I hate getting amber alerts and hate hearing about these children being abducted, I am so thankful for amber and what they turned her tragic case into. She is saving children. I hope she can rest easy knowing what she does for other children.
I feel so bad for the little brother, I'm sure he's still blaming himself for something that was not his fault. The damage these nasty beings have on the lives of their victims is unbearable.
I feel for the mother. No parent should outlive their child. Loosing a child is something she would never recover from. The brother is still young so I can’t imagine how he must be blaming himself when it’s not his fault. J just hope they got him help or any help he might need. After something like that, I’d have my other child in therapy cause it’s difficult to process at his age and feeling responsible so it makes sense he would act out.
I visited her grave. I didn’t know she was buried in Arlington until I moved there and I wanted to pay my respects. It was a very peaceful and somber area near where other child graves were located. I remember theres a little bear on her grave. RIP little Amber
It seems insane to me that the Amber alert wasn't a thing until Amber's mom fought for it. You would think that it would be an automatic thought for radio stations and cell phones to broadcast whenever a child has been abducted. It's a great thing her mom did which has saved many lives. Watching the little girl getting rescued by the cops was happy but sad at the same time seeing what she had to deal with...
There weren't cell phones back then. We didn't know anything happened until all the sirens and cops went flying down the street. It was a great step in the right direction, implementing the Amber Alert system. There was a new flash on TV within the hour. Many people organized, and many went out on their own, searching for the black truck and any signs of Amber. I believe the perp was able to ditch the truck quickly, in a garage or shop somewhere. Because it would be difficult to hide at that point.
Things like that don't spring out of nothing. Someone has to think of it for the first time, and other factors have to align before the idea takes root. At the time, the internet was still not all that common outside academic circles. Cell phones were analog, and most people's news came from broadcast television or radio. It wasn't, by any means, an obvious thing to do. Note the fact that it took ten years for every state to adopt the system. To effeojnedib7208: Obviously, you're pretty young, if you were unaware of cell phones. They most certainly existed by then. Bell Telephone created the first cellular telephones in 1947, and the first commercial cellular network was in Tokyo, 1979. After that, it grew fairly rapidly. I recall them quite well...big, clunky, ugly things.
@@firstlast2414 That’s really not true. Yes, cellular phones existed, but they were huge brick-like things that almost no one had, you wouldn’t carry them around with you unless you were a businessman who needed it, and you’d still have to be in range of a cellular tower to be able to use one. They were absolutely nothing like todays phones, and you couldn’t receive messages on them. I’m not sure what point you were trying to make, because there would be no way to send a message, and even if you could, it probably wouldn’t transmit to anymore nearby. Cell phones weren’t commonly used until the late 90’s, and most people didn’t have a cell phone until after September 11th, 2001.
I admire on how smart Amber’s brother was to not follow Amber far from home and decided to turn back. I’d say he did a good job of keeping himself safe
Great respect to Jeff for going his own way for searching the girl himself without any fear. We really need people like him, and we all need to be like him.
Definitely so much respect words don't do it justice. If that amazing man didn't go out on his own and look, that baby girl would most likely have been found dead..if found at all. Absolute hero
I lived around the corner from where this happened. I will never forget the weeks and months that followed. My daughter was 6 at the time and talked about Amber quite often. I will continue to pray that Amber, Donna, and Ricky get the justice they deserve and that one day this monster will be caught.
When her little brother was at his kindergarten graduation or whatever event that was and they said he wanted to be a police officer i started crying. The fact that he feels guilty or thinks he could have protected his older sister is just so heartbreaking. Love to him, his mom, and all of Amber's family and friends. Thank you, Amber, for the children you have saved. 💕🙏🏻

My dad has always been overprotective of me ( He is a retired police officer ). I always got annoyed by it. This story is making my change my thoughts on it.
Growing up, I thought my mom was so overprotective but as a parent myself now, I completely understand. There are sick f*cks out there who literally deserve to die. Watching this made me both incredibly sad and incredibly angry. These disgusting predators need to be removed from this planet.

