  • Forty-seventh track day. Annual thunderhill west reverse event, this year in the e46 for the first time.
Pretty great day. All things considered. A little bit of slow traffic/lack of point by/awareness from several cars.
Weather forecast showed rain and thunderstorms all day. However, it cleared up after lunch and was basically dry. Kinda the perfect wet event. Half wet then half dry.
I have grown fonder of wet days since the wet laguna weekend and pouring Sonoma drift. Had a pretty good time during the wet sessions. Just smooth - flow state - low grip driving.
Was day 4 (20hc) on my second set of Kumho V730s.
They were slicks by this point and definitely had to walk on eggshells in the rain.
Had the same front, outer-tire wear as the last set. Delaminating/cording on the outside.
Heard several accounts of this exact same behavior from others. (Even with 3.8 camber)
Amazing tire tho. Can't beat $1k mounted. Will run them again at some point.
Next weekend will be my first time down in SoCal tracking. Vacation time.
Trying streets of willow and buttonwillow with the F80.
Thunderhill West 5/4/24 hosted by Speed SF. Red group (Fast - Open Passing 1)
    Highlights:
9:43 - Spinning tires through the wet straight. One of many.
22:23 - 60's Porsche 912 spins out near wall with traffic
    35:05 - Best wet lap 1.42.26
    1:01:05 - Can I just get by?
1:03:07 - Nearly hit slow Porsche
    1:06:43 - Personal best lap 1.25.15
1:21:08 - I try to join the E46 M3 big boy's table. Quickly denied. lol. Miss shift didn't help.
1:27:26 - Start fuel cutting a little. Had to end session, forgot to refill gas.
