My wife and I were pals for 30 years. Then suddenly, we realized we were in love. I sang this song to her in a room full of strangers. They applauded and she burst into tears...and giggled out loud. At the same time. We've now been married for almost 21 years. Thanks, Old Blue Eyes! And thanks to Rogers and Hart. And thanks to YOU!
I also like the zipper song, very catchy and entertaining, wasnt a fan of Rita Hayworth and she had a singing voice over so although she had the moves and seduced frank, she didn't sing a notex
...Sinatra had one of the most flexible voices one could think of...there's is not a single moment in which he's looses the feeling for the rhythm...and he never shout - never! an idol for all jazz singer in the world!
Sinatra was not a jazz singer. He emulated lester young and Billie Holidays approach with measured phrasing behind the beat. That said. Brilliant and can listen to all three all day long.
Thank you so much for posting. If they asked me I could write a book About the way you walk, and whisper and look I could write the preface on how we met So the world would never forget And the simple secret of the plot Is just to tell them that I love you a lot Then the world discovers as my book ends How to make two lovers of friends
The wonderful Voice and wonderful Kim, one of the most beautiful, sophisticated, sexy, attractive and enigmatic actresses. Great actress too. The Golden Age of Hollywood. After this time, some good and entertaining movies have been made but none like the old movies. And some directors, actors have dared to remake unrepeatable, unique movies of the past!!!. Rubbish of course... The past actors, actresses were STARS and all of them different. Even the supporting actors were fantastic and different. Marvelous directors, original and great stories, plots. No obscenity. The current people who succeed now are all the same, faces, etc... There are exceptions of course but just a few in my opinion. And now, anyone!! has a star in the Walk of Fame. A pity. Today a Spanish "singer" (well, they call him singer. No voice and the little he has is horrible!!!, no taste, horrible "songs, music, lyrics ") has been given a star on the Walk!!. I don't recommend you to listen to any of their shouts if you don't want to throw the radio, the record, video... through the window. We live in the world, in the age of mediocrity. Penelope Cruz has another star. Please. The only thing I see in this "actress" is her great taste choosing her clothes. She dresses wonderfully... This is the only virtue I see in her. Despite this she is a goddess in comparison with the unpresentable/disgraceful/inept I named before. But this is my opinion of course. Many years ago, there were also some very good actors, movies and directors in Spain, but now... You try to watch any movie and suddenly a snot appears and you cannot understand what he says, because he doesn't know how to play, how to modulate his voice, so he speaks so low that it is impossible to listen to what he is saying, which on the other hand turns out to be a relief!.
..its up to "todays" ladies to inspire fashion. The dress Ms Novak wears, and how it exactly fits her body, seen here, makes the dress impressive. It hangs/drapes on her body rather than holding it in. Wait...this was supposed to be about the song....
Vavavavoom with that gown and gloves! They just don’t dress like ladies anymore. And they don’t make gowns like this anymore. No glam movies are made anymore. 😢😢
They just don't make movies the way they used to anymore! What an amazing time to be a performer- so many of them were multitalented- double or even triple threats.
Kim Novak was Absolutely the most beautifulest Actress that ever was. She is Classy,Elegant,Alluring and Softly Sexy. She went on tour of a movie studio with a friend and got discovered. Fairy tale dream come true. She is 87 and still looks good!!!
Definitely one of my favourite songs from the film. No, they just don't make them like this anymore. Love this film, Frank, Rita and Kim, what more could we ask for!
I too had the great thrill of seeing Frank perform in Las Vegas, near to the end of his stellar career, but it is still one of the best performances I have ever seen, in the first three minutes he had the audience eating out of his hand. What a star!
Movies like this are simply timeless, not to be taken too seriously, just pure escapism and with Franks voice and the sheer stunning beauty of Kim Novak how could this film fail.
Kim Novak has such a wonderfully subdued, one-of-a-kind screen presence. I just did a tribute video to her on my channel, using clips from key Novak movie classics, if anyone would like to check it out.
Years ago, a budding romance of mine with a great guy (or so I thought) came to an abrupt end, and I immediately showed him the door. You know what he said? "I can take or leave Sinatra." Imagine. Later for you, jack.
Juan Bernardo Irigoyen I looked at your channel and found out you live in Buenos Aires. I love UA-cam for this. People from all over the world can meet and speak to each other. Anyhow, greetings to you too Juan (from the Bronx (NY)
No, he dumps Rita Hayworth for Kim Novak. In the play, the Joey character goes off with the older woman so the movie changed the ending. Either way, Sinatra was going to win no matter if he ended up with Novak or Hayworth.
It is not only the song which is not heard often enough. When was the last time they showed this fabulous film on TV? Yet the TV channels can show trash films as many as three or four times a year.
I love Ella too. I grew up with the Dinah Washington version. Another good one plus a bunch of great musicians backing her up.. I found it on youtube. It was good to hear again.
So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for letting me know how much. Made my day! I heard an interview where Sinatra said the part he played in Pal Joey was either his favorite or one of his favorite movie roles so he would agree with you.
Que puedo agregar sobre Sinatra que no lo hallAn dicho. Solo puedo decir que desde muy joven me ayudaba a sobrellevar momentos difíciles y me levantaba el ánimo escuchándolo.
I never understood why Rogers and Hammerstein were so chocolate boxy - when compared to Rogers and Hart. Usually you would expect a progression rather than a digression but the earlier stuff in my opinion is much more sophisticated than the later material like South Pacific. It must have been that Hart's lyrics were more thoughtful and hip and effected the music's composer accordingly.
You're "preachin' to the choir" Jack:) My Funny Valentine, Lover, My Romance, Little Girl Blue, This Can't be Love, I Wish I Were in Love Again, ...in a class of their own.
As a P.S. I forgot to mention: "The Lady is a Tramp", another witty and well crafted Hart offering that needs a bit of thought in order to understand since people often think of the words as an insult (even in the scene in this very movie it appears that was too) when, in fact, it is a compliment. To me, it's an anthem to fearlessly living a free, unhypocritical, and unconventional life... things that are sometimes met with hostility by this world (aka: "She's a tramp!")
somefavs Yes I do get the early liberated viewpoint of this song - in fact I've played it quite a few times - however I think it was meant to upset Rita Hayworth's character whilst simultaneously acknowledging her right to be a free wheeling individual which would have dawned on her after she left the club and I think that was Joey's intention as manipulation was his thing. Convoluted but believable I think.
I am paraphrasing here. I think the late, great cabaret singer Mary Cleere Haran said that Rodgers and Hammerstein taught us how we should feel, whereas Rodgers and Hart showed us how we do feel.
This was the first time I saw Sinatra as a kid in'57. I thought he was the coolest guy I'd ever seen. Went out and bought all those great Capitol LPs of that era.
Rob Lewis Oh yeah. I totally get that. My Dad was a huge fan so, I grew up with those albums like: "Songs for Young Lovers", "Songs for Swinging Lovers" etc. In my opinion, some of his best work was done in the Capitol years with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra backing him.
Anyone notice that Kim Novak starts out the number a little taller than Sinatra, but ends up a little shorter. Old blue eyes was only 5'8. Regardless, love this movie.

