- Replacing the the transmission mount and passenger side engine mount. I did not do the driver side because it was impossible to get to.
I was actually here to see the driver's side mount put in.
Great video if not the only video that someone actually cares to show the process
Thank you for the tips, although I ended up having to remove the top bolt exclusively through the very tight space in the engine bay. I did get the driver side out. What I did was lift the engine with a hoist as far as it would go without breaking stuff, and then ratchet strapped the engine towards the passenger side to give me enough clearance to get to that bolt with a modified pass through socket wrench (I made it a stubby by cutting off half of the handle) and it all came out. I had no choice but to do the driver side as that mount had torn clear in half.
I sliced the living shit out of my arms. One of my buddies told me to go in through the wheel area and remove the fender linings, but there was nothing there but metal, so that didn't work.
You got that lift up in your house man... That shit is cool as hell👍🏾
Gotta do this today on my 07 e550 sedan. Should be the same. I hope. Your video makes it look fairly straight forward
How about the driver side of the engine mount?
Thank you for you posting this video.
This really helped thanks a lot
Whenever I remove a part, I always place it down exactly the way it came out. Also, always have a sharpie on hand if it requires more detailed reference points.
What about the driver's side engine mount? was it as easy?
Hahahahaha.......good luck!!
Did you get a change to record the drivers side. I plan on doing this job next week. Also should I jack up from the bottom or use a cherry picker from the top?
Never got to the other side. It was super difficult. I used a jack from under neath on a lift
@@portugeepride that’s scary to hear. Did you ultimately give up or you didn’t need to do driver side. My driver side mount is completely shot so have no choice. Starting to get worried, any information would help. Truly don’t want to pay $700-1000 for the labor cost.
@@ArabMobn I gave up. It seems impossible at the time
@@portugeeprideso you literally left 1 side with an old tired mount, & the other with a brand new one?! How do you think that imbalance will treat the 2 new mounts?! 😂
The drivers side requires 100% more work than the other 2 mounts you did. At a minimum, you MUST drop the exhaust. You also have to raise the engine a ton & possibly remove the power steering pump & ac compressor. Some people loosen the steering rack. Some people actually lower the subframe & remove the entire bracket from the block which the mount is bolted to since the top bolt is virtually inaccessible.
I had the pleasure of only dropping my exhaust & spending literally hours inching away at the top bolt, 1/32 of a turn at a time. Hell, but doable.
Torque specs for trans and engine mount screws?
So when I’m driving down the road there’s a noise under my glove box that sounds like my transmission is slapping it i replaced rear trans mount but it’s still their any ideas? It’s 2002 Mercedes’ Benz clk 55 amg
If it happens under hard acceleration, that's the front motor mounts, one is snapped off. I experience the same issue... if I accelerated hard and let off the gas, it would feel like the transmission just smashed into the body of the car and you could actually see the shift knob move. Turns out, its the engine lifting off the cradle and dropping when you let off the gas.
