I’m from NY and an avid Knicks supporter. Oak is beloved for his grit, toughness and game. Cut from a different cloth.
The Good Cloth
Bullies know who they can bully and who they should leave alone.
Exactly!
naw he body slammed barkly, i mean mike rtson aint in the nba but he aint back to no nba player.
Nah he pushed Xavier McDaniel, you push him you want all the smoke, but I don't see him doing that to a James Johnson or Khawi Leonard.
Rick mahorn had oak scared
@@andresdelportillo9917 I almost believed you until I saw the way Oakley went after Mahorn for a foul on MJ.
Oak’s book is titled “ The Last Enforcer.” That and “Blood in the Garden” are my two favorite books about the 90’s Knicks.
I will have to purchase both
"The Last Enforcer" is such a bad ass title 👀
Oakley had a massive heart but the way he treated Ewing is unforgivable. Poison ☠️
Oak and Anthony Mason were two of the toughest SOB's you could ever meet...I went to Mase's b-ball summer camp 3 years while he was on the Knicks and he was the real deal...just imagine the two of them on the same team....damn...
As nba players I always thought Oak was highly over-rated,but,Mason had a complete around game,he could do-EVERYTHING-and he showed this when he played for the Hornets. RIP: Mr Mason
Mason’s Summer Camp for three years? That’s really cool!
@@jasonalper9667 He was the man...I'm extremely grateful...
@@kerry-j4m I still remember Mase's ball handling, a true Point-Power-forward...one of a kind player...and those haircuts...i could go on and on, don't get me started lol
@@alexanderkantakusiniii8411 Mase played out standing man-to-man defense,had a nice-post game and jumper,but,his foot-work was-on par with Hakeem's.Plus,Mase had a bodybuilders built,pure muscle.
Draymond couldn't handle the dudes of yester years 💯🤕🥴
I think Draymond is a really tough dude and he could have hung in that era. But now he's like the only one. Back then they had a lot of guys who would tune you up so I think he would have been more chill. But he would have been tough enough to be out there.
@@DoctorCC-zo9cx DrayBO could last
Draymond😂he fights shooting guards and kicks europeans in the balls
None of today's players could play in the 70's,80's and 90's especially the foreign players. If they played they wouldn't be successful.
@@kelvinwatkins1596stop it bro every player in the NBA today is better than everyone from the 70s and 80s except a few guys like MJ Hakeem Magic and them
One of the craziest stories I’ve ever read was a workout in the 80s of a bunch of college players in the Midwest mostly around Cleveland. A skinny kid from Africa went toe to toe with the enforcer and said “I’ll -- you Charles Oakley, I’ve hunted lions!” So that’s how Manute Bol took on Oak and survived 😂
Reportedly, Manute Bol killed a lion as part of his rites-of-passage in Africa!
They REALLY need to do a "Last Dance" type documentary on those 90s Knicks teams. They may not have won any Championships but they were definitely a defining team of that era!
AGREE
@@chiggsytube I can't hate on Starks for that because without him and his tenacity, they don't even make the Finals. Does it suck? hell yeah, but I changed my tone when I had time to process it all.
Me my mom,dad and my brother didn’t miss a playoff game in those years. Oakley,Ewing, Mason were my favorite line up ever….
Basketball used to be so damn cool
Its not cool when you got guys swinging at your head and its not a boxing match.
People get beat up in the NHL all the time and the fights are literally sectioned off. Don’t give me that PC bullsht. People don’t like seeing us dark skin people fighting and being tough.
@@acornsucks2111yeah. That’s assault.
@@acornsucks2111yes it is
Its a shame the way the Knicks organization treats him now
The Knicks played in the 1st nba season ever and they ain’t never been shit them 2 championships in the 70’s don’t count it wasn’t even a 3 point line on the court. And they don’t draft good players Patrick Ewing was literally the 1st lottery pick ever and the nba wanted him in ny the company that sponsored the lottery was owned by the Knicks and they ain’t drafted someone good since
I hate the Knicks being a Heat fan. But I always enjoyed Oakley, I thought he played hard and took care of his guy's and I think Dolan is one petty punk with his treatment of Oakley.
AGREED !
Oak was on that can't stop him chop him!
Agreed, but he has a lot of love in Chicago and Toronto. The Bulls and Raptors welcome him with open arms to LIVE NBA games after the way the Knicks treated him.
I think it’s pretty embarrassing that he’s been a professional basketball player for as long as he has, and no one can point out aspecific highlight, but his legacy is how many people he’s beaten up and slapped around.
