    Played way too many hands; why are you calling raises with JTo out of position in the first level? You’re also fighting for pots that aren’t that big, which means bluffs get called all the time. You can’t win the tournament early but you can definitely lose it early, as others have said, gotta let the cards come to you sometimes and be patient when the blinds are low. Can’t just hope to sun-run and get Aces ten times like the other tourney.

    More tournament study. This is painful to watch. The problem is that the main event is notorious for having to navigate the land mines that are recreational players. You're trying to use logic to navigate people who have no logic or a real game plan. You can't bluff a call station. They are always going to call. The best thing you can do is show them the nuts over and over again. There are some people who are going to always call because they don't know any better. Attempting to bluff in early portions of the main event is suicide.

      I like Ethan, I do. I'm rooting for him, but if you watch his vlogs, I think it's clear that his play is unbalanced - he barrels through with big bets when he's bluffing, and when he has something he checks or bets smaller. Gee, I wonder why on those big-money live streams he lost so much ? Maybe good players have realized the obvious ?? I know he has a lot of money from his 2 impressive tourney wins, but at the rate he is going I think he is doomed. I really wish he would get some high-level coaching, that he could easily afford right now, so that when he is entering a prestigious event like this, that he takes it seriously and is prepared. 33 ? Three-betting an early raiser with K8s ? Seems reckless to me.

Sure, skill is involved - without skill you won’t get very far, but you also can’t win without luck. Different from a 10k punt on a poker session....WSOP only comes once a year. "Folding is boring" is GREAT for content, but DUDE.... take it serious, and try for a deep run. MANY pros don't even sit down on day one (so they don't get crushed by 6/3 spades!) because of the variance. SO many factors go into a WSOP 10K Main Event seat.... not just the 10k, can you take a week (more) off from work, family, etc., AND cover meals/lodging.... LOTS of factors for the average Joe. But, while most of us would LOVE to be playing there, we can't. So, instead, we root for you. Those of us that watch you, almost religiously, could've rooted for ANYONE... but we chose you. And what do you do? Punt the WSOP 10K MAIN EVENT tournament away, like it was nothing. Almost an insult to the game. Still gonna watch you, just majorly dissappointed.

    I don't play poker professionally but I wanted to play in the WSOP ME one time in my life. Took me 4 years to save enough to have that buy in plus some extra for other events.
    The year I finally got all my financials all set, hotel room, flight, everything was planned out.. 2020. Was supposed to be in May, then July, then August..
    Thanks Covid. I didn't make it because of the date change but I'm pretty sure it was a blessing in disguise. I probably would of lost my first hand.

    More tournament study. You're checking hands you should be betting and betting hands you should be checking. You over played AK vs an old man nit and thankfully it was the same hand but then you play passive with AA. I'm cringing hardcore here. I don't think you're a bad player but this is really bad play.

    33%+ on a punt, 50%+ on hero call, 50% on an under pair (after fighting back). Fine (I guess) when you can add on in cash, but every chip in your stack has the potential to double in tourney, so when committing these sort of %, you have to ask yourself "Is this the hill I want to die on?"

    Tournaments can be quite a bit more emotional than cash. I do understand the disappointment felt on busting early in a long winded tournament though not the Main Event. It stings but you took down a large tournament this year, and next year's event, you will be much better prepared. I know you will.

  • @mastercarve6211
    @mastercarve6211 3 роки тому +1

    Ethan, if you’re going to get into more tourneys, you need to learn some more “standard” lines, like not 3-betting 40x with 99, or only 2.5x with 44, or re-raising something like K-10 off out of position, which is a definite fold there. Definitely some things to study and learn, as there’s no “topping off” in a tourney after a hand you’ve played wrong. Good luck!

    Hero calling big bets on Day 1 or aggressively betting into boards with middle pairs shows you're not studying tournament meta, and knowing tournament meta is just as important as playing good poker. It's a bit of a dogpile in the comment section, but that part is absolutely true.

    Pocket 10s play was suppose to be a fold or all-in on the flop. He 3bet x4 preflop on the BB, which is huge in tourneys, especially only on lvl3. BB overbet the flop, with the aggressive move again, his range gotta be narrowed down to pocket Js and above (sometimes pocket 10s). Flat calling there, has only left you with a 0.5 SPR going into the turn.
