Count me in as part of the megaphone for the growing plant-based movement that not only changes lives, it SAVES lives. An even greater impact is the reduction of pain and suffering experienced by the animals. Going plant-based is one of the GREATEST decisions that I ever made. Way to go PCRM!!!!!!
Walking + Plant Based Nutrition= Healthy Great story that mirrors my own minus the bariatric surgery. At 42 I was 5'9'', 300 lbs, 200/100 bp and 'pre-diabetic'. After W+PBN I am 150 lbs, normal bp with no signs of type 2.
Starting at age 42 it took about 1 year to lose 100 lbs and somewhat less than another year to lose 50 more. I am now 49 and have maintained a steady weight between 150-155 for 5+ years. :)
Alex Kramer That far more impressive! Losing 150 is a surgical like result. However, on UA-cam nearly all those 100lbs lost in a year guys gain it back just like all of us who’ve lost 30 and regained over and over. I think vegan and walking are perhaps a combination that could aid sustaining weight loss better because you don’t get hurt and have downtime and don’t make yourself hungry doing overly intense exercise. And then you have the anti inflammatory effect of vegan diet. I’ve just started trying low-fat vegan because I tend to eat a lot of oils and fat containing food. Would LOVE to have you type out your story if you have the time. Sustaining huge weight loss over 5yrs puts you in the .0001% of overweight folks. Start with what prompted you to start, how you got stared both walking and eating, any bumps along the way, how you overcame the bumps, what daily habits did you employ to stay on track, did you use visualization at all, and of course did you have to count calories track foods etc? Did you basically have to avoid restaurants since they always have fat or other things? You get the picture. And of course, i assume you’ve written it down before because this is a really remarkable result as you know- so feel free to copy and past something you’ve written before to save time. I’d really appreciate it as would many many others!
I agree with you. I just wish Chuck didn’t have the surgery. I was 300 pounds two years ago and I am 220 now. Am going more plant based now so I am expecting to lose another 75 pounds in the next year. All without a surgery that changes your body for the rest of your life.
Good on you Chuck! I was in a lot of chronic pain, lots of medications, and my small 5 foot frame went up to 95 kilos. I had the gastric sleeve surgery and lost 19 kilos, and that’s where it stopped. Then I began educating myself about nutrition and different diets. I was on a ketogenic diet and lost another 16 kilos. I then went off all the medications and was totally pissed off because the pain was still there. More education and I came across the whole food plant based diet and within 4 weeks the pain was gone. I was overjoyed. That was 8 months ago and I haven’t looked back. Pirkko from Queensland Australia
More or less the same story. My highest weight was when I was diagnosed with diabetes at 382 lbs, also 5'6. I had to lose 10% of my weight in 6 months to be accepted for weight loss surgery, I lost 75 lbs. I had my surgery 8 months ago and have lost a further 85 lbs. still losing 6-8 lbs a month. When I had my surgery I decided that I was going to do things differently, I was not going back to eating processed junk food, I was determined to change my diet what I didn't know was that as a result of the surgery I would not be able to tolerate meat, so I became a vegetarian. A few months later, with education I decided to become fully plant based. Have been vegan for 2 months now and I love how much energy I have. Like Chuck I decided that I wasn't going the gym route. I walk with my dog on the beach 3-4 times a week for 4 miles and for a minimum of 30 minutes on other days. I remember when I started this, I used to walk for 5 minutes then would have a rest and walk back for another 5 minutes. That was 3 years ago. Today at 59 I feel better, more energetic and healthier than I was in my thirties.
Well done, make sure you keep youre minerals up, as not taking in the raw food , can leave mag and critical minerals low, keep going man, I'm on a similar journey
I am one of those failed bariatric surgery! I gained back all the weight and then some. Over 300 lbs. Been on the WFPB diet for 18 months have lost 62 pounds thus far but this is the first time that I ever have felt in control of my food. And I feel so much better. Had not heard of this way of eating before! I don’t know where I have been! Still having issues with my body but I now have hope.

Thank you for sharing your story Chuck! It’s because of the media influencers like you, I switched to a plant based diet and am down almost 100 lbs. health is the best thing I’ve ever felt!
Thank you Chuck and Dr. Barnard. I started the "plant based diet" and I feel "wonderful"!! I'm also doing "water-fasting" too, this is the best thing (besides becoming a Christian) that has EVER happened to me. THANKS, THANKS, THANKS so much for this web site, BEST INFORMATION OUT HERE!!!!