We need more of Charles Oakley in the NBA today, someone might build a dynasty out of a bunch of softies.
Another great installment! Oak has to be the most fun player to reminisce about! What a man! I always felt the level of play was always elevated on both sides when Oakley was on the floor. He brought out the awesome💪
Oakley was only around to protect Ewing, that's it,he shouldn't have even been starting, didn't even average double figures in rebounds either.
Great video, Sean David! Charles would have been great in the Last Kumite!
My favorite Knick of all time! Oak
All I know is, if you showed that clip of him body slamming Charles Barkley in that game, everyone would know why he was feared throughout the league.... WHEW MAN,,,😱🥶👊▪️
Right, and those same people were always crying about Lambier. Bill was soft compared to Oakley.
@@acornsucks2111
Naw Bruh, Bill was *DIRTY* compared to Oak! Big difference.
Then, after that, you can show that clip of Barkley slapping the taste out of his mouth. You can also show him backing down from Antoine car and James Edwards.
That was a cheap shot
Born and raised in North Jersey and we loved Oak! He was a tuff SOB
18k view and just over 800 likes ??? Why people is like that
This channel is unique you deserved more
& CHARLES OAKLEY THANK YOU FOR SHOWING MALIK SEALY SOME LOVE AT HIS FUNERAL BACK IN 2OOO
Oak wasn’t a bully he just ain’t take no disrespect
Oakley was a beast and he was also a protector MJ was not happy wen they traded Oakley
OAKLEY DIDN'T MESS WITH RICK MAHORN, JAMES BUDDHA EDWARDS, HAKEEM...he knew who to pick on
Love this clip dude!
FREE OAKLEY!!!
My NY Knicks had a great season and made great strides in the playoffs. We fell short but we are definitely a team to be reckoned with next year. It was great to see all of our great former players during the playoffs but Charles Oakley omission needs to be fixed. Charles Oakley is a Knicks legend and my favorite Knick. James Dolan needs to left the ban on Oakley from MSG.
That NYK team back in the day had many tough guys.... Oak, Mase, Patrick, LJ, X-man, Spree, Starks, Childs, ... I wouldn't mess with any of them!
Was Shannon sharpe attempting to speak English at the beginning? lol
I saw some comedian say "he needs to go find the rest of his tongue" 😂😂
Oakley is/was surly and ill tempered for no reason. He enjoyed intimidating others. He would fight just about anyone, and I'm sure he sometimes lost fights as well.
The only two people I never saw him go out of his way get into it with were Kevin Willis and Otis Thorpe.
Everybody else, Meet The People's Elbow!
Also Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon. The Dream had smoke for all in the 80's so when the 90's rolled around no one tried him. ✌🏾
@@thegritzmayne4412 Hakeem was a different man in the 90s.. he became the dream superstar, in the 80s tho he was the nightmare lol
Kevin Willis had a mean game face
Oak a certified goon.
Looks like he only approached guys smaller than him. Oak sounds soft.
Didn't hear anyone say they got beat up. Sounded more like some bully/goon stuff. Seems like no one was afraid, they just didn't want to fight over stupid stuff.
how the knicks have BOTH Rod Strickland AND Mark Jackson and then aint have a good point guard until 30 years later in Brunson.. damn Knicks...
They brought Derrick Harper to help with the scoring after Jackson. Harper was a great player.
Harper. Don't sleep on him
@@usmc29er44 good. but not great.
@@eugeniollamera771 was great with Dallas. good with the Knicks
Linsanity ?
I'd like to see a time machine on Greg Anthony. He was a great college player but in the NBA he was 6 fouls on your best scorer all of them hard! The Knicks back then didn't mess around lol.
OKA is like a contract killer the brain is the same thank God he was a basketball player
Does anyone have the full interview with Mark Jackson and Patrick Ewing that was showing their
We need another episode about Oak as a player too, underrated in a way...
But didn't he punk out Suge Knight?
Ah the 1980s when the NBA was at its peak. ❤
Oakley was the super glue to those teams. Alot of the success for the Knicks back then was because of THE BIG OAK. No Question.
Oakley couldn't ever think of bullying Xavier McDaniels that's for sure!!
they fought
@@soramirez5473 yessir they did...Oak was no joke
@@soramirez5473 Yes they did fight. After they were ejected Xavier McDaniels tried to fight him in the tunnel too, lol. But Sonics teammates restrained him and Oakley didn't come outta his locker room either.
