This is one of the most informative 722.6 removal procedures I have seen. Thanks for posting the video - It helps ordinary people like me keep our cars alive.
thanks bud makes me happy to hear! Make sure to subscribe and hit that bell, I have a lot more coming on various Mercedes chassis. I like to show as much of the process as possible to help the DIYer who's doing it at home. I know I always wished there was videos like this, so I figured what the hell, I'll make them. 💯
Hi there - a great pair of videos - Thanks very much! Howabout part 3 - The Fix? I am in the process of removal/install with a replacement (2nd hand) gearbox on my C class 220 CDi Coupe (4 pot diesel) as the dreaded ‘Strawberry Milkshake of DEATH’ happened to my original box when the oil cooler (in the radiator) failed and mixed the transmission fluid with the coolant which destroyed all the clutches in the gearbox. The clutches have their friction material glued to the steel plates with a water-based adhesive which basically makes them dissolve when you get water in there! Not to mention the many, many engine flushes to remove all the pink nastiness & then a new radiator……. I also serviced the replacement with a total drain, a new contactor plate & all new oil/filter. Very little wear apparent if the old oil (a brownish colour but still smooth with almost no deposits in sump pan) is to be believed. Anyway, I was going to comment on getting to the top bolts - I found that if the propshaft & exhaust were removed (I just took off the front exhaust clamp and pushed the exhaust over to the side) as well as lowering the transmission rear down (until the engine sump was just touching the front crossmember) gives a very good view (with my head up into the transmission tunnel) of the upper 5 ‘invisible’ bolts. With many socket extensions onto the ratchet handle, it is possible to crack them loose and off quite easily. I also added/glued a small magnet inside the socket so the bolts could be withdrawn along with the extensions. Happy days!
just posted the final video a few minutes ago my man, I'm glad you like the videos! yea man I had the milkshake in my 99 c43 AMG from the tranny cooler failing internally but I now have an external one that does not run through the radiator. nice tips and tricks you got there! I might have to use some of them!
I’m doing a swap on my 03 c230 kompressor because changed the conductor and fluid and filter but it only acts half way right on cold start then after you park won’t move at all. Giving a P2502 code gear implausible and slipping. So I found a use one I’m going to swap in. Will I need to program it are can I just do the relearn process and it be good. I am going to replace the conductor in the used one just to be safe before instal.
Man, I need some knowledge! I have a 04 c230 kompressor. I have what appears to be transmission fluid coming into my coolant reservoir. Any suggestions on what might be the issue?
I don’t personally know much about that model but I would figure out how the transmission cools its fluid and figure out if there is a leak where fluid can get into the cooling system, example: my black c43 had an internal leak in the tranny cooler and coolant was getting pumped into the transmission
@donroni408 I appreciate the suggestion. I will take a look and figure that out. I don't know anything about this car. I bought it as a project car. Thinking it would be fun and give me something to during projects on the house. I'm finding out NOPE, not fun, and my mechanic skills are very basic...
I’m doing a 2010 c300 4matic, are there big changes between that and the car in this video? Also what’s the total time you spent from the time it was lifted to the time it started and drove?
what kind of changes do you mean? its a different engine and a different transmission, yours has the 7 speed transmission I believe and mine has the 5 speed 722.6
@@RatanaTan yea its pretty much the same with any make and model. they just might be in slightly different location or on the other side but they are all going to have some shift linkage, 2 cooler lines, bell housing bolts that bolt the transmission to engine etc.
This was good to watch, smoking a joint and drinking tea. Wondering about those tires placed nicely in front of a car they don’t fit lol. Since you got the aftermarket dipstick, does it work on that E, and the ML. If so, what’s the specs on the stick lol, so I can make one for my ML, I’d imagine the pan hasn’t changed across the classes.
haha I was waiting for someone to ask about those tires. those will be going on my brother's black ML55 AMG hopefully before summer time because im also trying to get my SL500 ready by then as well because... top down weather! im not sure the exact specs on the dipstick but here is a link for one for 30 bucks from fcpeuro, www.fcpeuro.com/products/mercedes-automatic-transmission-dipstick-oes-genuine-140589152100 I use it for all 722.6 with stock pans
@@Chetsterling i saw their social media post, im gonna have to look it up, looked like they were doing the springs and stuff in the valve body? ive been wanting to do that really bad but the couple times i looked up the kit it was back ordered. ima go look at their video right now actually. thanks for the heads up bud
@@Chetsterling yo just watched it. thats actually pretty impressive, ive only heard about replacing all the springs but never heard of drilling out that hole to 4mm. id be lying if i said i wasnt very tempted to do that but i want to also replace all those springs... i need to do some research. thats for the recommendation ! i have a spare valve body from one of my c43s. i wonder if i could do the same for my 2000 sl500?
I ended up moving house and shop in the middle of part 3 so I do have a video coming out but it’s not going to be the best, it’s kind of recorded on go pro then some on the phone.. It’s been really tough with the move. More so just moving the shop. You really don’t know how much stuff you have until you have to move it all haha
good evening, thank you for your help, it's the best video I've seen on the subject, I myself am in the process of dismantling a 722.672 on an E500 4matic it helped me a lot and in addition I also have an sl gray r129 as well as an s320 w220 so your videos help me a lot, thank you again and see you soon (I'm in France)
your definitely welcome my friend, I see we have the same taste in vehicles! I have never been to France, I have been to a few other countries in Europe just not France yet. i will be having alot more videos coming out within the next few months and by spring hopefully a full suspension refresh on the r129 sl500@@pacogonzalez2645

Cleanest undercar ever, and very detailed info provided!
Thank you! Hopefully the video could help you out
Videos like this more interesting to watch for us that don’t work on cars
Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do! I try not to leave steps out but sometimes I might forget haha!
Good job! Imagine you have to do that under the car on the ground with jackstands.
Thank you! Once I bought a lift I don’t think I could ever live without ! Ended up having to buy a second one !
I'm getting ready to do this on jackstands with a 722.9 XD Should be interesting.

Yea pretty much the same
you can measure how far back the TC sits before you remove it to make sure you get it back the same.