I've always wondered why the amber alert was called "Amber". Its so nice to see that Amber's mother didn't just lay back and do nothing, but rather, she fought hard so that no other child would go through the same thing. Truly deserves respect.
@@sarahwales6276 That's why I think her killer is probably in prison for something else. We've seen so many serial killers admit to crimes they weren't even being investigated for.
The criteria for Amber Alerts are VASTLY different from State to State. We need them to be uniform and broad as practically possible. Our children deserve that!
Definitely, in PA I would get amber alerts practically all the time, when I went to the south Nc,SC, GA area I never have gotten an amber alert once. Not once in 4 years but on Facebook I’d see dozens of missing persons being posted… so sad and so scary
The really sad part about Salem's abduction is that cops had already searched the hotel room hours before. SOMEHOW, in a hotel room, they didn't find her. The pastor's call prompted a 2nd search. She had been raped during that time. How do you not find a child in a tiny hotel room?
I thot that was pretty incredible too. And how they just dismissed her asking for her clothes when she was found. This is a child who's likely just been sexually assaulted and her number one concern was a little dignity and privacy and the cop just said, don't worry sbout ur clothes honey" uh... her number one concern should be his number one concern.. thankfully another cop did think to cover her w a towel.
@@shannonkey9926Those people have NEVER been the wisest, and a lot of them participate in illegal activities anyway, as well as being involved in trafficking. That’s the FIRST thing they should’ve done. Wrapped her up in a sheet, while comforting her. And it’s not likely, she definitely was.
@Reiney maybe. But Rape victims wear their clothes to the hospital all the time. I wasn't really suggesting he should take time to find her clothes and put them on anyway, i was just saying dismissing her like that probably wasn't great and they should be prepared to deal with victims instead of retraumatizing them by holding a naked child against his body while he carries her away naked in front of dozens of other men. Thankfully the other cop thought of that, cause the guy who wanted to be the hero to carry her out didn't think of it.
For a successful child like Amber, no one should deserve this. Kidnappers should be stopped. I still can't believe that this still happens today. RIP Amber Hagerman Fly high Amber!
I watch true crime 24/7, it seems, but this case is so touching. I’m so sorry that little Amber was lost, but she became a guardian angel for so many and a saving grace for so many. What an absolute treasure of a person her mom is as well
With those types of lifestyle choices, the chances are, he went to an early grave. It’s so infuriating that he wasn’t caught immediately, given an eyewitness who called in a description of the kidnapper & vehicle, then her being found on such close proximity.
@@sunshine3914 he was arrested for the kidnapping and molesting other young girls. His last victim escaped and he confessed to killing Amber before he died. His name was Curtis Dean Anderson. May he rot in hell.