Your story is inspirational whether you're overweight and trying to loose weight or not. It is the mental strength that one needs to get to their ends that can inspire ANYONE!!!!
Your story is fascinating Chuck.. I sent your video to my son... he eats meat 🥩 and steak and he’s convinced that is the best diet.. plus he is overweight..lots of excess weight around his stomach..I hope he watches this video.. I was 60 pounds overweight for about 12 years and I lost my weight by eating fruit 🍉 during the day.. then after work I would eat one serving... then shortly after that I went vegetarian...it’s been since 1985 and I have never regained any weight.. I love exercise.. 5-6 miles of speed walk around the lake.. I’m 72 so I’m at a good weight...
Chuck, you are an true inspiration. I am so grateful for your positive energy and commentary. Your enthusiasm is so transparent. Thank you for sharing your story and hosting a wonderful show!
All the work the Physicians Committee does is what’s going to bring about change. I’m so grateful and appreciative for the hard work and efforts. Thank you
Thanks for sharing Chuck, you are amazing, and I am so encouraged by your story. For me, at 79, 240 lbs, I want to lose 100 lbs. Am not working on all thrusters as I have lost parts of me, but with the help Dr. Barnard is giving I feel sure I can. Please keep giving us more, the 96-97 yr old lady interview was fantastic. God bless.
Brilliant interview. You have a very inspiring story Chuck. Amazingly inspirational. I feel inspired to maintain my 60lb weight loss which I did through following a plant based diet, walking and intermittent fasting. I was over 210 bs beginning of January 2020 and now I’m 147lbs. Keep up the excellent work 🙏🙏👍👍
congratulations i am so happy for you. you saved your life and got your life back. i've been vegan 10 yrs and was vegetarian 25 yrs before that. live vegan and prosper!
Thanks you so much for this story. Thank you Dr Bernard for giving the world this important information. I am from Germany. I am 46 years old. I am suffering from seriously high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I am not overweight, but I ate a lot of meat, processed meat and dairy products..My blood pressure was so out of control I had to go to the hospital. No physical reason found. I now take 3 pills for high blood pressure and one for cholesterol. Since 2 weeks I went vegan. The medication also helps me. I am hoping that I can become more healthy again. Hopefully use less medication one day. Thank you for the inspiration.
Chuck, Thank you for sharing your story. I've never had a problem with weight, but my terrible eating habits have caused other issues. I have been vegetarian for 2 months and feeling better each and every day and am heading toward vegan. Thanks again and I love your story and your show!
I totally get what you said Chuck! At my heaviest,450 Now 409 and dropping. I went back to the national powder shake drink mix diet and it's ok. Then I researched Joe Cross's "Sick, Fat and Nearly dead" again and broke out my juicer from the mothballs. I still want to eat something, but keep it healthy. While googling healthy food, one of these videos came up and something Dr Barnard said had me looking into going Vegan. At least my doctor is onboard with this method.
I was so thrilled to hear this episode on the fact, you are what you eat and you changed the trajectory of your life! It changed my life as well. Thank you for sharing 🌺
I didn't know how Chuck lost his weight, only heard "weight loss champion" as he says. Wow, a great story. The most amazing thing is that his skin looks tight, no-one would ever know he was ever that overweight if they just saw him for the first time, not knowing his story. Yeah, our body has truly amazing plasticity. This inspires me to push and keep going. Thank you!
You’re amazing, Chuck! Beautiful, how you succeeded from such a difficult goal.. I was 280 pounds ( and 6’1”) at age 23 and lost 90 pounds during graduate school. I have gone up and down a few times since then, but never got that big again. Finally, in my 60s, I am now a healthy vegan for 7 years now, and have maintained a healthy weight for the last six years, determined to never gain the weight back.. The. vegan diet is so much easier. Congratulations to you. You look great!
Chef AJ and/or The whole food plant based cooking show will give you a lot of inspiration on how you can eat proper vegan meals and feel satiated. After 5-7 days the cravings for junk food subside. Good luck on your new life-style.
It’s difficult to imagine the host carrying all that weight. And what he says about weight loss surgery is spot on. I’m a registered nurse and have had patients who have had the procedure. While many have lost weight not one has reached his or her goal. Some have gained most or all of it back and most feel unwell. They believe the surgery should be sufficient, blame genetics, and can’t imagine changing their diet. I’m not blaming them at all. That’s the information they received from the doctors who should know better. Sadly most health care professionals are subject to the same “common knowledge” as the rest of us.
