- This was absolutely an epic day for both Mason and myself. Mason set two new PB's (Personal Best), his biggest Bluegill (1.28 lbs) and biggest bass(14 inches). It was incredible watching him fight the fish on his own, and the excitement he had was priceless. I, on the other hand, also set a new PB with a Bluegill weighing in at 1.26 lbs. These were definitely the biggest Bluegill I've ever seen in my life. Hope you enjoy!
I love how fired up your son was. He's going to fish his whole life!
I agree too awesome! ❤️
You're one hell of a dad!!!! My Mom had me on the fishing bank around his age and it became our thing to do together up until 2007 when she passed away. My best memories are on the fishing bank with her. He's going to remember that forever. I really enjoyed this video. Number 1 Dad 😆
my grandma was my fishing buddy shes getting to old to go i go see her after fishing trip and take pictures of every fish i catch no matter how small
That's not a Bluegill, that's A Redear Shellcracker... but great catch, loves seeing little man get excited...
Some people call all panfish bluegill when in reality there's like 20 different species
Man I love watching dads like you spending time with your kid.
Your awesome we need more dads like you. And those was some huge shellcracker and bull bream
Thank you!!
I love to hear him say get the net.
Ever since this video, he says it all the time lol. Thanks for watching.
Yes. It’s a Munster. Life is so simple. He will remember that when he’s teaching his son to fish.
Love the way your son was having 🤩 fun. Looking to take my 4yr old daughter fishing there. Is there anyway I can find out where that canal is?
That’s when you know he had a good day look back and he sleep
Great to see you have such a great time with your son Mason.
Brings back many memories of my Dad and I doing the very same thing.
God Bless and keep him fishing. You have a wonderful son and your a great Dad.
Thank you. I really apprecaite that.
That first fish is a Redear...
Love this video, but get this kid his own channel! He’s so into it, it’s amazing. He’s definitely gonna be a master fisherman when he gets older!
It's actually a cross between a bluegill and a red ear sunfish(shellcracker) I've caught them before...good job !
To see and hear the excitement from your son put the biggest smile on my face. He will remember that for the rest of his life. Great job dad.
Much respect to you sir! Nothing like dad time
Thank you
What an awesome father this gentleman is to his son. The world would be a better place if there were a few more guys around like mason's dad. Wow!!!
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching our video. Hoping to start uploading videos again soon.
Amen
Nice fishing. However, please give your son a hat for sun protection.
Shellcracker (Red-ear sunfish)
Either way they were delicious lol. Thank you for watching.
@@hookin-n-cookin6451 they have great flavor, best wishes to you and your son!
Not blue gill that's red ear they get bigger than blue gills I catch them bigger than them
It makes a kid feel great knowing that he helps feed the family.
I'm late to the game but I just want to say your son is adorable. I tried to share my love of fishing with my two boys but since it didn't come with buttons and/or batteries and weren't jumping in the boat they weren't interested. Good job DAD.
Thank you for that. I'm happy that he enjoys it so much and you never know, maybe one day they'll find a liking for it. Thank you for watching. Working on some new content very soon.
Your boy will remember these trips for the rest of his life. I remember vividly a day when I was four at Thanksgiving, going with my Uncle Rod duck hunting. He shot two canal Mallards, best day of my life to that point.
He and I and another couple uncles made a lifetime of memories when I was a kid and a teenager. I treasure them.
Thank you for sharing. It's been a few years since we've put anything together for UA-cam, but Mason still asks me to put on our fishing videos. We certainly have made some great memories and hope to get back to sharing videos again one day.
The bluegill are shell-crackers.
Gotta hookum to cookum salaam peace
that kid will remember this trip the rest of his life, you win the dad award
Thank you! He sure loves it!!!
Some of those huge ones looks like Redears the ones with the red dots. Also some look like Redear/Bluegills hybrids man look like you and your son had a amazing time there.
That's exactly what they are.
Incredible day!
why such a small rod
great video, get the net!
Way to go Mason 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Get the net
Those are actually red ear sunfish and yeah they are known to get big
I catch 2-3 pound blue gill’s
That's huge!!!
Your son made me subscribed! kudos to Mason.
Thank you for watching! He's definitely a character lol.
Your son is HOOKED great job man love this video he’ll never forget this day.
That he is! Thanks for watching
That is cool love watching kids having fun catching fish especially big bluegills. Take my grandkids every chance I can. Rather they catch them because they will always be able to put food on the table no matter how bad things get in this crazy world.
That's the truth. Thanks for watching
Um...not to be a killjoy but that first fish is most certainly NOT a bluegill. In northwest Louisiana we call that a Chinquapin/Shellcracker or Red Ear Sunfish. At any rate they can easily get above 2 pounds here in Louisiana. Anyway. I remember those fun days with my little guy. Now he's 19 and we haven't fished together in years.
Those blue gills were monsters. So big!! Enjoyed watching your little boy fish. 😀
They were! Thank you so much for the kind words.
1:30 Probably because that's not a bluegill, it's a redear sunfish. Redear sunfish are the largest member of the lepomis genus. They grow bigger than bluegills do.
This is awesome. Those are some BIG red ear Sunfish
Thanks for watching and yes they were huge!
Love the little boy, I enjoyed watching him catch fish, and then he yells, get the net !!!
I'd look like that after a day SLAYING too. Some really cool hybrids, including that bass-wall eye hybrid jr caught towards the end. Super cool!
HE CAUGHT A LOT OF FISH GOOD JOB
Shellcracker (red ear sunfish).....they have crushers in the back of their mouth (beginning of the throat) that crush mollusk shells like snails, mussels, etc.
Boy you left a lot of meat!
Cut at an angel and get that big chunk of meat behind the head!!!
Check out Shot Gun Red on how to fillet them!
But get cooking! You are so lucky to have those big gills where you are.
You must be in the south.
Great video!
Thats one of the coolest father and son video ive seen in a while. Great job
Thank you
Good times and memories with your son that will last forever. Thanks for sharing your fishing trip with your son.
Thank you for watching.
AWESOME GILL FOR YOUR BOY,EVEN BETTER,ITS ON VIDEO!!