This was literally one of the most heartbreaking videos i have ever seen. The motel seen and that child being nude I couldn't have taken that sick freak out of that place alive. God bless you Amber and your strong mother for being so amazing to help others
Good lord… I have two little girls. The pain I feel for this family is overwhelming. I cried watching this. Although this happened over 20 yrs ago it’s still a prevalent lesson today. No matter what country you live in, no matter how nice your area…you must be careful with your children, anything can happen. RIP Amber.
The Amber Alert has saved many kidnapped children, so it has been a wonderful success! It also led to some states creating a silver alert program that is used for elderly people who wander off and go missing and has absolutely saved their lives too. Donna, I'm so sorry about what happened to Amber. I hope you know that she would be so proud to know how many lives have been saved in her name because of you. You have changed the world every single time a life has been saved with the Amber Alert and the Silver Alert ❤
The Silver Alert is a good idea too. Don't get me wrong, grown adults should be free to roam and wander, but if a person has dementia, Alzheimer's or any other disease that mentally and cognitively impairs them as they age, they're much more vulnerable and at a higher risk of being taken advantage of. There are also pervs out there who "enjoy" grandmothers, and criminals who see older people as easy victims to steal from, ransom and rob. We need to do more to protect society's most vulnerable people.
In Amber case, the coincidence that this happened after a group of people were filming about her makes me suspect that someone in that crew is related. This group learned about her habits and schedules… I don’t know if police investigated them
Not compulsory the crew but after it was broadcasted, any neighbours, any inhabitants of the same city .. why they made this documentary ? Is the first question. Really strange.
This honestly shows that how bad a case may be, those parents wouldn't give up. It's honestly heartbreaking to see them trying and still terribly sad and worried. At least they found the monster that hurt that little girl and her family. It's good to know that at least another innocent child wouldn't also get hurt, But it's so sad how this world is just becoming more and more toxic every day. I pray that that family is going to heal. And that Amber is in a better place. But it also shows how in the past, nobody worried about how their kids could be abducted, and now how every single person is nearly never outside.
@@ADDrecords And it's so sad how even if people still do let their children outside, they still worry about kidnappings- It's not that nobody goes out anymore, you know? But just the fact that we have to worry about everything.
People absolutely worried about their kids, that's why her mom said don't go past the end of the block. You must not be old enough to have been there, it was literally the pinnacle of stranger danger
People always think the past was painted pink and everything was perfect. There was probably the same or more incidents like this, there were just more kids nobody cared about, less information about events happening outside your area, and the police force and investigation tactics weren’t like today. My grandma had 11 siblings, two died of sickness as infants, one run away at 15 and they never heard about him again and one drowned at 11. It was normal to have a ton of kids and not have all of them survive, it wasn’t a big deal. How many of those kids that run away forever or had “accidents” back in the day were actually victims of crimes? How many predators go on vacation to poor countries and commit their crimes there without nobody batting an eye? Did someone reported in the multiple kids of the Weinstein or the Belgian p*d*phile ring? People are more careful about their kids because they have less of them, so they can be more attentive, and every time there is an incident like these (with “important” kids at least) it gets reported everywhere for weeks with a lot of detail, they remember every case, which makes it seem like is something that happens every day or more.
When they found Salem in the hotel and the police man taking care of her made me smile but cry at the same time. Rest In Peace amber, thank you for saving all these little kids.
@-YellowGuy you should really look into that Salem story, TLDR the cops fked up big time and another team of cops had to go in and do the search again.

I remember the shock to our community. I was living a few blocks away during this time. The cops flew down Browning St. that Saturday afternoon. I was outside working in the yard, but the sirens brought many other neighbors out. At the time, it was guessed that no witnesses came from the laundrymat because most were illegals and afraid of deportation. It was also suggested that Amber's body was found down stream from the actual dump site on the following Wednesday, because the rains were heavy enough to cause the creek to flow heavily. There was another child abduction not long afterward, just up towards Saginaw. Her name was Opal Jennings. The perp fit the description, but was in a car. The perp was caught, and eventually admitted to kidnapping Opal, although she had not been found at that time. I believe her body was found some time later (a few years ?) I never heard much about the perp after. Ambers mother and I stopped at the same 7/11 on Abrams St, many mornings. It was sad and surreal to see the back seat of her car fill with stuffed animals from Ambers Memorial each week. RIP little Amber. I still cry for your baby, Donna.

Amber was sexually violated, surely they should have found the murderer’s DNA on her. So even if they can’t find a match in the DNA database, they could use DNA genealogy to find match to his nearest relatives! I really wonder why this case is still unsolved.
Absolutely true and not just for kids. Here in France, a woman was killed in early 2000 , she was in her early 20's , her parents never gave up and maybe 10-15 years later, DNA tests gave two guys , one dead inbetween but one arrested and still in jail thanks to that.
Not all families are interested in genealogy or don't think giving DNA is really all that reliable for finding relatives or much other than possible country of origin. I'm tracing my family tree but have not done the DNA thing as I am doing it the old way through records.

