Catching Huge Bluegill and Setting 3 New PB's in Southwest Florida Canal (Catch, Clean, Cook)

  • This was absolutely an epic day for both Mason and myself. Mason set two new PB's (Personal Best), his biggest Bluegill (1.28 lbs) and biggest bass(14 inches). It was incredible watching him fight the fish on his own, and the excitement he had was priceless. I, on the other hand, also set a new PB with a Bluegill weighing in at 1.26 lbs. These were definitely the biggest Bluegill I've ever seen in my life. Hope you enjoy!

You're one hell of a dad!!!! My Mom had me on the fishing bank around his age and it became our thing to do together up until 2007 when she passed away. My best memories are on the fishing bank with her. He's going to remember that forever. I really enjoyed this video. Number 1 Dad 😆

Your boy will remember these trips for the rest of his life. I remember vividly a day when I was four at Thanksgiving, going with my Uncle Rod duck hunting. He shot two canal Mallards, best day of my life to that point.

Um...not to be a killjoy but that first fish is most certainly NOT a bluegill. In northwest Louisiana we call that a Chinquapin/Shellcracker or Red Ear Sunfish. At any rate they can easily get above 2 pounds here in Louisiana. Anyway. I remember those fun days with my little guy. Now he's 19 and we haven't fished together in years.

Those big ones are either shell cracker or a hybrid between a blue gill and a shell cracker… The real name is red ear sunfish but we call them shell crackers because they have crushers in their throat and they eat snails and small clams.
Most of them were shell crackers but I believe the first one or two might have been mixed.
