  • How do you go from living in an Amish community to winning a NASCAR Cup Series championship? Marlin Yoder found a way, and it wasn’t easy. After leaving the Amish community, Marlin wasn't going to let his dreams of reaching the highest level of stock car racing slip away. He was working as a roofer and helping on friends’ late models in Wisconsin, but challenged himself to figure out how to work in racing full time.
In 2015, Marlin drove to North Carolina and gave himself two weeks to find a job at a race shop. He got a room in a motel and started visiting race shops in the Charlotte area to hand out his resume. How the rest of Marlin’s story plays out is almost unbelievable, including when he turned down his dream job the first time it was offered. But, he found a way and he’s got a 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship ring to prove it.

I love how principled he is. Like Dale said he could’ve easily cruised on a good salary but his desire for greater things and principles overcame that.

Loved this. If I lived closer to Kannapolis I would take my car to him to get it fixed. I feel like I could trust him.

We need more crew guys to be visible and talked about! They don't even mention the flag man, pace car driver or the guy running the show's name on tv these days! They used to say Harold Kinder bringthem to green or Elmo Langley paces the field and they always showed Bill Gazaway giving commands to race operations. You just felt more involved and invested!

His resume wouldn't so bad if you asked me. Sounds like Harry Gant. Harry worked on roofs/carpentry and drove race cars as a hobby before he got a big break.

The full interview this clip was from was the first time my wife watched an entire podcast with me. She likes the short clips like this but loses interest if they are too long but she got sucked into this entire episode. 😂 Interesting guy. 👍

I’m happy that Kyle Larson was able to come out of the other side of those leftists trying to destroy his career.

I do wish this young man the best! He’s very disciplined and smart, so I won’t be surprised at all to see his name on the side of a truck or car in NASCAR. He’s a very impressive young man. I’m sure his parents are proud of him.
