Vent windows were AWESOME! Deflect in the air while driving. Smokers loved them! Had a few wasps deflected in while driving on the highway, actually a lot of bees and wasps over those years. .... Nasty. That was with my chevy pick ups... you could spin them all the way around.
My 67 RS/SS convertible disagrees, wind wings are great for a breeze, and the side glass isn't floppy from not having a track to hold it in place, also no side marker lights are much cleaner look. First year of the iconic "Bumble bee" stripe, and the solid, all red RS 67 taillights look better that the divided 68 taillights, and no vacuum headlight doors on RS models to get stuck. In the inside, I prefer the look of the 67 console and the 67 Deluxe doorpanels with their cool stainless trim and emblems. The 68 auto shifter is better looking though...And of course, 67 is the first year, and the very first 350 SBC debuted in the SS model. Convinced?😁
Me and my uncle are building a 68 Camaro for my first car and now that I completed high school early I’ve been working on it a lot and I’m enjoying it a lot
I am a owner of many classic cars n modern. I'm a collector. The best Camaro ever made was designed and introduced in 1967, which was the 1968 model year car. However it was designed and first rolled out in 1967. From September of 1967 to July of 1968, the '68s were made. My 1968 Camaro was made and rolled off the line in mid November of 1967. That is the best one when you factor in looks, performance and overall appeal. So to me, the 1968 Camaro was and really is a 1967 Camaro. Like I said, it was designed and first manufactured in 1967. The year prior, on June 28, 1966 the Camaro was introduced via a telephone conference call across certain states in America 🇺🇸. In September of 1966, the first 1967 Camaro was produced. The 1966 year produced the 1967 model year Camaros as the very first Camaro. I've said this since 1980, this guys late to the party, early Gen X here, I was born in 1967. Staggered Shocks Round interior gauges 3 Spoke steering wheel Round Wheel wells MADE IN '67 the '68 seals the deal ! NEXT CALLER PLEASE !!
Pretty much exactly why I have a 68 instead of 67 or 69. I do love the 69 exterior too, but I don't like the "wood" and plastic additions to the interior.
Always enjoy your videos so it was a treat to see this one especially today while I’m sick. I’m on my 5th Camaro. I might have a problem… My current obsession is a 71 Camaro which is the best year Camaro LOL
Only the '68 offers the optional thick chrome trim at low part of side window openings(pictured at 23 sec above) which make the sides of the car appear slenderer & curvier.
Great video. The 68 is my favorite, but I had a 67 that I bought used in 70 for $1700. Sold it to my sorry step brother in 72 and have regretted it ever since 😢😂
I’m the 68th comment on this post and I can in fact confirm that 68 Camaros are the best looking of the first 3 years and are slightly better all around. 😉
I had two 1967's. I like the looks of the 1968 best of the first gen Camaro's. The 68's had improvements like multi-leaf rear springs. I like the high back head rest seats in the 69. I never drove a 68, so I can't comment on the how the Astro vents worked, but the 67 windows vents worked great for a personal breeze. Did the 68 Astro vents work as good as the window vents of 67?
I get the weight/size proportions provide better performance in smaller packages but... I don't care what this dude says... the 69 looks like it's coming to take names and whoop ass... #team '69
I luv my 67 RS Camaro 327 4speed ! No side marker lights is a cleaner look , luv my vent windows ! I installed 69 seats in it , I like the head rest in case I get rear ended . 67 rules ! Nice video tho …
1963 thru 1967 Corvettes had vent windows and they are probably the most popular cars ever designed/manufactured. Same also applies to the 64 thru 66 Ford Mustangs.
It's official! '68 is the best Camaro! At least I've always thought so, for the same reasons you mentioned, and I've been around longer than Camaros have.
Me and you have the same taste! I always preferred the looks and body lines of a 67 and 68 Camaro over a 69. Later when I found out the little differences between the 67 and 68, I fell in love with the 68! My dream Camaro is a RS/SS 396 ❤
IDK about what 69 Camaro you all are looking at but My 1969 had a 3 spoke steering wheel. The horseshoe ????? Besides, a 67 and 68 Z-28 had 2 bolt mains and the 69 had 4 bolt mains
Dude. Idk why they put "Z28" stripes on all generations of Camaros. But imo, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE "68' MUSTACHE SS STRIPES". 68' is my favorite 1st gen.
'68 is better on the margin than the '67 -- but only just. '69 looks like the designers got told by management to "Do something and we don't care what." -- so they did -- inside and out. Square gauges? With a clock in the middle? Absolute deal breaker.
Delusional. For '69, the L72 and all aluminum ZL1 427 cubic inch engines were introduced. They dropped the ugly almost oval front marker lights, and placed them into the valance panel to clean up the grille. On the standard trim, the grille has an accentuated V shape and insets much deeper giving a more aggressive look. The deluxe interior also improved greatly from the 68, with more options and colors. The wider fenders flare out and have those sweet, sweet horizontal body lines, improving the side profile of the car, making it look sleeker. The body being wider is much cooler, and the mirrors stick out exactly the same amount anyways. Moving to the back, the revised tail lights are longer and blend into the body better and don't look awkward like the square 68. BTW, you've got the weight wrong in your video, with the same trim and drivetrain the 69 only adds 6lbs more... Oh and one last thing, 69 is universally known as the SEXIEST number. Of the 3 years, 68 is the LEAST desirable.