Wow. What a story! I could imagine Johnny Carson having you both on the old Tonight show telling that one. Blessings!
She was my dream actress during my youth. She had class!
I also like the zipper song, very catchy and entertaining, wasnt a fan of Rita Hayworth and she had a singing voice over so although she had the moves and seduced frank, she didn't sing a notex
There are some great songs in the movie, “Pal Joey”. Frank sings so well.
Me too. Used to watch these movies with my Dad...an avid music (and Sinatra) lover. Glad you enjoyed it.
...Sinatra had one of the most flexible voices one could think of...there's is not a single moment in which he's looses the feeling for the rhythm...and he never shout - never! an idol for all jazz singer in the world!

Yeah, by Rogers and Hart. They wrote some great tunes.
Novac is sultry pretty young. And then there's Rita. Fabulous beyond words.
HEAVEN IN A VOICE , WOW !
I love Kim Novaks' dress ....especially the way she makes the fringe move when Frank spins her around!!
A great song -- one of the 4 or 5 classics - from what I consider my favorite musical OF ALL TIME
Thank you so much for posting. If they asked me I could write a book

I met her. She was lovely! #TIFF’17
I saw Frank perform one of his last concerts. #legends

Sorry about the delay in approving this comment. UA-cam's email notification system has been a hit and miss this year.
All the best.

16:9 It needs stretching. Never mind, I'll download it and do it myself!
It could be the worst movie in the world, but with Frank in it...well it's the best!!!
Watch her hands . Oh yeah .
Es música.
Oops. I think it's Rodgers.
No better than this............
All of his vocals in this movie are sheer perfection. Sinatra was at his very best.
Vavavavoom with that gown and gloves! They just don’t dress like ladies anymore. And they don’t make gowns like this anymore. No glam movies are made anymore. 😢😢

They sure don't Love this so much😞😞😞😞😞😞😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.

