    Even though you didn't do a perfect job, the video was super helpful and saved me a lot of errors. Thanks!

    Great video, appreciate you talking about what you could have done better. I have a project 94 Ranger and I used Herculiner roll-on kit and it went extremely well. Give that a try if you want a thicker and tougher result!

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 роки тому +1

      Ya, I think if I were to try DIY again, I'd do the rollon with a thick nap. That helps make it thicker and bumpier! But I didn't want to spend that much on this truck. I won't be keeping the bed that long anyway. haha. I just wanted a quick and cheap option... But I also got quick and cheap results.

    I use rustoleum bedliner spray on bumpers and trims. Sand and clean the Surface and it works well. Don’t sand if it’s plastic. I wouldn’t use it on a truck bed in my opinion. If you ever want to bedliner a truck use Raptor liner. I have it on my Dakota and it’s been great. But nothing will beat Line X. Those type of bedliners are baked on.

    Front of my 2014' F150 rusting horrible. Used angle grinder to remove rust and smooth pits. Looking very good

    Check your Cam Synchronizer for that (Squirrel noise) combined with bucking of truck when it revs past 4K rpms

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 роки тому

      Truck runs smooth. Leaks a little coolant, too, so I’m pretty sure it’s water pump related

      Bucking could be a cam sync issue, but that's usually accompanied by a check engine light on EEC-V trucks.

      @@rayregnogarage My '95 Ranger had front accessory hamster wheel squeal and I thought it was another idler pulley. Once I got the serp belt off though, turns out it was the alternator bearings. Thanks to my grandpa for the old mechanics trick of using a long screwdriver to your ear as a stethoscope for pinpointing the source of weird noises.
      Since it was still charging fine, and I'd upgraded to the 130 amp alternator, I opted to order a $25 Ford 3G alternator rebuild kit online instead of buying a whole new one.

    Rattle can painting large areas outdoors is tough. I tried to get prep done as early as possible but as soon as the sun starts coming up the wind picks up to and carries the paint away....

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 роки тому

      Ya and I just don’t have the patience to do all the prep. haha. I could never do paint and body. I was just so over it. It’s not a show truck. So I gave it very little effort. lol

    I was thinking about getting my whole ranger linex'd, thoughts?

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 роки тому +1

      I figure that would be pretty pricy. And make the truck heavier. For a beater truck, I feel like that might be overkill. But it would look cool. I've seen Vans done that way.

      @@rayregnogarage my ranger will be more of a trail build and i was thinking that you dont have to worry about paint scratching and should be pretty hard to dent depending on the thickness of the liner. Idk im still thinking about exactly what i want to do. Maybe just paint it and be careful lol.

    Somehow I missed the Duplicate-Color part…or did I misread the title?
    I would have cut off the tailgate top edge of the old liner and epoxied it to the tailgate to protect that edge, and possibly all around the top edge of the entire bed.

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  2 роки тому

      The Duplicolor was the vinyl spray on the tailgate. I just did it because the "color match" was so bad I thought it would look better intentionally NOT matching haha. Plus it's "vinyl" so it would be removeable if I hated. This truck is so dented up I don't really care about protecting it too much. If I did, I'd get one of those professionally installed spray liners. I had Rhino Liner on a previous truck and loved it.