The 69 is nice too but it has those bug eyes, trash dash board, and the skinny taillights were not an improvement, even if following the outer line more. The 67-68 more rounded fenders and quarters was much nicer along with the round wheel wells. The gas cap also looked cool between the tails. Yes that steering wheel was weird. The 67 round turn signal grill looked like an afterthought and the vent windows were blah. The barless taillights weren’t as nice as the 68 either. Overall, the 68 takes it. 😉
my dad had a 68' Camaro, we have a great picture of him with it in 1978 when he was 19 years old....somehow he ended up being a Corvette guy and did some Corvette restorations so I was surprised when my mom bought him a little 1968 Camaro model thing for Xmas....later she told me it was because he always said it was the only car he ever regretted getting rid of...
Though the '67 vent windows were nice to, well, vent "stuff" we were smoking in the car, they don't look particularly appealing; the fenders on the '69's are just plain ugly to me, so yeah--give me my '68 all day long. #1 = '68. #2 = '67. #3 = Mopar....
Delusional. 67 was first, has vent windows, round front marker lights while the 68 has ugly almost oval ones, no ugly side marker lights on the 67. Tail lights are a bit nicer than the 68.
I do agree that those oval turn signals look disgusting and unbalanced, so much so, I actually went with smaller round turn signals then even what the 67 had on my 68. I understand what you are saying about the side markers, and I used to think that way too, however one really needs to analyze things completely. You know what's uglier then side markers ? Emblems on the side of your fenders. Try this first; Take off those Camaro n SS n cid badges off the damm side fenders then look how beautiful those side markers are,, it's a little bling and not so plain looking as the 67. You ever drive at night ? If you do the 68s look awesome because of those side markers, it's eye candy man ! And it's a bit safer at dawn n dusk.
The turn signals are absolutely square on the 68. And the taillights on 68 and 67 are the same more or less the 68 just has actual dividing between the two upper lights. You can literally run either style between them on taste so it’s subjective. Wing windows are just a maintenance issue in the long run and you don’t have the vent system which is much better combined becuase you get low air and upper window air you don’t get with wing window. The 67 also has little ugly round side mirrors 68 gets better square ones. And I prefer the side marker lights they give it nice look at night plus they add little shine as I eat mustangs. All this said 67-68 are the best years then 69. Goes 2-1-3 imo.
And some people feel the opposite. Wing windows -ugly. Flat tail lights - boring. Round fr signal lights and flat grill - no design. No side makers DOES look better
69 has squred off wheel wheels it just all wrong looks stupid and you have too really jack it up too get big tires under it , GM calls it a sturip shifter not a horse shoe shifter do some research lol
69 camaro is the best in my opinion, all 1st gen camaros are cool but the 69 camaro ss or even base model with that big blue bow tie on the grill is bad ass period best preformance year for camaro besides the 70 lt1 z28. I personally like all first gen firebirds and camaros, you cant go wrong with anyone of those cars, idk 69 firebird looks awesome too but the 68 has the biggest production number for firebird. And for chevy 69 camaro has the biggest.
Vent windows were AWESOME! Deflect in the air while driving. Smokers loved them! Had a few wasps deflected in while driving on the highway, actually a lot of bees and wasps over those years. .... Nasty. That was with my chevy pick ups... you could spin them all the way around.
Nothing horrible about vent windows. My first 4 cars had them and were a blessing in summer heat.
Exactly mate
As the owner of a 68 RS/SS I couldn't agree more!!! Thanks for the information!!
I like the vent windows on the 67!
Most people don't get it - but you do! 68 Camaro is the best first gen.
My 67 RS/SS convertible disagrees, wind wings are great for a breeze, and the side glass isn't floppy from not having a track to hold it in place, also no side marker lights are much cleaner look. I was sad when the wind wings ended.
I own the same, 4P conv, 4spd. Bolero red. Mom bought a '69 RS conv. new. I always thought the '68 was the ugly stepchild.
I concur, wing windows rule, you don't need A/C in drier western heat if you have a set of those wing windows. Way more CFM than interior vents.
Love all three, but 69 looks wide and mean. More muscular.
I like your style dude. Great vid.
Me and my uncle are building a 68 Camaro for my first car and now that I completed high school early I’ve been working on it a lot and I’m enjoying it a lot
My first car was 68 Camaro, loved it and the memories. Enjoy it but be safe.