I would like to know if anyone who has lost weight experiences what's called "phantom fat". It's where you still see yourself as fat. Like your mind has not caught up to your body reality. The fat self image is deep in the mind. I didn't realize I had lost so much weight (not anywhere near how much you did, but still a lot for me) until I went shopping for new clothes. I hadn't been shopping in years. I kept getting the bigger sizes and then it clicked that they didn't fit anymore. So I had to find new clothes! It also clicked when I saw a comparison photo of myself. Like two different people !
My friend has this and it’s been almost a full year since she has lost 100lbs. We recently went shopping and I picked the clothes for her to try on. She was picking 18-20 when in actuality she needed 9-10. She does not see her new shape at all. I don’t know how long it will take but I pray for her. She still gets depressed sometimes thinking she is still big.
Just converted that, wow! 265lb is 19 stone. The heaviest I've ever been is 16st 7lb (231 lb) and I'm 6'1". You lost more than my entireity in weight! Respect!
I had just come apon your channel and saw you were interviewing Dr. Bernard! Congrats on your weight loss!!! I understand how hard it is! I changed to a vegan diet after watching Dr. Bernard's conferences about vegan diets and its benefits. That video changed my life!! I'm seriously on my journey for a healthy life style and I've never had more energy and felt so incredible in my life going plant based!! I was a meat and dairy kind of GAL. LOL Thanks for your videos Chuck!!
Its truly an amazing story - so good that you succeded in changing your life so radically - and you look so healthy a great role model that radical change is possible -
I think with all the social pressures we all face from friends and family who think they understand a "healthy diet" and to them "healthy" means: cheese, yogurt, dairy, everything and anything in the meat aisle: fish, chicken, turkey, pork, beet --- but oh, God in heaven, save me from SOY MILK! I can feel those man-boobs plumping up just thinking about those bad soy beans and all the bad carbs out there! -- we ourselves can cave -- we can have days when our resolve is not up to the challenge. We were just as brainwashed and for all the years of all the bad info, it takes us time to reprogram ourselves and our taste buds in order to eat what is good for us. Have to watch an hour or so of Plant-Based discussions to keep myself motivated.
On the tv show "My 600-lb Life" they always put the blame on carbs. The 2 morbidly obese Assanti brothers love pizza and pasta in giant portions, and I guess people assume those are the carbs doing the damage, when both pasta and pizza are piled high with cheese, meatballs or pepperoni. And the show doesn't even bother to tell the difference between simple and complex carbs. Dr. Now and the nutritionists he sends to help patients, all refer to protein as meat, as if plants don't have them.
The elephant in the room with all that food is the fat not the carbs. They pander to stupidity and succeed thanks to humans. Big brains dumbest species on earth.
Qudos to Chuck! I had no idea, I’ve always admired his interview style (if not the “man-bun” he sports now!😂) but I didn’t know he’d turned his whole life around! Way to go buddy! 🌱 Excellent!
thank you for sharing your story Chuck - so clearly, directly too! It's super helpful - just seeing it through your eyes - the thoughts, the actions, etc. It leads to an immersive understanding where I can feel and understand what happened and why - so that I (and others) don't get trapped!
Facts I was addicted to sugary snacks and food when I drank coffee I would put cow's milk and processed white sugar which gave way to a host of health issues yes sirrrr
Totally! It should be treated like alcohol and drug addiction. I had my husband lock the kitchen door from me in the evenings. After 1 week the uncontrollable urges subsided 🙏 I don't eat animal products, no alcohol, no coffee and now....no sugar or manufactured foods, with a List of ingredients. 😁✌💚🔆🌷
A lot of folks think that addiction is addiction is addiction. This just isn’t so, an alcoholic is different than a junkie. Food addiction is very debatable but I agree with this great message.
I don't believe it's debatable with reputable researchers and physicians! I love the name PCRM! It's only being a resonsible person to promote a vegan diet.
thanks for all the great content. i find myself wanting to get pizza often and i know the more i watch videos like this the more motivated I'll stay. helps to have all these videos
Great job you did Chuck on the weight loss you achieved. I am really enjoying Fast Nordic Walking and the Vegan lifestyle as I greatly improve my health and fitness. Humans are made to thrive on the Vegan plant based diet.
