I think you’re wrong about the Order of the Phoenix not being too long or as long as it needs to be. J.K Rowling herself regretted adding as much she did for this book, saying it was too beefy and too long. She wished she had shortened it and cut some things out that were unnecessary and I had to agree with her. There’s many things that could’ve been condensed or cut like the beginning of the book and the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. The first two chapters could’ve been condensed into one with Harry all alone walking just like in the movie and then getting one letter from the Ministry instead of multiple letters from different people. It took forever to get to the Battle of Department of Mysteries in the book and when we got there, I was like “Ok, here we go!” But then it just dragged on even more. The heroes had to go the Circular Room full of doors and they just randomly guessed which door to go through. Which to me is pointless. Especially when compared to the obstacles in the first book which gives a sequence of each character a moment to shine and it was very thrilling but here it just felt pointless and takes too long. They go from the Circular Room, to the Brain Room, then back to the Circular Room, then to the Death Chamber, back to the Circular Room, then to the Time Room and then to the Hall of Prophecies. That’s a lot of things that delayed the action we audience had been waiting for the last 3 and a half chapters. Sure it was cool to see the different branches of Magic throughout but it was not the time to do it as it took away suspense. Meanwhile in the movie, the sequence isn’t too long. It’s exciting, it’s mysterious and it’s heartbreaking.

I see that. It does move around a lot in the Department of Mysteries, but I also kind of like it for that. It is a mysterious place, and getting to see a bunch of that was just...interesting to me. I get that it might not be for some people. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and for watching! :)

I agree, I hated Cursed Child! It was horrendous fan fiction by someone who doesn’t understand Harry or Ginny. Deathly Hollows always makes me cry. Hedwig and Dobby 😭😭 Order of the Phoenix was deep and gave some good characters to hate, but Harry constantly taking his anger out on Ron and Hermione when they’re the ones standing by him and getting crap for defending him just ticks me off. They’re easy targets since they’re with him and I get that, but that it continues the whole time instead of lashing out a bit and getting his head out of his… 🤬 Prisoner of Azkaban is very fun though. I love that someone pointed out that Ron has horrible brothers. They’ve known for years that he’s sleeping with somebody named Peter Pettigrew and just never bothered to mention it cause you know they occasionally spied on their siblings with the map 😂

I know the first time I read it, I didn't love it, but I was more forgiving. This time though... oh boy, I was just really annoyed. They butchered every character in that book so badly. Deathly Hallows made everyone cry. :P I give Harry's attitude a bit of a break, because all of us (or most of us anyway) feel like the world revolves around us at 15, and we get an attitude over even the smallest things. But it is a tad overdone. I...actually never thought about that before. PLOT HOLE!!
      Thanks for watching! :)

@@Man-With-a-Hat-Who-Reads all the things you pick up on as you get older and read the series again is amazing. I’ll admit I’m not the one who picked up on Fred and George being terrible brothers but I can’t remember who I was watching that pointed it out the first time. And of course there’s Dumbledore, the beloved Grandpa that did Harry dirty “for the greater good”. I mean, 1 life vs all the lives, but that was still messed up raising him to die at the opportune moment but playing like he’s protecting him purely out of love. Talk about a harsh way of learning not to be so trusting. Yet it still gets me every time when he dies in the books or the movies. She might have added too much or left in plot holes, but Rowling definitely knew how to tug the heart strings and get us attached to fictional characters!

Order of the Phoenix is my favorite, but I need to reread and see how things change. I want to do them on audio next.

I think my memory of the books is tainted by the movies (read them about 15-22 years ago). The Cursed child maybe works as a stageplay which it was before it got it's bookform but as a book it didn't work. Like you mentioned the first couple of books are very small if JK would rewrite some of it the books would probably be thicker now. Maybe I should reread the whole series also but I didn't like Dobby, who is a fanfavorite for most fans, but I didn't get it. Not hating on him but that character didn't work for me. I think for me the order is 8-7-5-6-4-2-3-1 with 8 being the worst. But that's all going by memory, could easily change after a reread.

Yeah, the movies do intrude in on my memory of the books, but I actually dislike most of the films. I thought films 4 and 5 are especially poor adaptions, as they really gloss over things. A re-read, especially after so long, would be a great idea. :) I understand your feelings about Dobby. I don't really love him in book 2, but I think he got better as the series went on. Thank you for sharing your ranking and thanks for watching! :)

@@Man-With-a-Hat-Who-Reads The Prisoner of Azkaban was for me the worst adaptation. Throughout the book Harry & co were searching who gave Harry his new Broomstick (the mystery, like every story/book is a mystery) while in the movie he just got the Broomstick in the end, so the whole mystery was taken from the movie. For me the world but also the mystery made the books a success.

Our rankings don't align at all! I think my favorite is Half Blood Prince followed by Goblet of Fire. Thankfully, I've never read The Cursed Child because I've only heard bad things about it.

Cursed Child is just...Ugh. It might work as an actual stage show, but reading it...Yeah, so much of it feels forced. Thanks for watching! :)

@Man-With-a-Hat-Who-Reads it definitely is the worst but tbf it is a screenplay not a book, and is meant to be used in a movie or play
