I’ve a OO, twelve fret, slothead Atkin. It’s fantastic. Atkin bases his guitars on classic Martins and Gibsons. His guitars come aged as standard, but they will do a non aged finish if that’s what you want.
Did not see the saddle lowered .. how was the action addressed? I'm assuming this was just about the install. Touch up matched pretty well. Lot of great, small builders out there. As for repairs, mods and builders, cost can dictate outcome. " Can't always get what you want."
I played the same Martin for 30 years. I bought the first Atkin I ever played. It’s the best guitar I’ve ever played. I love Atkin so much, I bought 2 more in the following 2 months. I’ll probably get another one. Grab one before they catch on in the states and the price skyrockets.
@@vindustrialguitars they’ve went up to around $4k for the base models. I think they are the level of Collings and other boutiques that are way more. I feel lucky to have a couple dealers in my state. I haven’t played this much guitar in years.
@BulldoggerJK No thank you those two guitars are pure junk sorry. 4k and up for and bolt on neck. No thank you. That is why Martin ,Santa Cruz ,and Gibson are the best guitars on the market. DT and MT neck joints are the best, if I want a bolt on neck, or electric. I'll buy an electric guitar. My D-16 Martin eats those piece of shits up. That is a fact
Mostly the whether,it’s been rainy and damp and I’ve heard a lot of good things about poly for touch up repairs. Next time probably opt for shellac or lacquer though. Thanks for the comment.
I can do with out the antiquing of the finish. Who would drill in to the lower bout of the instrument without a pilot hole bitt and proper end pin reaming tool. Duh.... now if this is the best guitar you have ever heard . Tell me why we do not get to hear it. So this video is really all about the installation of the pick up.

Would've liked to hear you play it. Sure turned out well.
You guys are right I should’ve played it.
Great job! Keep it going!
New to me, the Atkin guitar. Looks like a Gibson model. I like the finishing work came out nice. I won't be putting a pickup in my D-18. LOL
I hear ya on that

Yeah, man! I picked up an Atkin Essential D a couple years ago and it is FANTASTIC!
Yeah, really well-built nice sound too.
Very nice job! Thanks for your video
Thanks for watching!
As Bryan Kimsey says "don't practice on your guitar" if you are drilling to fit a jack.

J45 here man. D18 has such a distinct tone, you could pick one out blindfolded. Being strummed of course. Love my j though.
Didn't know there was a 16.
Sick skills ! Fun
Thanks man!
Hey ! thats the same as my J19 ! also lefty 👌👌👌👌👌
Wonderful repair! What are you using to color?
Thanks…just leather dyes for color and shellac for a seal coat
Reminds me of a Gibson L-00
Sounds great 😂😂😂😂
Another good guitar was destroyed by a pickup.
What type and color stain did you use?
I used a dye with shellac for color
Why poly? Looked like it had an aged nitro finish to start. Why not keep the original vibe. Don't like it.

Lol
We never got to hear it. Click bate.
I know the left hand thing threw me off on this one…next time

I thought about playing it but left handed guitar 😜 you’re right I should’ve strummed a few chords or something. My bad