@@FuShengAlex musta missed that part where Xman said that. guess i'll take your word huh...
Exactly Xavier was really tough guy Oakley is bullie
Oakley was a big Bully! But Stackhouse wasn't very big but was willing to get tha business going with Bully Ball Man! 💪🏼 😀
You make great content
Yo Jeff Teague is pure comedy 3:22
My first taste of the NBA, was of the entire season of the1987-88 sonics(Chambers, Ellis, XMan, to the layman)
I was 9. These games were everything to me. Until this point, I’d never been so captivated by anything. Each morning, I had out the Tacoma News Tribune sports section with my fruitloops, reading about what I had just watched…
If I was being an especially bad little dude that day, my mom would wait til the 4th quarter hit, and then turn that shit off and I would in turn completely LOSE MY SHIT LOL.
Most my memories of how that would end were usually of my dad sneaking in to turn my antenna tube tv on with zero volume, and I had to agreed to keep the sound OFF, put a towel under the door crack to block the light- oh, and to NOT SNITCH ON HIM if I GOT CAUGHT(which of course she’d eventually do). We finally outsmarted her when he gave me a Walkman, which had some AA’s taped to the side, and I was pretty safe if I stayed under my sheets and kept one ear exposed, listening out for her.😂
All that got nostalgia came back when I saw XMan interview at the end. One of my first memories is of X-Men standing up to Oakley(and actually coming out on top if you ask me). it would always amaze me that the fight was so difficult to find on UA-cam all these years. Makes me like the Knicks a little in retrospect that they brought X in and signed him. Good way to get respect in NY is to swing first on Oakley and live to talk about it!
i remember guys like this growing up, you always kept an eye on them because they were so unpredictable, for some it was about domination, as long as you knew the pecking order you were all right, other guys didn't give a shit about politics, they were just crazy, and strong a.f.
I happen to be a big fan of bullies or Enforcers and Love Oakley for this specifically - I think there's a lot more stories but thanks
90s knicks got 3 of the toughest players on the same team but Mike took them out..hahaha
Oak should've been in the UFC.
Would've been interesting to see how truly tough he was!
🤔🤔🤔
I just couldn't get over him not dropping one of them security guards. Had he done that, the crowd would've carried security out instead of the security throwing Oakley out like Jazz from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
The second he walked back and threatened to slap him is when you defend yourself. Doesnt matter if you win or lose the man thnks he controls you like his pet dog. You gotta get him off you thia is a prison intimidation tactic. We aint in prison so dont get bullied.
If you tried to go straight down the lane on Oakley he would literally try to remove your head from your body. Modern players have no idea how it was back then…..
That’s why MJ was pissed iff when he was traded.
I think you have it wrong there is a difference between a person that likes to fight and one that will fight. Most people won’t fight!
Show the fight between Oakley and Rick MaHorne
One game in the mid-eighties Oak tried to take a cheap shot at Mchale towards the end of the game, Mchale was ready and moved quick, and Oak hit Jordan. LOL
Oak is a fkn bully. That video of him slapping Scottie P? Nah bruh. Zero respect.
Oak has back up from rick mahorn
Im from Cleveland yall. I use to see Lamar Odem walking around cleveland hts and shaker. if u know, u kno.
Now, the Knicks’ nerd squad is doing the bullying to the Oak tree. 😂
A bully that knows how to fight is the worse lol
From a hockey fan's perspective, what basketball considers tough is so soft, including Oakley's tough-guy image.
Yeah ask James Edwards about Oak and Mase and he’ll slap you just like he did them!
Now punching people not basketball either.
Hitting someone that not in position to defend themselves is wussy.
Real NBA and was all for the love of the game legends sad how the new era have destroyed the game but we can't blame the players gotta blame the NBA for starting to worry about offense because all the legends was gone... so they had to get there rating up so offense with new moves stop calling traveling, double dribbling, basically everything and let's call fouls on shooting plays and only certain players gets fouls
I’ve heard no stories of Oakley bullying someone bigger than him only guards and small forwards 😮
First, how about Shaq, Hakeem, Zo Mourning (he punked Mourning multiple times), Barkley, Malone, McDaniel, Rodman, Cartwright (he was his bitch literally) and Mason and Larry Johnson while they were on separate teams, how about him being mj's bodyguard against the Pistons... Secondly, there weren't THAT many players bigger than him in the league ANYWAY!!! You have a deep ignorance about the sport dude, you need to get it together.
