IGN has been dead to me for a while already, thanks to the greats like jim sterling, yongyea, and a few other seriously stand-up gaming journalists with actual ethics. It's all about trust.
I couldn't stand seeing people bullying and abusing other co- workers. They think they could do anything they want, and expect to be no consequences. They thought wrong theres always consequences. I also don't like it where their bosses use them as human shields. Just to save themselves from their fuckups. Love you Yong see you next time.
Kailee also called out Peer Schneider, who is still at IGN. He was in a position to help, but he chose not to in order to secure his career. Complete scumbag.
I wonder about the circumstances. If he has any dependents, he might have done it because the consequences would affect more people than just him. He might also not have been financially secured if he was fired over it. Its may also be that he only cared about his career and is indeed self serving.
@@notoriousbig3k : In a company you serve your own purposes, and if the company's needs are incompatible with that _then you find a different job._ You _might_ play along for a while to find that next job, but that is not serving the _company's_ purposes, but instead _your own._ And if it's a common problem, you see if it's useful for you to start poaching _other_ employees there to your new employer as well. Doing otherwise leads to psychological isolation of the managers.
@jose ramiro reynoso ruiz Re-read what was written bud. It seems to have flown over and an ad hominem too? Attack the argument bud. That statement was not written towards the employees. The statement was made pointing towards IGN as a business. When someone criticises a business take McDonalds they are not making it towards every staff member, more of a general to what McDonalds is or what it stands for. In this case, IGN is a sub-par company that has poor production value. Take their plagiarism incidents that happened awhile back, unnoticed until the public noticed or their writers who think the video games they play are too hard on "easy mode" when they don't normally play video games. Feel free to defend them some more
Remember, everyone: Most personality disorders are easily manageable in most job settings. But Narcissistic Personality Disorder? It only takes one Narc per 50 employees to topple a business- fewer, if the Narcs are in managerial positions. Speak out about NPD. Work to protect yourself and everyone around you from narcissistic abuse. Learn the warning signs. Set firm, reasonable boundaries. And no matter what, so long as you can help it, never *ever* let a Narc into any position of power.
We don’t know if these two assholes have NPD. And you’re wrong, NPD can also be managed. My best friend has NPD and she’s been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. They are not all evil or plotting world domination. They have variable self esteem and need outside help to maintain. They are incapable of making themselves feel better about themselves because of the intense child abuse they endured. It’s like a balloon where you need to inflate every so often to maintain. That’s it. Dominance is a human trait. People are greedy and always want more. People are always willing to justify their actions or compromise their integrity in exchange “more.”
@@SaraphDarklaw : Abusing someone verbaly until they cry and then rushing to comfort ( and silence ) them, is one of the warning signs, for dealing with an Covert Narcissist. Well, your friend is an exception, because most Narcisstist don`t feel, that their abusive behavior is wrong. Most only fake remorse, so they can continue with their manipulation and mindgames. They don´t stop, as long as they aren`t getting hit with consequences. And not all cases steam from childhood-abuse. My boss had a very happy childhood and he still became/is an abusive person, because he was spoiled and nobody ever said "NO" to him, due to his cultural upbringing. ( turkish and muslim ) .
I agree that unmanaged narcissism is a bad (and all too common) problem, but it's not responsible to diagnose people with a personality disorder unless you're 1) a doctor and 2) working with the person(s) you're talking about. It's unethical on it's own but especially when it just sounds like they could be regular assholes. And as someone else said, NPD can absolutely be managed. Narcissism can ruin families and hurt people deeply, but it's not fair to act as if people with NPD are inherently evil when there are proven methods for treating it. Shaming and prejudice is NOT one of them. And this is coming from someone who has been abused by a narcissist for years. Please, for the sake of victims of abuse AND those who suffer with NPD, stop talking about it in these terms. It helps nobody.
LMAO who would have thought that someone with the last name "Butts" would make a true ass outta themselves. I betcha he always gets the "butt" end of the deal at IGN. No ifs, and, or "butts". Okay. I'll stop. lol But you gotta gimme credit. The opportunity was right there and was too hard to resist.
This happens pretty much everywhere and every industry.......... corporates with buttloads of money can do whatever they want, when they want it, the lower staffs can't do anything other than quitting the job, and they will still do nothing because people still want to go work there........... There needs to be a change
Oplawlz And yet we all know that this type of abusive systems mainly exist in a capitalist environments. In Europe we have laws protecting the workers from abusive treatments from their bosses. That doesn't mean it never happens but it's really rare and always ends up bad for the higher ups so now, they are very careful about it and even tend to be more "human". So yeah, capitalism ruin working environments in the name of always more profits.
Nautdead You and me both man, I have bad souvenirs of magazines for giving bad marks to rpgs that were actually awesome, that's when I knew something was weird.
@@nautdead3197 I mean, at least back then they actually played video games and enjoyed doing so, they weren't bitching about politics. They started going full cancer once the PS4 and Xbone launched. Nowdays all these outlets do is antagonize the consumers, celebrate censorship and live off rage clicks.
The Round Well to be fair, the end started long before that story, around the time when there were stories of plagiarism from youtube critics I believe or even before that when there were actual proof that gaming websites journalists had priveledges from gaming companies in exchange of positive critics for their products (helicopter tours, luxurious restaurants and hotel rooms, exclusive gifts and so on).
an important lesson here: If your boss asks you to do something that you know it will damage your reputation and you can't say no because they will fire you, ask for an e-mail where they declare what they want you to do, because if the shit hits the fan, you have proof to protect yourself.
@@SuperAvocadoo Then Yong shouldn't review video games and put them on his channel if he's gonna cherry pick bad games to review and put on his channel if he's afraid of that happening. Plus, when it comes to video games, Yong likely burned a ton of voice acting opportunities due to how much he shits on companies like EA, Activision, Bethesda, and Ubisoft. Besides, voice acting isn't limited to video games, there's anime, cartoons / animated series, or even just being the voice for a CGI character like Bradley Cooper does with Rocket Raccoon in the MCU.
It’s almost like as a whole, these employees that felt some sort of way about their employer should have stood up and fucking done something, not allowed the abuse to continue and come out about it after the fact

IGN has been dead to me for a while already, thanks to the greats like jim sterling, yongyea, and a few other seriously stand-up gaming journalists with actual ethics.
It's all about trust.
Jim is a Smelly Marshmallow
Pure Heroin Still Better than the Writers at IGN and Gamespot
my favorite currently has to be Gaymen Laming.
Remove Jim Sterling from that list and you and I will be friends.

Feel free to defend them some more
@@TheN.C.R.Ranger Ok, refute the claim.
That is just messed up.