Beautiful family! ❤️ I use to do this with my father when I was a kid, ever since I ve been fishing my entire life, now I do this with my kids, they will remember this forever...
Certainly a life time of memories to be made. Thanks for watching
Congratulations on your catch! I could be mistakened that last big one is a s by is a red ear not a blue be gill. Fjreat content keep the fishing shows coming.
Took my two boys fishing when they were tiny. They're avid fisherman today.took my two grandchildren fishing at the same pond and they caught there first fish a tiny blue gill. You would have thought it was JAWS.GREAT VIDEO LOVED TO SEE YOUR LITTLE BOY HAVING FUN FISHING.
Definitely a great way to make memories and yes the excitement on a child when they real in the tiniest of fish, is just priceless.. Thank you for watching
your son is hooked for lige. pun intended. In FL huge gills are common but the ones I use to catch were almost black.
Those big ones are either shell cracker or a hybrid between a blue gill and a shell cracker… The real name is red ear sunfish but we call them shell crackers because they have crushers in their throat and they eat snails and small clams.
Most of them were shell crackers but I believe the first one or two might have been mixed.
I know this videos old but the picture of the video is not a bluegill it's a pumpkinseed cause it has blue like a bluegill with red on the edge it's a pumpkinseed
The little boy is so much fun. When he said bring the net, i fell out. If you keep him fishing he will stay out of trouble later.
Some of those were shell crackers but awesome video. I just subscribed! I'm hooked.
That’s big red ears, Chinkapen, or Shellcracker
My brother, what you are calling bluegill is a shell cracker. You can tell the difference between the two by the red on its gillplate
May I ask what part of Florida are you fishing is that around ockeechobe
Lol love how his son says... are we going to keep it. Great Dad. I'm a deermeat for dinner fan as well

He fish better than me and I visit two years ago, but I love fishing
Dad used to take me fishing and now I'm 40 and he's gone and I cherish those memories.

We called them Bluegill growing up but yes they are definitely red ears. Thanks for watching
I've caught a blue gill that would fit in my hand
Hybrid between bluegill and shellcracker
That's awesome ole boy is right about the red ear that's gonna be some eating and that's cool
I like how you didn't over gloves your fish.
Those bluegill get a whole lot bigger ! They can get every bit of 5lbs . U don’t see them that big because we either eat them or use them as cut baits . But if people just leave them they can get huge
Very true. I would love to catch a 5 pounder.
They are shellcracker not Bluegill some people call them redear.
Those were nice sized redear sunfish your son caught.
Im a new sub because you and your sons enter actions. Cute
Thank you
