At a level 18 one shot, we all had the option of having up to a legendary magical item. Most of the party and I grab relevant items, but the ranger instead goes for a deck of many things. After a handful of draws, we nearly got tpk'd since the cleric drew the wrath of a powerful devil. We also fought the devil without a wizard, since he was trapped because a previous card. The item single-handedly made our session.
I let my players draw from it during our most recent session. Our ranger drew Comet, Euryale, and Moon (rolled 3 wishes). Our rouge drew Rouge, Euryale, Flames, and Idiot, but drew Key on his extra card. And finally their fighter friend drew Vizier, Knight, and Moon (also rolled 3 wishes). They told the fighter to use his wishes to give them 3 permanent resistances (which is RAW) so now everyone has resistance to all physical damage. Another was used to restore the rouge's INT from the Idiot card and now they have 2 left. Fun times ahead.

Either in a jump cut little monologue where Matt is like 'the new lord of the Quad Roads thought back to the man who'd given him these treasures, and wished him good health' or at his funeral the same thing happens.
if they use raw rules the deck won't work for grog anymore, Before you draw a card, you must declare how many cards you intend to draw and then draw them randomly (you can use an altered deck of playing cards to simulate the deck). Any cards drawn in excess of this number have no effect.
nothing says you cut declare multiple times. it only specifies that you can't say three, but stop after one. And if you accidentally pull more than declared nothing happens.
that not what it says it says ANY cards drawn in excess of this number have NO effect. The first card in the second draw is also the X card from the first draw, therefore it has NO effect. it would have to reset the effect at the end of the day for it to work the way you are claiming. It also would be an infinite wish machine because you could wish you drew the moon card instead of the bad card you just drew.
Richard Henderson you can modify it to your liking ☺. I've even seen some people use it as a twice draw per day and has various meager to great daily effects it can grant.
In the game that I play in, not knowing what it was, I drew from the deck of many things. My first card drawn ever was the void. My party had to fight through a Demonic Soul Carnival filled with terrifying demons and monsters everywhere.
I already did it. They started pulling immediately and were saved when the player who drew the Fates card decided to erase the moment when they picked the deck up
Grogg had better luck than my Paladin did with the deck. Literally lost all magic items except for an exploding necklace, gained persuasion as an expertise, a house in another continent, and then became imprisoned by a literal demon prince.
If we're talking about the 22 card deck, the Fates is the most powerful card, but in a 13 card deck the Moon (the wish card) is definitely the most powerful.

He doesn't know the guys name, but for all intents and purposes he "was" a lord in the past. Probably shaved off a quadrant (averaged from all the lords) who all now think they never had that land. The spell can create a single magic item worth 25,000 gold, so he probably got a cut of land that was worth 25,000 if sold, today. The land itself may be more "powerful" if wielded correctly, i.e. commanded by government or private rule... but it's ultimately probably worth about that much, minus say, a 500 gold retainer for that guy. He may have a lot of "power" but he might go down a couple of alleys and get shanked, as power is dangerous. He's gonna need that second wish pretty soon. He should've just asked for money. Wishes are dangerous.
I know a lot of DM's are afraid of putting the Deck of Many Things into their campaign because of it being too powerful... but a simple solution to that is to replace some of the more powerful cards with weaker versions if your characters are low level. For instance, perhaps instead of 1d3 wishes the player is given 1d3 days of Enlightened Skills (Advantage on all Rolls), and maybe instead of the pesky Void Spell that puts your soul into an object and lets a powerful entity guard it the card instead automatically put the player into a contract with the powerful entity. If the character is perhaps weak-willed then they may be swayed by the entity and do evil acts in the hope of power(essentially giving them the choice to switch to Warlock)). Though if the player refuses they'll simply keep ignoring the entity until they are hit with a Greater Restoration Spell (Which the party would likely have to find someone who could do such if they're low level). These are just a couple ideas on the more powerful effects in the deck. Really it's up to the DM, but never underestimate how much fun the item can be. Good luck out there!
True! But wouldn't that ruin all the fun of the chaos that such a feared item could bring? It should be feared! It is the most potent and chaotic item in the world. :)

And so did the Werewolf Police Force (it was a strange town).
I just love Grog, this is so amazing
First appearance of King Dwendal.
Campaign 3 episode 13 a late middle aged former Lord of the Quadroads is at the Ball. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the drunk Grog gave a card to.
I love how Matt knows exactly where he's going with the story and cuts in to narrate it. Matt has been like this since the first streams. This one wasn't too hard to guess at since he basically said what he was doing completely at that point but Matt took it a step further.
Hello Campaign 3 Gang :D
