Paul's Picking and Blocking Technique

- Take a close look at Paul's picking hand in this video. Slow it down to catch the nuances of his Fingertip Blocking technique. Pick Blocking is more aptly called "Fingertip Blocking", a combination of the "webbed" ring and pinky fingers and the index and middle finger picks.

When I met Paul in 2016, I showed him a few videos of me pick blocking, and he said what I was doing was legato, not blocking the notes clean. After spending 3 years studying with Paul, he got my pick blocking technique on track. It took me about a year to correct my poor technique, but now it’s getting better and better every day! Thanks, Paul!

Something that may seem trivial, but I'd love to see Paul discuss, is shaping your picks... how much you want sticking past your fingers, how far back the band should go.... the angle.
These are things overlooked a lot of times in instruction. I know I am contests really messing with my.picks, because I've yet to find the shape that's right for me.

Modern Music Masters it's pretty bad I've got found the best way to shape my picks yet after playing a year.... haha.
I'm a stickler for the small details that may or may not improve my playing. Sounds like Paul put a lot of thought into what he covers from point A-Z!!!!

I know he now call's it fingertip blocking. But didn't he offer a course or courses on pick blocking back in the late 80's??