That is mostly what I did ! Walked outside fresh air through the Neighborhood with some good music. When I came home I did about a half an hour of calisthenics nothing major. I was losing fat pretty good rate and I was knocking myself out working out just easy power walk

Incredible story
Thanks for your story Chuck.
Thank you so much . I really need this as an inspiration. South Africa.
Mine was when I bought a pair of jeans with a 25 inch waist,I realised I was slim again !.Congratulations on your weight loss.
@@jennis4647 it’s the fat between your ears that’s soooo treacherous!!!!
Wow! You look great! Best of all you seem like a great person. Keep it up guys!
Amazing story. Thanks for sharing.
Just converted that, wow! 265lb is 19 stone. The heaviest I've ever been is 16st 7lb (231 lb) and I'm 6'1". You lost more than my entireity in weight! Respect!
Thank you for this free education.
I just get so emotional hearing your story

What an amazing video! Great, powerful life story, encouraging, empowering, hypnotic, thank you for sharing
So glad I found this. I’ve never heard your story
Well done Chuck! You did it man! And of course you are sitting with the hero Dr Bernard!
Wow 420 pounds (190kg) the Australian heart foundation bmi calculator stops at 150kg or330 lbs. great job on your change🌱👍
BMI calculator? Why not use a normal simple calculator? weight divided by the high 2 times: m/h/h
190kg and 1.8m would result in a BMI of 58.6 kg/m2, which is extremely heavy.
Before 1980, scales only went to 300
Its truly an amazing story - so good that you succeded in changing your life so radically - and you look so healthy a great role model that radical change is possible -
I think with all the social pressures we all face from friends and family who think they understand a "healthy diet" and to them "healthy" means: cheese, yogurt, dairy, everything and anything in the meat aisle: fish, chicken, turkey, pork, beet --- but oh, God in heaven, save me from SOY MILK!
You're amazingly inspirational!❤
On the tv show "My 600-lb Life" they always put the blame on carbs. The 2 morbidly obese Assanti brothers love pizza and pasta in giant portions, and I guess people assume those are the carbs doing the damage, when both pasta and pizza are piled high with cheese, meatballs or pepperoni. And the show doesn't even bother to tell the difference between simple and complex carbs. Dr. Now and the nutritionists he sends to help patients, all refer to protein as meat, as if plants don't have them.
So sad
Might be interesting if the Physician’s Committee proposed running one of the episodes of “My 600 lb Life” and see what happens.
The randle cycle is what works
The elephant in the room with all that food is the fat not the carbs. They pander to stupidity and succeed thanks to humans. Big brains dumbest species on earth.
Yes those are the two current lies.
Great video!
I love your hair Chuck! You look younger and very handsome
Bless you Chuck. Thanks.
FOOD ADDICTION IS REAL!!!!
After 1 week the uncontrollable urges subsided 🙏
I don't eat animal products, no alcohol, no coffee and now....no sugar or manufactured foods, with a List of ingredients. 😁✌💚🔆🌷
Thank you for sharing.
Chuck can you talk about nuts, seeds and nut butters
A lot of folks think that addiction is addiction is addiction. This just isn’t so, an alcoholic is different than a junkie. Food addiction is very debatable but I agree with this great message.
I don't believe it's debatable with reputable researchers and physicians! I love the name PCRM! It's only being a resonsible person to promote a vegan diet.
That is so incredible...
Congratulations!!!
Thanx for this channel!
Inspirational Chuck🙏
thanks for all the great content. i find myself wanting to get pizza often and i know the more i watch videos like this the more motivated I'll stay. helps to have all these videos
Fantastic story!❤️🙏
Wow Chuck. You are an inspiration.
Great job you did Chuck on the weight loss you achieved. I am really enjoying Fast Nordic Walking and the Vegan lifestyle as I greatly improve my health and fitness.
Humans are made to thrive on the Vegan plant based diet.
Amazing story thumbs up!
Chuck! You da man!!!
So handsome Dr. Barnard. Plant power!!
Yes, there are withdrawals to cutting back on over eating and the stomach muscle contractions are real too.
Another victory for Big Asparagus!
Awesome achievement! Such an inspiration. I enjoy all of your presentations. Thank you for helping to educate all of us in the vegan journey.
That is mostly what I did ! Walked outside fresh air through the Neighborhood with some good music. When I came home I did about a half an hour of calisthenics nothing major. I was losing fat pretty good rate and I was knocking myself out working out just easy power walk
It's very important that everyone helps any way they can. At work, your boss did something very good!