The sad thing about Texas is you hear about child abductions almost every other day. Like I live near Fort Worth, and I got 3 amber alerts yesterday night and 2 today. It's really scary as a teenager tbh, knowing that I could be snatched and taken away at any given moment Edit: just got another one right after I made this comment :0
It's not Texas, it's that you live near a big city, of course there will be more terrible humans living there Also don't let the fear rule your life. There have sadly always been child abductions
That's what happens when Amber Alerts are abused by using them to enforce custody rulings and stick it to non-custodial parents instead of using them to find actual child predators. The other thing that happens is people start ignoring the alerts.
my mom actually knew amber personally. my mom was, at the time practicing to become a dental hygienist so she would take impressions and other like assistant stuff before the dentist would come in. she took amber's teeth impressions and when they found Amber's body they came to my mom's work to get the impressions of her teeth to identify her. my mom said she was a sweet bubbly girl. story is such a shame and its terrible they haven't found her killer.
I can't believe this is still unsolved. The loss of Ambers life to put in motion the Amber Alert that has saved thousands of kids is so sad it had to be her but had it not been then it wouldn't had been put in effect. Her mom is remarkable. Maybe advanced DNA testing or ancestry genealogy could help catch this monster.
Did they follow up on the doco crew and people they may have told about her. It's too coincidental for my liking. The DNA search should start with that crew.
That poor girl that was saved, the bed enraged me so much. The horrific monsters who do this need to put away for life first time they touch or look at images of s/a , they keep letting them out until they kill.

Same! I hope they looked into it! Seems too obvious to overlook. Plus, the same crew was following the mom while the police was searching. Great way to know what they’re about to do one step ahead.
And she was an excellent student, you know, followed rules - and yet for some reason decided to go beyond where she was allowed to go and somebody in a truck just HAPPENED to be there waiting to snatch her up? Naw bruh... somebody in that welfare crew secretly set something up with her and were waiting for her to get there or something 🧐

In an odd twist of prison justice, even while incarcerated the beasts become prey. Many don't make it out alive and are immediately 'bulls-eyed' and wiped out by other prisoners long before the sentence is set to end. Those times I am grateful.
👍 NO MERCY
@@victrola2007 So they say but my abuser did. He tortured me. All of the hate he left prison with he heaped upon a child with a sadistic mother
Why so many of you feel prison reforms child abusers I do not understand.
It’s just so objectively wrong that wasn’t already in place. It should have always been that way.
Only problem with that is if the punishment is life in prisonment, theres no incentive for sex offenders to let their victims live. Its sick, but its how some people think. If i get life in prison for murder, and life in prison for abusing a child, i may as well kill them anyway :'(
yet drug dealers get life .. they force NO ONE especially children ! i’d rather have the weed man as my neighbor then these freaks

I thought I lost my 3 year old daughter at Santa Monica beach. We just arrived at our spot on the crowded sand. I proceeded to put up our canopy, and not a minute later, she vanished.
There’s no justice like vigilante justice 🤝
Almost all Amber alerts are a non custodial parent taking their child in violation of court orders. Not abductions by a stranger.
@@effeojnedib7208 Wrong. They did exist. They just weren't considered essential like today.

@Reiney maybe. But Rape victims wear their clothes to the hospital all the time.
🙏🏻
Is the sliver alert from “amber” or named after someone?
Sadly, sometimes kidnappers kill their victims when they see that an amber alert was launched.
THANK YOU!!!!
Also the amber alert isn’t used for good
There’s no such thing as coincidence. I believe they crew was connected in some way.

And it's so sad how even if people still do let their children outside, they still worry about kidnappings- It's not that nobody goes out anymore, you know?
I think it's the same guy, why didn't they interview him?

I was 9 when this happened and I lived pretty close to it. My mom was already very paranoid about abductions and this one nearly sent her over the edge. Agree the movie was so sad based on the death

I think one of the detectives stated the river she was found in had washed away most of the evidence
Not all families are interested in genealogy or don't think giving DNA is really all that reliable for finding relatives or much other than possible country of origin. I'm tracing my family tree but have not done the DNA thing as I am doing it the old way through records.

It's not Texas, it's that you live near a big city, of course there will be more terrible humans living there
Also don't let the fear rule your life. There have sadly always been child abductions
That's what happens when Amber Alerts are abused by using them to enforce custody rulings and stick it to non-custodial parents instead of using them to find actual child predators. The other thing that happens is people start ignoring the alerts.
For though... Luckily for me last one I got was the other week. I live near the killeen area so I understand.
Fr not for
my mom actually knew amber personally. my mom was, at the time practicing to become a dental hygienist so she would take impressions and other like assistant stuff before the dentist would come in. she took amber's teeth impressions and when they found Amber's body they came to my mom's work to get the impressions of her teeth to identify her. my mom said she was a sweet bubbly girl. story is such a shame and its terrible they haven't found her killer.
