The Best zone in Outland, as far as it concerns me. From green lushes, through abrupt mountains with dead dragons in their spikes, an ogre guarded battle arena, evil cultists and cenarions, all the way to Ogri'la Plateau and Burning Legion Forge Camps. It was not for the weak. It was Epic. Thank you Blizzard for such extraordinary memories.
Matt Uelmen is a living legend. I really thought I left youtube open in the background and some Diablo music started playing when I went into Blade's Edge Mountains the first time. it made me almost scared, I had never been there before and was not sure what to expect
What sticks out most for me here was getting a group together to do the questline where you kill all those gronn to open up the Ogri'la faction. Not to mention all the times I did those dailies, getting groups for killing those elite guys in that area and watching other players do that legion gate thing where you're in control of those 3 demons. And I also remember how annoying it was doing that quest to get that key that let you do that extra boss in Mana Tombs. Plus as a Horde player it was so cool to see Rexxar and the Mok'nathal here.
this was such a mystic zone for me, I remember questing in zangramarsh and seeing the spikes rising unbelivible heigths, but I never quested there, and Im glad I never did cause this is pretty much the only place in wow where I can fly trough and found myself on a place I have never been before
WoD just doesn't feel magical like this, I think BC is and will forever be the best WoW expac there ever will be. Glad I got to enjoy it when I was young and had free time.
It never was. It was a disaster for many playing it before. TBC is considered best because most people joined the game during this time. It sure brought lots of new ideas but all in all was game breaker for many people. Plastic space goats time and camp belfs. Absolutely ridiculous colourful armours and outlandish (nomen omen) areas. There were few nice moments like Nagrand or like heroic instances. Funny we also hated the raids in TBC till BT and nowadays I remember those raids actually quite well. Opening the gate to Vashj or chaos of first fight in Gruuls Lair. Still not better than trashless almost BWL with its epic fights. "worthess wretch! your firends will join you soon enough!"
uelmen made music for diablo and some of it never got into the game, it did end up in wow in parts.. like the very bombastic part u hear playing when u cross dark portal to hellfire peninsula, this is part of euelmen's diablo track that didnt make the cut into actual diablo game
The music is what made The Burning Crusade so magical. The grim, dreamy Diablo-esque droning of Outland matched the planet perfectly. The constant orchestral circlejerk that has plagued everything since MoP may appeal to the kiddos out there, but the magic was lost... RIP WoW.
This zone always felt like a mishmash of "i-don't-know-what's-the-core-theme-of-this-place". One moment you're fighting spiders, the next arakkoa, then ogres and the one after that ethereals. Kinda like if the developers thought that 7 zones were good enough and threw all the leftover ideas here. I like the sountrack here, specially the track that plays south of the horde camp (7:29). You can instantly tell just by listening to that particular track that TBC soundtrack was made by the composer that made Diablo II's.
It just shows the state of blade's edge, as being torn apart. Different groups without any connection illustrate the diverse emptiness of this region. It is more like coming to a region that has gone through a lot, at the very end of its historic relevance. So, actually, the designers created this as not a melting pot or the like, but rather a vast diaspora.
Can't remember how many times the fel cannons shot me down but it was often...the Simon says daily (BRRYGBBYYG...NOPE...ZAP THAT HURT) and that damnable Quel Da'nas ethereal daily in the spirit world... Great times!
I always thought this zone was the prettiest because of the sky and areas of this zone... also circle of blood was so fun :P My favorite is Netherstorm then Shadowmoon valley... This zone is 3rd
I loved this zone much more than Terrorar and Nagrand back there. Much more confined quests hubs, overall not so endless chore kill quests like in Nagrand. Fucking Rexxar was there, after his 4 years stroll in Feralas and Desolance.
I thought this place was boring even with those dailies. (or especially depending on how you look at it.) The only reason I went there was to farm Gruul, passing through with my transporter, and farming the repair bot schematic.
Yeah, I agree. There were quests to do here, but I skipped this zone while levelling since you could go straight to Netherstorm after finishing Nagrand.
HacksignKT Yeah, I did all hellfire, then to zangarmarsh, rarely terokkar forest. As soon as I could I would go Nagrand, then I'd go Netherstorm. Ding.
nowheretoday i love this zone. i am one of the few who looks forward to it. i like the solitude of it and feeling like it has all of these hidden secrets. the green havens make me feel like i am in real mountains. reminds me of trips to western maryland camping i've taken, so it's unique to everyone. my favorite quest is the chain that starts when that orb drops from the grishnath for raven's wood where you cleanse the treants of their possession and they become "neutral" to you. that is a special quest where you actually SEE results that are permanent. i also like "from the ashes" even composed a song named after it. the area with the fire elementals and imps where you plant tree seeds and watch them grow and the other quest that requires you to kill 8 imps. point is there are a lot of neat quests in this zone. some which are more involved than others, but that's what makes it true RPG.
The latter half of the track really reminds me of Diablo 2. It's such a shame that Matt Uelmen left Blizzard after TBC. His style was great.
If you're a dragon, you do not like this zone.

This and Shadowmoon Valley were my favorite zones in Outland

7:30 one of the best music in the game

Legion doesn't have that magical feel either. It's just a bunch of recycled areas and especially the *music*.
muh nostalgia
Storywise BC didn't amount to much, WoTLK, however was the best expansion from the story point of view.
Tbc was easily the best expansion
The reason I always fly to Blade's Edge
as an oldschool tomb raider, spikes meant instant death for me. When I first flew close to them I was so afraid.
@8:00 that Diablo-esque guitar.

OHHH IT WAS!? Blade's Edge and Terokkar always gave me such Diablo vibes, now I finally understand why lol!

this zone reminds me of Samurai Jack
Blade's Edge Mountains were just scary. Loved it.
Missing TBC good old days!
Best zone in the game, hands down.
3:15 epic

@ 0:30.....so fucking epic

I 'member being very fucking stuck on my quest achievement. But also the Ogri'la daylies, which I enjoyed a lot for some reason.
still gotta say that 7:32 onwards it sounds like a diablo 2 soundtrack
I thought this place was boring even with those dailies. (or especially depending on how you look at it.)

Love 7:31 onwards.
Gruul will crush your tank if you dont kill him in time.
This music is epic! Too bad the questing in this zone never lived up to it.
Marcus Aurelius You've gotta be kidding.
You're right, I am.
See, now this is music and ambience, not that stuff BfA has released.
My goodness, we need the original composers back for the next expansion.
7:30
:'(
This area was pretty useless, I don't remember doing much stuff here besides raids and farming engineering schemes.
Yeah, I agree. There were quests to do here, but I skipped this zone while levelling since you could go straight to Netherstorm after finishing Nagrand.
*****
For me it was Terokkar Forest and Nagrand till 66, then instances till 68 then Shadowmoon and Netherstorm (MASTER RACE) leveling.
HacksignKT Yeah, I did all hellfire, then to zangarmarsh, rarely terokkar forest. As soon as I could I would go Nagrand, then I'd go Netherstorm. Ding.

A good zone to level on a pvp server since you could just focus on leveling
probably one of my worst zones, I like the design, but there's something about it I cannot stand.
