It’s sort of how “modern rock” records are produced now…I think. Matt Cameron simply doesn’t fit well with PJ. Never has. He has complete control over how the drums sound on the records. That’s why the snares echo and overall the drumming is muddy. This is a live version recorded on a cell phone and sounds WAY better than the album version.

@@kevynlevine Bro, the band is hovering around age 60 and have been giving 110% every concert for 34 years in PJ…not counting Bad Radio, Green River, Soundgarden, and various other side projects. Josh is 45, a baby in comparison. He has already played drums for a gig or two during Gigaton. Backing vocals and string instruments are under his purview too. He’s a jack-of-all trades. It’s meant to conserve/prolong the original members health and perhaps open the catalog up/add new covers to their setlist. Eddie’s voice has been compromised for many years now. Alcohol and cigarettes nonstop will do that. Jeff has no cartilage in his knees. Matt’s back is shot. It would be nice if they made Josh a full member of the band but I’m not sure if that’s something he wants at this point.
...no doubt PJ goes hard....i saw them in Ottawa 2022.....they leave it all on the stage....total pros!!! On a side not sammy hagar is even older than these dudes...and him, Jason Bonham, satch and mike Anthony are gonna rock this summer@@JohnDoe-od7ye
Band sounds great as usual. Haven't listened to the new album much, but will do so. I liked Gigaton a lot, and many seem to think this is better. Ed needs to lose that hat though. Not a good look.
Lol. He’s been wearing hats a lot the last few years. He’s not bald but balding but it’s what I call “natural balding” that is normal for a man his age.
I’m not a fan of the hat either. I didn’t see it in 2022, but it was in full effect in the 2023 shows I saw. Honestly, they can wear whatever they want. But It’s hard to go all out and get into the more aggressive material while wearing a hat like that.
