Great review, thank you. I wish all reviews were this in-depth.
This monitor is exactly as wide as a 27", but almost 3" taller. I don't think people realize how huge it is because they're thinking 28" isn't much bigger than 27" but the aspect ratio here is 3:2 not 16:9 like almost every other monitor 27-32", it is in fact almost as large as a 32" 16:9 ratio, but with higher 4K resolution (2560 vertically instead of 2160).
I currently use a 30 inch dell but it's 16:10 and it looks HUUUGE compared to even a 30 inch 16:9 monitor. This monitor is 3:2 so it's even more squared off. It's going to feel pretty big for most people.
@@Geardos1 sounds good, except there is no such thing as a 30" 16:9 monitor. All 30" monitors ever made were 16:10. Not that that makes any difference for the point we're making. Thanks
My RD280U just arrived today. Nice monitor, 4K is crisp and colors are nice. 60 hz isn't the best and text scrolling could be better but the 3:2 ratio is just sooo good. KVM feature works well with keyboard, mouse, and webcam connected to easily move between my personal windows pc and usb-c work laptop. Also the backlight is a nice feature I didn't really need but it makes a difference in my setup.
excellent review! thank you for paying attention to those details. I was wondering how it would look with mac os but it seems to be built with that in mind.
Very well articulated.
What kind of resolution do you use on this on mac? do you use it as if it was 2560 in horizontal dimension? how's the scaling? cause its not 2x but 1.smthin.. i dont think it should be used as 1920 cause the contend wpuld be too big.
Lovely video thanks. I notice you also have the BenQ GW programming monitor in your video. That is what I currently use. Would love to get in touch to discuss if it’s worth upgrading to RD. Made contact via your website. Thanks again for a great video.
Are the speakers loud and clear enough for audio calls?
Also, do you know the pixel pitch of this monitor? I am trying to understand if its panel width is same as 27" 4k monitor?
Finally, can it automatically switch coding mode on and off when switching between coding editor and other apps?
How does it switch between laptops? I have a MacBook and a Windows laptop, and the monitor worked fine with windows laptop but when I am connecting it to Macbook via usb-c, it does not display anything.
That's an awesome desk, where did you buy it?
This is a desk from Taobao
@@kalestarlerI’m more impressed by the lamp and fireplace haha
I just wish it was 120 Hz. I'm so used to 120 Hz gaming panels at this point, even for work, it's just hard to go backwards. (Then again, I've always been sensitive to 60 Hz refresh since the days of CRTs. Had to set them to 75 Hz or I got migraines.)
I second this. And I hate how 120 Hz is synonymous with “gaming”. Any monitor that isn’t 120 Hz minimum is an absolute deal breaker for me.
High refresh rate will lead to worse picture quality and worse quality control e.g. more defects and backlight bleed.
"bUt I nEeD 120hZ fOr bRoW-" Stop playing competitive sweaty games and branch out for once!
You cringy gamers need to stop forcing everything to be gaming-focused for your corrupted minds.
What is the wake-from-sleep time of this monitor when using macOS?
Do you mean if I wake my MacBook from sleep, how long it takes for the monitor to turn on? Hmmm. I never really measured this
@kalestarler Yes. Almost all monitors are very slow to wake from sleep, except the Apple Studio Display, which is instant.
When is the 32 inch coming out?
Should be September
This is almost as large as a 32" 16:9 ratio because it is 3:2 ratio. It is as wide as a 27" 16:9 but almost 3 inches taller. That is only a little smaller than a 32" 16:9. The difference is they add the inches at the top, not the width. I doubt they'll ever make a 3:2 32", makes no sense as it would be too tall.
Please what typing game is that
Long waited on the matrix that was used in Huawei MateView but from decent vendor and such a shame.
1. Lack of USB-C ports.
2. Speakers 2W?? Insanely little. My latitude 7200 2-in-1 sounds better
3. Audio Jack just out, no mic in
4. 7.5 W charging power for your mobile device. Seriously?
5. No Etherley. 50/50
6. 5 Mbit usb speed
very similar specs to MateView resolution, contrast but 400 instead of 500 nits.
VESA mount???