Oakley was the original thug...😂 i've seen him smack people on the court. I was there for his last dunk. Correction he missed it.... it was wide-open and he just couldn't get high enough... it was against Orlando.. I believe it was 1997
Ppl don't be scared most don't be tryna let ppl trick them out they money
Oakley vs. Jokic's brothers...
The way it should be!
I'm not buying it! Stackhouse and Odom and his boys would've gotten their ass beat!
Stackhouse can fight so idk about that
I seen Charles smack him upside his head .
That’s what Lebron would be facing. GOAT status no longer mentioned.
LeBron's a little bigger and a lot quicker. Close fight, but I think he takes Oak.
@@idonthavemonkey I didn’t anything about taking him. I said he wouldn’t be considered goat status anymore. Lebron has never proven to be able to take contact. Especially against players like OAK.
Sure he flops to get calls, but he can take contact when he has to. Back in the day the Pacers and especially the Wizards used to rough him up pretty bad, and that never stopped him from driving to the rack. Although the rule changes that allow less contact have definitily helped prolong his career, and he never had to face guys as big and physical as Oak and Malone... so yeah, I guess you have a point. If he had played against them he probably would have quit a few years ago.
@@GTOHawg puhleeze. A GOAT tier player is a GOAT tier player. Stringbean Reggie Miller probably 80 lbs lighter than Bron and he killed NY 3 years in a row.
@@FuShengAlex lebron can’t shoot like Reggie at all. Lebrons skillset is lowering his shoulder and driving the lane. Keep up. Spoon feeding is for babies
Kwame wasn't scared of OAK. Real talk
Funny, I guess it’s different when you lean and 6’6’ cus 90lb DB Bench is lightweight, damn near anyone I ever lifted with handles those for 10-15reps easy
Oak the Haku of the NBA
More like the Scott Steiner.
Facts if you know you know 😂
Why is it a big deal that he threw basketballs at a guy that doesnt wanna pay. The government will send the police and throw you in a cage for not paying.
The looks of it he can't fight he just a bully
That’s like being the toughest guy in a flag football league……..NBA players aren’t fighters lol OAKLEY took advantage of that
📨
Oakley is just a bully who hasn't picked on the wrong one yet. I would love to see him try to bully someone who actually knew how to fight.
Rick Mahorn OAKLEY was scared
Dude u talk too much. Just show the content.
NO, he doesn't like to fight. it's all show. When you get guys that act out like oak, they are all bark and no bite. They try to intimdate you with there aggressiveness because deep down, its all they got. He didn't have any real game.
Knicks should retire 34
The Cleveland, Ohio prototype.... From Aqib Talib, Ruben Patterson, Charles Oakley etc... get yo a** rolled
Oakley would kick Draymond’s ass
Wish Oak would self identify as a female and play in the WNBA on Caitlin Clarks team…..she would go off, cuz nobody messin with Charles.
At 3:35 HAHAHA
Lmao bully man
This goofy Jeff t talking about cp3 had a better career than AI THE ANSWER wake bro both of them were better than you.
Who cares. This dudes bully ppl they can.
Laimbeer & Mahorn are lucky krause traded Oakley for Cartwright! Had that not happened, Oakley would have retired both of those clowns!
Im from Cleveland like Oak i use to get my car washed at his shop so i know him he get all his grit from Cleveland reuban patterson too is the Cleveland in them lol
You're absolutely amazing and your videos are always the bright spot for my day
"Some people are scared of dark alleys. Charles Oakley is a dark alley" Reggie Miller
Virginia Union produced Charles Oakley AND Ben Wallace. If I'm an NBA scout, I'd go there every couple of years looking for the next one. (Maybe if I was an NFL scout, too.)
‘91-‘92 Knicks were my favorite team cuz of them knocking off so called bad boys of Detroit in playoffs. Knicks had Ewing, Oak, Mase and X-Man that year and gave Pistons a dose of their own medicine in playoffs lol 😂
Oakley's real claim to fame was his bullying and unnecessary roughness. He was not an impact player. And if you look at his career stats, he was okay -- but nothing all that special. I was never a fan. I did, however, enjoy watching Rodman mess with him. 🤣
Charles Oakley was the Michael Jordan of all Oakleys
Charles Barkley and Larry Johnson disagree with you. So does Antoine Carr and Rick Mahorn
He wasn’t looking for it, but Oak had a very reliable midrange set shot.
That crap didn't get Charles Oakley no rings New York Knicks fans love glorifying Oakley dirty ass but he knew who to pick with.
