  • Here's a couple of hints on how to help stabilize yourself while scuba diving.
Proper positioning can make all the difference between feeling like you're out of control and you being one with the water.
Think like a fish u/w and not a people (Human). Use some pool time to help condition yourself.
Thanks for watching ! Bob C

@BobCollins: Proper weighting initial descent question; I find to be neutrally buoyant from about 20’ on down to 100’, and to be neutrally buoyant at safety stop with about 600psi left, I need to start the dive about 2 pounds underweighted, and therefore have to fin down on initial descent the first 25’ or so. If I wear just a pound or two more I can descend just by emptying my BC, but then tend to be slightly overweighted at depth and at safety stop. This is true whether I’m wearing a full 3mm or 7mm. I’m thinking it might be trapped air etc in suit at the beginning of the dive maybe. My question is, is this okay and maybe preferable to just always fin down at the beginning of a dive, like the old Cousteau days before BC’s? Or is this bad form and my error, and I’m not relaxing enough or using breath right on initial descent? Should I put on more weight and just compensate at depth by putting extra gas in my BC., or embrace inverting and finning down at the beginning of a dive? Thanks!
