    Brought these pair of bad boys for doing ultra marathons. I can still hear music after a long day of running and that's amazing. No more fear of airpods dropping on the trail and can clearly hear my surroundings for animal movements or danger is massive plus on my solo journey.

    Bought these for my jogs and even convinced my works HR department to let me wear these. It's been such a uplifting feeling being able to listen to music I enjoy vs the same 5 radio stations day in day out. The 10 hour battery life is honestly more than this, I imagine 10 hours at Max Volume. These are so immensely comfortable.
    I'm still able to hear perfectly fine after 4-10 hour day. Don't have to worry about not hearing external sounds at all. Fork truck, pedestrians, people speaking to me, other environmental sounds, etc. Past that if I do need to wear hearing protection like ear plugs I can do that yet still hear music or a podcast/audio book etc. Honestly, the price tag is worth it in every aspect. Charging time is under an hour which is splendid. Even comes with a nice carry case.

    I have used Shokz headphones for four or five years now, where I wear them all day for 4-5 days a week. They allow me to work in noisy environments, such as workshops, or near loud running engines while being able to wear ear protection. After work, they let me ride my bike, run, ski, and more with little consideration for their form factor. Often I have to reach up to feel for them in order to tell if I have them on or not. They become unnoticeable. The trick to wearing beanies, hats, dealing with tall collars (sailing jackets, winter jackets), and certain helmets is to swing the band up toward the crown of your head. Lay the band tight against your head in this rotated position, then pull the cap down overtop. Works every time.
    Nice review.

      Have Varia. So if I understand it correctly, the sounds is pretty good and clear unless the car is coming from behind. So you’ll be able to hear it from the distance? I’m looking for something for my long endurance rides but still want to be safe and hear surroundings. Thank you.

    I love the idea of open ear headphones for cycling. I get a little cranky when I see people wearing in-ear headphones, darting in and out of traffic. Thanks for this great review!!! 👏🏻

      I see people using in-ear earplugs (or large headphones, I suppose often with nose cancelling) very often while walking on the street, cycling, running etc... I find it a bit insane heheh. That's why I got an Aeropex and I use it a lot nowadays (also for skiing) I really like it!

    I watched a ton of reviews, yours is the one that finally swayed me. I am upgrading from Aftershokz Aeropex the only thing your review did not cover was how is the microphone for making calls? Nobody has failed to tell me how awful the call quality is on my Aeropex’s. I know that is not a huge issue for a lot of people but the ability to take calls anywhere when I am ALWAYS wearing my aeropex headphones is very important to me specially.

    Had the aeropex for 9 month now - suddenly the mic died and at any phonecalls the other side only heard me scrambled. Voice recogniseable but not a single word to understand. Brought it back to the dealer - played for them a call I made on my own voice box and got money back under warranty. Was thinking about getting the new aeropex (OpenRun) but decided to get the OpenRun pro instead. Use the headphones for running, biking, listening to music the whole day long and still being able to here the kids around in the house. Oh man! What an upgrade ind sound and clarity! Would not have upgraded without the defect of the prior model but for me it pays off for sure. 😊

  • @BrianRPaterson

    I have had the OpenRuns for a while. I'd buy them again over the Pros to get better water resistance.
    For me, waterproofing matters than small improvements in sound quality or battery life. I've had too many sets of so-called "sports headphones" die due to sweat or rain getting in.
    I also doubt I'd ever use the new app. Plus, the OpenRuns are cheaper.
    That said, I got the Pros for my teenage son as a Christmas gift. He will use them as his daily drivers, so he'll appreciate the extra battery life and improved audio quality.
    But, unless Shokz upgrades the Pros to IP67, I'll stick to the OpenRuns.
    Cheers

    I use the Aeropex, now called open run, with my ears blocked all the time because bone conduction protects your hearing from dangerous sound waves. I've tested the open run pro, and The sound with your ears blocked is bass heavy. I use my Aeropex because when my ears are blocked, the sound is flat and rich.

    I like mine. Not this model but they're good. Complaints: Maybe I have a small head, but I don't like that I can't make them smaller, it only really becomes a problem if I want to lay my head against a chair headrest or pillow (can't be done properly, if at all). I can't for the life of me, get them to connect to my Acer laptop Bluetooth - it simply won't recognize them no matter what backflips I try. No problem connecting to anything other tech.

    I have been using these products for over three years. They are comfortable, and the sound quality is decent. My problem is that the first set I purchased lasted about two years, before the right side began to blur. I then purchased a new updated set for a little more than the first set cost. Again, I was very satisfied with them. Unfortunately they lasted less tan two years, and again the right side began to blur. Before I purchase a third set, I am curious if anyone else has had the same issues? It is important to understand that I use them everyday, for maybe 10 hours. Thank you for your time...

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  2 роки тому +3

      Heyo Jase! They're really solid. They don't block the ear at all, so think of the normal amount of wind that you hear and then basically 'overlay' sound on top of that. I like to think of them as like... adding a soundtrack to your world vs. replacing outdoor sound with music, if that makes sense.

      Sad. This was my 3rd attempt at shopping for a music delivery device for road biking. Needless to say it’s going back to Best Buy. If you want to simply listen to music for 2 hours of riding; the sound quality is quite poor. Lower range is POOR. These guys are probably good for listening to podcasts.
      Please try harder, Shokz…

    I bought this model, and I have some problems with this headphone
    1- single or double click has the same beep, and while listening to music, it is a bit confusing
    2- headphone ergonomy is very bad for wearing a hat in winter or lay down on the pillow and same bad experience with bicycle helmets
    3- There is no auto switch off system. If you forget to turn off its work to drain all of the battery juice
    4- I miss the piroxymeter sensor. This device does not have any system or hardware to know if you are wearing headphone or not
    5- There is no option to turn off welcome and battery level voice assistance

    I'm confused with one part of your video when discussing bluetooth. You mentioned using the blue ones because it stores music on the device and you wouldn't need to run with your phone. Are you not able to store music on that large fitness watch you have on? That's my go to method of working out these days. Store the music on the watch and sync to that.

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  2 роки тому

      Yeah, you got it. I use a Coros Pace 2, which is (I think?) the smallest/lightest watch there is. If I could change one thing about it, I'd add music storage+BT. That's basically the one feature I'd love to have from some of the Garmins. That said, what I REALLY want is Spotify offline and only a few do that. It would be a nice to have for sure. But I really like Coros >>>> Garmin for everything else.

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  2 роки тому +1

      So this is a great question I feel very close to. I also *hate* carrying my phone while I run. My reality is a little different in that most of my outdoor runs are fairly long so I can justify wearing my ultrarunning pack, and then I toss my phone in. a ziplock in there. If I'm running on a treadmill it's moot obviously. I actually use my openswims a LOT for exactly what you said: If I'm running less than an hour or so, I'll just grab those because I'm not bringing anything else. So I don't have a good answer, but you're asking the right questions.
