    I appreciate the video thanks for posting this! I have a 2019 Silverado I’m currently deciding what product to use on, and leaning towards Herculiner for sure as there is no mixing, etc. I’ll use a tray, and tape and cover everything because otherwise I’ll get it everywhere, but you showed how easy it is to work with. Thanks again. 👍

      @@PermacultureLongboarder yeah - weight is critical to vehicle manufacturing, as they shave pounds as best possible for fuel economy and cost. Why do you think Ford went Aluminum? The new GM carbon bed will eliminate the need for this anyway. They get reviewed poorly if any part fails, including paint and especially if something were to rust or delaminate (peel), etc..

    I took mine pickup to a professional Rhino bed liner dealer ~ MAN ITS EXCELLENT 👍 The pickup is 2000 Chevy Silverado. It was done in the Rhino spray liner 21yrs ago! It has never flake, peel, cracked, nor wear off! it kinda faded a little to a dark gray and not the tar black color any more But Its Awesome > It was worth every cent i paid for having it done PROFESSIONAL ! Only way is sand blast the bed to give the metal texture for the liner to hold ! Then they splatter it, with a smooth texture. then spray paint it

    Durabak sucks, Duplicolor sucks.... Herculiner has the most texture and is very thick and strong. Try to do 2 coats if you can. 1 coat on a bare bed isn't going to give you thick enough protection. I'd buy 2 gallons and do 3 coats to be safe. Let dry between coats. Herculiner is definitely a good product.
    You must scuff the paint heavily and clean with acetone or it won't stick.

    • @kidsx249
      @kidsx249 5 років тому

      M Barilla id give 2-3 coats on the bottom of the bed and only one on the side walls and bed rails maybe 2 on the tailgate rail! That way you mite be able to get away with only one gallon! Theres no need to apply 3 coats on the sidewalls

    My friend and I did Herculiner on his 96 Silverado back when the stuff first came out in the 90s. It took two gallons to make the long bed look right. Thing was up in Colorado, the UV rays beat it down to a grey color pretty quick. I did my S10 with Durabak. It's about twice the cost, but it comes in colors and has a UV stabilizer. I still have to re coat it every other year. Haven't done so since 2011 and it's looking pretty rough. The Linex on my Suburban has held up extremely well in the 3 years since I had them spray it. Like you say, if you're willing to DIY, there are options out there that don't require a compressor or sprayer.

    Doing my today and did not get one drop of that crap on me. Not sure why everyone is covered in bedliner when done. Put the roller on an extension pole and you can just stand at the tailgate and do 90% of it. Most broom poles are the standard thread as the paint roller and will work too. Theres zero reason the have to climb into the bed to do any of this. Then lean over the side of the bed and hit tight corners with the brush.