Pretty much agree with all of this, except maybe the headrests.
In 68 the Camaro won 10 out of 13 races in the SCCA trans am series that record stood for over 20 years ,with mark behind the wheel
awesome awesome video bro....uplifting and fun to watch just like a 68' Camaro!
What I do like about 67/68 over 69 is the rs grill. All blacked out when the lights were off.
Pretty much exactly why I have a 68 instead of 67 or 69. I do love the 69 exterior too, but I don't like the "wood" and plastic additions to the interior.

The dash wiring harness is much simpler on a 68. Also, the 69 fuel line has a routing that puts it very close to the exhaust manifold.
I agree 68 is the best year! Not that Ive owned one for 20+ years or anything, lol.
All i knew was the finns on 69 and vent windows on 67 and 68 has a nice cleaner look did not know about fender arches.
you had it right, '68 rules !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (although vacuum headlights suck, from every possible place)
Very cool. My favorite Camaro however is still the '69 Rallye Sport.
Great video. The 68 is my favorite, but I had a 67 that I bought used in 70 for $1700. Sold it to my sorry step brother in 72 and have regretted it ever since 😢😂

We’re really comparing first gen years here? Just having a first gen Camaro is a luxury in itself.
I agree, 68 all the way!! 💪
I cannot own a muscle car without wing vents,67 by far the best looking first generation Camaro
I had two 1967's. I like the looks of the 1968 best of the first gen Camaro's. The 68's had improvements like multi-leaf rear springs. I like the high back head rest seats in the 69. I had a 68 although I like more the 69..
The lady won't even get in the car with the vent windows. It does look better without, but the vents do function nicely
69 Camaros for me, i love the body style.
Agreed,love my 68.
Absolutely agree 👍🏻
Performance still relevant today. While mustang just never gave anything beyond cool badges.
I love my 69 rs. It’s the best looking of the first gen
They made the 67 for 1 year and 68 for 1 year also 😂😂😂
I luv my 67 RS Camaro 327 4speed ! No side marker lights is a cleaner look , luv my vent windows ! I installed 69 seats in it , I like the head rest in case I get rear ended . 67 rules ! Nice video tho …
Do some videos on Firebirds please.

Vent windows are not ugly at all.
68 ❤
I'm a 68 Camaro RS owner let's go 😅
You sound like someone who was conceived in the backseat of a '73 Mustang II. Everyone knows the '67 is the greatest ever!
Me and you have the same taste!
I always preferred the looks and body lines of a 67 and 68 Camaro over a 69.
Later when I found out the little differences between the 67 and 68, I fell in love with the 68!

I love the, 68 and it's my dream car but I will admit the 69 is the best year

I knew something was haywire when you raced about the "horseshoe " shifter......🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
lady on the left was def not feeling it...damn vent windows were screwing up her pillar less coupe man!!!
All valid reasons 😆
1967 please. 292 6 swap
Agree I always loved the 68 best then the 67 , back in the days nobody liked the 69 nowadays the yahoos adore it.
😮 68 better? thems fightin words.

Nope the 69 is the sexiest fastest most badass of all camaros!
I agree! What about why the 1970 Chevelle is the best year?
70 camaro > everything else
The 67 VS the 68 is a joke there both great looking cars compared too a 69
Amen!
Im 5ft 10 180 and these cars are too small inside for me . Hard pass . I’ll take an A body

Ive had one since I was 15 so Im super biased
@@AutoGuild nothing wrong with that.