That he was sweetness😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Yes the man with The golden voice.

Transcend Fine Jewellery If you haven't seen it, check out "Suddenly". Very good movie.
Frank Sinatra singing a fabulous Rodgers and Hart score. Beautiful Rita Hayworth, who could really dance, and Kim Novak. A Hollywood classic.
Can you imagine what it would feel like to be hugging on Kim Novak!!!
I love this one....Frank Sinatra and Kim Novak...two of my favorites! This movie was awesome!
I too had the great thrill of seeing Frank perform in Las Vegas, near to the end of his stellar career, but it is still one of the best performances I have ever seen, in the first three minutes he had the audience eating out of his hand. What a star!
sinatra at his best. he was the premier entertainer of the 20th century
THIS IS SO GOOD - I LOVE FRANK -
AND GORGEOUS KIM -
WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT ..
Lovely song too.. Thank you !!
I love this, Imagine a man being romantic enough to sing this to you 😍😍😍
I love this film so much. It never ages and neither do the stars.
Movies like this are simply timeless, not to be taken too seriously, just pure escapism and with Franks voice and the sheer stunning beauty of Kim Novak how could this film fail.
Frank Sinatra the best singer ever ❤ Love this movie! What a gorgeous couple Kim & Frank
Kim Novak has such a wonderfully subdued, one-of-a-kind screen presence. I just did a tribute video to her on my channel, using clips from key Novak movie classics, if anyone would like to check it out.
One of my favorite songs. Frank singing Rodgers & Hart as no one else ever could.
The G.O.A.T! If you liked "Pal Joey" you should check out "Suddenly". Underrated Sinatra flick.
stunning novak that is as attractive as gardner or hepburn
You wouldn’t say that if you see the way she has ended up looking,Yuk horror show.
A great Rogers and Hart song. “Pal Joey” is a romantic and humorous movie.
Tailor made for Sinatra!
Nobody sings this song better than Sinatra and there has been many covers.
Kim is a natural. Not to mention the sexiness she exudes all the time.
Yeah, and Young at Heart had some great songs in it too.
Years ago, a budding romance of mine with a great guy (or so I thought) came to an abrupt end, and I immediately showed him the door. You know what he said? "I can take or leave Sinatra." Imagine. Later for you, jack.

Yes, I heard Frank say that too in an interview. That this was his favorite movie. Had some really good music in it.
Nell Sabrsula "I could write a book" is my favorite too Nell, greetings.
somefavs That's right for me too, Thanks and greetings.
Ante todo la voz y presencia de Sinatra, una bella melodía, que belleza el glamour, no dejo de repetirlo, lo retro es maravilloso.
Juan Bernardo Irigoyen

The perfect role for Sinatra--great Rogers & Hart tune. And how about that dress!!!!
Kim Novak was a beautiful woman.
Wow Kim Novak , nice real nice
Super! Good song; Kim Novak - most beautiful girl !
Thanks for posting this. Such a lovely song yet lesser heard

Kim was and still is so beautiful, classy, and fabulous! Sending love to the beautiful Czech-American Princess! 🇨🇿
Thanks 4 uploading; all of a sudden sweet memories came rushing back !
So VERY glad to hear that my friend!
Great film. But i think the original recording on Columbia far surpassed this one. That said- pure magic.
My fav Sinatra song ❤️
She was beautiful in this scene
Fifties Blonde bombshell. My Late Dad's favorite lady (save for Mom)...
But, he LIED-LOL
Kim Novak is such a doll
Willing suspension of disbelief that the people in the nightclub could hear any of this without a mic
Kim's just so darn pretty!
Ol Blue Eyes what a treasure
This is utterly beguiling isn't it?
Awesome,I want to be Kim novakx I'd even be happy being the puppy dog x
I love her. so classy!

Some enchanted evening you may see a stranger with a figure less than Greek because she gets too hungry for dinner at eight.
so why is everyone thin but the sides have black bars? Aspect ratio mistake

She’s so beautiful and her dress is gorgeous.
シナトラは、としをとてからのほうが、かんろくがでてる
Great songs from this movie.
Anyone notice that Kim Novak starts out the number a little taller than Sinatra, but ends up a little shorter. Old blue eyes was only 5'8. Regardless, love this movie.
peace2014 It could have been worse, imagine if Paul Simon sang toKim Novak :)
@@fntime Or even worse still. Mickey Rooney.
